MEET
MIGUEL PORTILLO
Food and beverage veteran and world traveler Roberto Abbagnale has been named
general manager of the beach club at Cabo Villas! Born in Naples, Italy, Roberto began his
career as a chef at age 16! He has provided his culinary expertise all over the world, including Dubai, Thailand, Spain, Egypt, London and most recently Puerto Vallarta.
Returning to Cabo is a bit of a homecoming for Roberto. He served as general manager at
Nikki Beach from 2012 – 2014. The beach club has incredible sushi, delicious food and cool,
refreshing drinks. Roberto looks forward to seeing you at the beach club!

For a safer environment on Medano Beach for our members and guests, Cabo Villas
upgraded the swimming buoys, in addition to expanding the area by 300 square yards! With
our large yellow buoys, we now have the most identifiable swimming area on the entire
beach, free from the dangers of motorized vehicles! Medano Beach is the most swimmable
beach in all of Los Cabos! Who is ready for an incredible swim in the Sea of Cortez?

As most of you know, Cabo Villas Beach Resort & Spa has grown organically over the past 16
years. Family owned and operated, loyalty to all of those who have helped build this resort has
always been first and foremost.
It does need to be noted that Cabo as a destination is changing considerably. With the addition of over 4,000 new rooms in the next two years, competition will be as fierce as ever.
Many exciting changes are coming to our resort in the very near future and we are very proud
to be launching a true “lifestyle” property into the Cabo market. Our complete renovation of
the existing beach front tower, combined with the development’s expansion plans, will create
a new icon on Cabo’s main beach.
We have also experimented with various operators of our restaurants and bars. Staying competitive in the market, without losing the personal touch, has always been our goal. Drai’s, our
most recent operator on the beach, is no longer working with Cabo Villas. The termination is
very amicable, and we have certainly left the door open for future ventures with this powerful
operator.
Meanwhile, the beach club is operating better than ever. The entire look and feel has
remained, as the beautiful beach furniture and beach bar and kitchen have remained in
place. Our management team has already made some slight changes to the menu, lowered
the pricing, created some awesome specials, and have really put the heart and soul back
into the beach club. Also, our beach club is locally famous for sushi! We are very pleased to
offer the finest fresh fish, some amazing new recipes, a full list of the old favorites and Nika, the
same sushi chef as we have featured forever!
After many requests, we also put the “swing bar” back in place! You will also recognize many
friendly faces on the beach. We are confident you will embrace this evolution, as the music
and entire vibe on the beach is back to normal.

INFUSION
ART CAFFE
The summer season is well underway in Cabo. Water temps in the mid 80’s and crystal clear deep
blue water have blessed us here at Land’s End, and the fish have showed up strong! The Blue Marlin
bite is nothing short of spectacular; 2-3 Blue bites per day are normal. VERY exciting and lots of
anglers are stretching their arms. Blue Marlin are the most incredible of all game fish and when they
are biting, one has to go after them strong. They average 200-300 lbs and fight like nothing you have
ever seen, it’s so exciting.
The Tuna bite has also been incredible. Schools are being found all over and some massive schools
are being found very close to shore; 200 lb Yellowfins are being landed daily, and some even larger.
We are catching them with our kite method, as well as live bait and lures. They are ferocious and
plentiful. It has been many years since we have seen a Tuna bite like this. Remember to bring you ice
chest to haul fish home.
Combine all of this with an occasional Wahoo bite and a few Dorado mixed in and you have true
world class Cabo fishing. The Striped Marlin bite is also incredible. Most anglers are chasing Blues and
Tuna, but if you want to target Sripeys, you can see 4-6 bites per day. It’s a great time of the year for
light tackle and even fly gear. We have been raising Stripeys on hookless lures, just to toss bait or
Ballyhoo to them; super exciting.

CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION TV
ON CHANNEL 18
Over the past 15 years, Cabo Villas Beach Resort &
Spa has been grateful and honored to be a part of a
number of caring foundations and charities in the Los
Cabos area. Cabo Villas has grown extremely close
with the Los Cabos Children Foundation. Their main
goal is to provide medical assistance for children in
the Los Cabos area suffering from cancer, heart
defects and other serious illnesses. The LCCF and
their amazing kids are showcased on channel 18.
These children have little or no chance without treatment and medical assistance. A typical heart surgery
for a child costs $10,000 (USD), while a year of cancer
treatment totals $20,000 (USD).
Cabo Villas invites you to join us in a rewarding experience with the Los Cabos
Children’s Foundation. During your stay, $1 USD per day will be included on your total

MARITZA
After a year of treatment in the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Unit at the Salvatierra
Hospital in La Paz, Maritza Estrella is now in surveillance! This means that she currently
hasn't presented cancer cell activity and will no longer receive chemotherapy, but she
will remain under medical supervision. She received this amazing news in February one
day before her 5th birthday! Throughout her treatment, Maritza always showed
strength, joy and courage. We are so happy for her and so grateful for you who make
wonderful news like this one possible with your generous support!

the Los Cabos Children's Foundation to fund this amazing program called "Spirit of
