THE
Dear Omaha Marathon Participants,
Welcome to the 40th annual Omaha Marathon.
Once again the City of Omaha provides the perfect backdrop for a wonderful race with its magnificent
downtown skyline and its majestic riverfront. While you’re here, discover all the city has to offer,
from the top-rated zoo and aquarium to the fabulous restaurants, museums, shops, parks and
entertainment venues.
Please join me in thanking the officials from the City of Omaha, the Police Department, the Fire
Department and MECA who have traditionally and continue to provide so much support in hosting
this event. It’s been a team effort and without their help it would not be the success it is today.
Most of all I’d like to thank our dedicated staff and volunteers. From long before the event starts to
well after it finishes, their tireless efforts make the experience truly memorable. They are with you
at the start, the finish and all along the course. Their energy and dedication are essential to our
helping you reach your goal.
You’ve come a long way to get here. You have overcome many challenges. No matter what
obstacles lie in front of you on race day, just remember one thing: Keep going!
I’ll see you at the finish line.
Best,
Chuck Kreger, Race Director

Tom Struzzieri | President & CEO
Tom Struzzieri is the founder of HITS, Inc., the largest equine
show jumping production company in the world, and has been
running world-class events since 1977. Through Tom’s leadership,
HITS has introduced three of the most important advances in
the sport of show jumping, starting with the Marshall & Sterling
League, a national grass roots league which began in 1991 and
now encompasses more than 1,700 events annually. In 2010,
he created and produced the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, the
largest show jumping purse in the world. Lastly, in 2011, building
off the success of the Pfizer Million, Tom introduced the first-ever
Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix Final, aimed at engaging
a large audience of equestrians who, until then, didn’t have an
event of such prestige to call their own.
Tom is renowned in the event world as being able to blend world-class competition with national and
international athletes, while at the same time developing and nurturing entry-level competitors. In 2006 he
joined forces with Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. a California-based private equity firm, to expand and grow
HITS, Inc. As a result of this alliance, Tom was able to bring his visionary thinking to the sport of triathlon with
the introduction of the HITS Triathlon Series.
Tom’s foray into triathlon was inspired by his own personal experience with the sport after receiving training
sessions with accomplished triathlon coach Mark H. Wilson for his 50th birthday. Wanting to set a positive
and powerful example to his three children that fitness and good health is an essential ingredient for living
life to its fullest, Tom embraced the challenges and rewards of his training. As many others before him, he
became instantly hooked on the sense of fulfillment, well-being and personal accomplishment that came
from his triathlon training. Overcoming personal obstacles with the challenges of the swim, bike and run only
made it more of a passion and eventually a business interest. Tom recently completed his first Half-distance
race. His wife, Jane, is also a triathlete, having recently competed in sprint distance races.
Inspired not only by his new-found personal passion, but also the similarities to his experiences in the
equestrian sport, Tom has now set out to join forces with Mark to offer the world of triathlon something new
and different with the HITS Triathlon Series. The combination of Tom’s skills in the world of event management
and Mark’s endless knowledge of triathlon make them a perfect duo to bring forth a fresh, innovative concept
that will engage existing athletes and help to inspire new ones to grow the sport.

CHUCK KREGER | RACE DIRECTOR
Chuck Kreger is an acclaimed endurance
athlete and triathlon coach. With over 20 years
of racing under his belt, including participation
in several hundred events, Kreger, who joined
the HITS Endurance team in June 2015, will focus on attracting
international level athletes, sponsors and attention to HITS,
bringing the company to a new level of event production.
After his first 140.6 in 1995 ignited a passion for endurance sports, Kreger has subsequently thrived on
the competitive comradery triathlon offers and has since participated in roughly 15 Fulls to date. As an
athlete, he averages 40 races per year ranging from Super Sprints to Ultra-Distances with many notable
career accomplishments, including the 24 Hours of Triathlon World Record in which Kreger completed 1.9
Full-distances in just one day. Off the course, Kreger, who is a Certified USAC Cycling Coach and Certified
Personal Trainer, has owned two multi-sport coaching businesses, both of which enabled him to share his
wealth of industry knowledge to athletes.
“My first Full distance race was beyond inspirational. There were people of all different shapes and sizes, and
we were all doing something, together,” said Kreger. “That is what triathlon is about – athletes having fun,
setting goals, and achieving them together,”
Kreger is no stranger to the HITS race schedule having participated in many of the 2012/2013 events across
the country with his wife and celebrated triathlete, Deb Battaglia. Whether Sterling, Colorado, Hunter, New
York, or Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Kreger has respected the HITS mantra of “a distance for everyone™”
from the start.
“Since day one, I’ve admired what HITS has personified. No other race management company offers a
friendly event that is truly inclusive to all levels of athletes,” said Kreger. “The opportunity to work alongside
Tom Struzzieri and the enthusiastic staff at HITS is priceless.”
To contact Race Director Chuck Kreger, please email [email protected].

you will not receive a time. Race numbers and timing chips are non-transferable and must be worn only by the
participant to whom it is assigned.
Athlete Tracking
The Omaha Marathon is excited to partner with ITS YOUR RACE, the leading mobile app provider for endurance
events. The free ITS YOUR RACE mobile app (available on either Android or iOS devices) enables participants to
have an interactive experience in the race and provides spectators with a closer connection to the event. The app
will give users the opportunity to enable live athlete tracking for the Half and Full Marathoners. As live timing
data is sent to the app throughout race day, Omaha Marathon spectators can follow Marathon and Half Marathon
athletes along a course map. All athletes can also choose to make their race a social event by setting the app to
post their finish time on Facebook and Twitter automatically. The free app also includes features for all athletes
such as course maps, events, news, expo information and local places of interest.

Rules of Competition
The Omaha Marathon presented by HITS Endurance is a sanctioned USA Track & Field (USATF) race and a Boston
Qualifier. The Omaha Marathon will enforce all USATF rules and conduct guidelines. In order to ensure a safe,
fair race, there are a few rules we would like to call to your attention. Failure to abide by these rules may lead to
disqualification from the race. Please visit www.USATF.org to view a complete set of the competitive rules.

this includes being able to hear any verbal warnings/instructions from police/course officials, or the sound of any
vehicles and other participants on course. Becoming a hazard to fellow participants, spectators, course marshals,
medical personnel, race officials, or police personnel will result in disqualification.
Race Course Courtesy
Please be courteous to other runners, volunteers, and officials. If you are running with a group of friends or one of
the pace groups, please be aware of other runners and let passing runners through. Please help keep our city and
county clean. Do not toss garbage on the road.
Assistance to Runners
Assistance to runners is prohibited. If you do not have an official bib number, you are not permitted on the course.
Time Limit
The time limit is 3.5 hours for the Half Marathon and 6.5 hours for the Full Marathon. The time limit will be strictly
enforced in order to re-open city roads. Aid stations and volunteers will start clearing the course. You may finish on
your own, but you will not receive aid, a finisher’s medal or time.
Lost & Found
If you lose any equipment during the race weekend, please see the HITS staff at the on-site administration tent to
claim it. Any valuables found should be turned into the administration tent. After the event, lost and found inquiries
should be directed to [email protected]. Clothing and other items left behind will be donated to charity after
