“Almost five years ago when I graduated as
Valedictorian at my high school, you were
kind enough to believe in me and offered
me a scholarship. I just wanted to say THANK
YOU for that scholarship and give you an
update on how I am doing.
After high school, I attended the University of Texas
in Austin and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree
in Chemical Engineering. While in university,
I spent my summers interning at ISC Contractors
and Air Liquide. During my senior year, I accepted
an offer as a Control Systems Engineer for Shell Oil.
Again, thank you for believing in me and offering me the financial help
I needed to become the Chemical Engineer I am today. ”

Imagine being a girl today and
encountering serious obstacles
including stereotypes, sexism,
bullying, and the added pressure of
negative social media messages.
These factors can cause low selfesteem, poor body image, and can even pose barriers
to academic success. At Girls Inc., we know that each
and every girl has her own inherent strengths and can
become whatever she wants to be. Here, girls find
their voices, learn to value who they are, and uncover
all the possibilities of who they can become.
So what better partner to empower more girls than
GapKids x ED, Ellen DeGeneres' new lifestyle brand?
GapKids selected Girls Inc. for the GapKids x ED
initiative, which encourages girls to live happy,
healthy, and academically enriched lives. Through this
partnership, GapKids has committed to donating
$250,000 to Girls Inc. to help introduce girls to
investing and entrepreneurship. As girls explore how
the economy affects everyone locally and globally,
they develop skills critical to being financially savvy
adults.
We all know that girls need extra support to overcome
the challenges they face, which is why we are so
grateful to GapKids x ED and all of our supporters.
Together, we are inspiring more girls to be strong,
smart, and bold to grow up as healthy, educated, and
financially independent women.
