2. Using the DioPen7.0™
2.1 DioPen7.0 Handwriting
DioPen7.0 provides 3 Handwriting modes, continuous Handwriting Recognition mode, box Handwriting Recognition mode, and
screen Handwriting Recognition. Pressing the mode change button to adjust to the necessary Handwriting mode.
 2.1.1 Continuous Handwriting Recognition
Continuous Handwriting mode is a mode where words are inputted just by Handwriting the word. In this mode, the location
where the Handwriting starts determines the character type. So, for Korean, start Handwriting at the right end of Korean
Handwriting area line, for English write between the English Handwriting line and the number separation line. For Numbers,
special characters and Hanja characters start at the right side of the Number Handwriting area line.
TIP : Clicking on the icons you can change between numbers/special characters/ and Hanja characters.

 2.1.2 Box Handwriting Recognition
The input for box handwriting mode is done by Handwriting one letter in each box. When a Handwriting in the next box
begins or recognition time elapses the Handwriting is automatically recognized.
TIP : Using the Korean consonant and vowel writing area [ㅋㅋ,ㅠㅠ,ㅎㅎ] can be easily inputted.
(Depending on the starting location recognition rate may differ. So the start point needs to be within the consonant and vowel

 2.1.3 Switching into Screen Recognition Mode
Screen mode allows Handwriting all across the screen.
There are two modes available, “Full screen Handwriting” and “Split screen Handwriting”.
※ Split screen Handwriting: Divide the screen vertically or horizontally and write separately enter Korean/English/ numbers/
special characters.

 2.1.4 Gesture Input
Gestures are used for using specific functions or editing inputted text. When the handwriting gestures are inputted, related
special characters or text editing functions operate. The “Upper/Lower Case” gesture only works for the letter following the
gesture, and to activate caps lock write the “Upper/Lower Case” gesture twice. To undo caps lock mode activate the
“Upper/Lower Case” gesture once more. This gesture only works in English handwriting mode.

TIP : During English Number Uni-stroke mode, to differ with the letter “j” enter(2) must be used. In other modes to differ from
"/", need to use enter (1)
 2.1.5 Keyboard
From list
select the keyboard mode to enter keyboard mode. And in keyboard setups “Use Key board handwriting
recognition” is activated, you may write on tope of the keyboard Korean above the English keyboard, and English above the
Korean keyboard.

▶ Keyboard Shift Function
By performing the shift gestures upward while clicking on the targeted keys, double consonants (Korean) or special characters
such as ~!@#$%^&*() can easily be entered in the key board mode. (Same function as holding shift on the keyboard)

2.2. DioPen7.0™ Additional Functions
From Menu
Select DioPen Setup to access the setup screen. Through user setup, word recommendation, macros and
other functions can be edited.
 2.2.1 Word Recommendation
When entering Korean or English, based on the entered characters it will estimate words and recommend it. In English the
number of inputted letter amount(1~4) and recommended words(1~8) can be selected and in Korean 5/10/15/20 words will
be shown. (※ You cannot use this recommendation function in Handwriting mode if you select the option of inserting space
after recognition. )

You can select between touch calculator and handwriting calculator when entering handwriting calculator mode. In handwriting
mode, the whole screen may be used to write and find the answer. (need to add "=" after the formula)

3. DioPen7.0™ Setting
3.1 Setting up DioPen7.0™
While using DioPen7.0 continuous handwriting, box handwriting mode, screen handwriting recognition pressing
>setup) button and the Additional keyboard
( Menu<-
(setup) button to enter DioPen setting screen below.
TIP : Select the input method as the DioPen from the Start / Settings / Personal / input and selecting option will also allow
you to enter settings.
 3.1.1 Recognition Mode
Screen where continuous handwriting mode, keyboard mode, handwriting calculation mode use selection is selected. Also,
either the handwriting recognition mode or keyboard mode must be selected.
Handwriting Mode : Use of handwriting mode and Hanja character recognition, number uni-stroke recognition (English number unistroke recognition), Calligrapher English recognition setup.
Keyboard Mode : Use of Keyboard recognition mode.
Handwriting calculator : Use of handwriting calculator.

 3.1.2 Keyboard
Key repetition time : Setup function to consecutively enter keys while holding the soft keyboard key or character input button
during handwriting mode.
Keyboard input mode : For soft keyboard only “Doobul” type inputs are possible, and “saebul(390) and “saebul(total)” may
only be used with external keyboards.
Initial IME input mode : Can select either English or Korean for the basic input mode.
Keyboard script recognition Use : Select whether to use the handwriting recognition mode.

 3.1.3 Handwriting Recognition
Screen to setup handwriting recognition.
Recognition delay time :After the delay time recognition is performed. Can be set up in units of mSec and it ranges from
100~5000(mSec)
※ Letters composed with multiple strokes, it must be completed within the delay time or it will be pre maturely recognized. So
need to set a delay time fit to your personal style.
Automatic Space Recognition : When handwriting, automatically recognize the spaces between letters.
Space after words : Automatically enters a space after a word is inputted during handwriting mode.
Korean Composite Recognition : Only 2,350 Korean are recognized without setup, and after setup 11,172 Korean composites
can be recognized.
Korean Recommendation Display :While using Korean handwriting recognition, option to display and input recommendations
when recognition did not perform correctly. (If disabled the recognized word is inputted)
Korean stroke recognition : When “Korean recommendation display” is checked, for each stroke a recommendation will be
updated and displayed. (when this function is disabled, after recognition recommended Korean word is displayed)
 3.1.4 Etc
Theme Selection : Setup DioPen Skins.
Handwriting stroke width : Set the width of the stroke when displaying the words written. Is set up in units of Pixels and
possible widths are 1~5(pixels) ※ Does not apply to brush stroke writings
Ink Color : Select the color for the displayed strokes. (Can select the color by pressing the select button on the right)
Sound effects : Sound effects for handwriting recognition, screen recognition, keyboard handwriting recognition.
Key Sound effects : Sound effects when using soft keyboards.
Handwriting : Select between Brush writing, and Pen writing.
IME Cancelation : When selected IME Korean composition is halted .

Initial input mode selection : Select DioPen as the basic input mode.
 3.1.5 Help
Uni-stroke Handwriting shape : Can look at Numbers, Special characters, gestures, accent, additional symbol strokes.
About : Can check the version of DioPen7.0, build dates and other.
Register : Can check the product number and validation from the company. If the product numbers is yet to be entered “Trial
Version” will be displayed and after input it will change to “Registered Version”
※ You can check the validation through PC->Program->DioPen7.0.

4. Using DioSkin
4.1 DioSkin Bootup
 4.1.1 Skin Bootup
Change through PC->Start->Program->DioSkin.

 4.1.2 Skin Selection
In the skin selection menu, you can select the skin. When “Default skin” is selected the default skin(type 1, type 2)saved within DioPen
7.0 is set and when “user skin” is selected picture files(BMP, JPEG, GIF format files)are brought from the PC and be set as the skin
Initially 3 skins(DIOTEK Skin 1, 2, 3)is provided.

Layout Color : Select the layout color.
Background color : When a small image is selected, choose the blank space color.
Image Fit : Fit the image to the DioPen 7.0 Size.
Filter : Can filter multiple images, and depending on the filter type, can adjust with the slide bar.
Blur : Add blur effect to the image.
Brightness : Adjust brightness.
Contrast : Adjust contrast.
Dilate : Expand bright areas.
Edge : extract the edge.
Emboss : Add emboss effect.
Erode : Expand dark areas.
Flip : Flip up and down.
Gray : Alter to black and white.
Invert : Invert the image.
Jitter : Adjust the image resolution.
Mirror : mirror the image.
Noise : Add noise effect.
Sharpen : Sharpen the edges of the image.
Soften : Soften the edges of the image.
Clear : Clear all filters and rotation and return to the original image.
Color Depth : Select the amount of colors when saving the skin image to BITMAP files. With more bits tit becomes more vivid
and the file gets larger.
Rotate : Spin the image 90 degree.
 4.1.4 Using the Skin
After edit press
Button, the PDA DioPen7.0 Skin is applied.
