Delhi Partner's Meet
at Hyde Park Site
Reaching Far and Wide
To launch the subvention scheme for plots in Hyde
Park, New Chandigarh, and educate prospective
clients about our development and progress at Hyde
Park, a number of PR activities and events were
organized during the last three months.
We started by initiating Channel Partner Meets where
we organized meetings with our Director North, Mr
Rakesh Kerwell, followed by site visits to Hyde Park
(New Chandigarh) and The Valley (Panchkula). It
was concluded by further interactions with the sales
team. The Channel Partner Meets were also
successfully organized for a group of prominent
brokers operating out of Delhi NCR, Jalandhar, and
Chandigarh Tricity.
With the increase in Outreach Programme, our team
covered Mumbai, Pune, and Bangalore during the months
of September and October. Mumbai was covered by Mr
Yaman Sandhu (Head Sales) and Mr Samir Singh by
meeting the Channel Partners and investors individually,
whereas in Pune and Bangalore, we participated in
property exhibitions.
On August 17, 2015, we held a presentation for staff
of the Bhakra Beas Management Board at their
premises in Chandigarh, which was attended by over
40 officer-rank officials.
A presentation was arranged for over 150 lawyers at the
Bar Association Jalandhar on 17th October, 2015, where
the project updates were shared, followed by interaction
sessions.
DLF Punjab Team co-sponsored a marathon organized by
Indian School of Business, Mohali, at Sukhna Lake in
Chandigarh on 18th October. The event was attended by
over 300 participants and was a grand success.
The subvention was officially launched with a half page
advertisement in the Chandigarh Tribune on 22nd October
with a simultaneous outdoor campaign running in
Chandigarh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.
Progressive Punjab Summit
DLF Punjab actively participated in the biggest show of the
year, Progressive Punjab Summit 2015, organised by the
Punjab Government on October 28th and 29th, 2015. The
summit was attended by our Vice Chairman DLF Mr Rajeev
Singh, Chairman DLF Universal Limited Mr Mohit Gujral,
and Director North Mr Rakesh Kerwell. In the event, Hyde
Park, The Valley, and Samavana Kasauli projects were
showcased. The highlight of the Summit was the
announcement made by our Honorable Vice Chairman
about the huge future investments and development plans
for the region.

Chennai Duathlon 2015, held at DLF
Gardencity – Chennai, was a grand success.
DLF Gardencity was the start and finish point
for the second edition of the Chennai
Dualthon, which took place on 11th October
2015. Out of the 400 participants, 10 were
from DLF Gardencity and the remaining from
the rest of Chennai.
The Chennai Dualthon 2015 consisted of 10km
run -- 40km cycling -- 10km run. The event
began with registration starting at 4 AM. The
DLF City Club arranged for the breakfast and
cycle parking for all 400 participants.

Training, May 2015
Over 200 residents of DLF5 attended an Earthquake
Preparedness Training event at Club5 where, in the presence
of experienced professionals from the sectors of fire services,
security,
healthcare,
disaster
management,
and
infrastructure, they were informed about the Indian seismic
zones and steps taken by DLF5 to ensure safety of the
residents from earthquakes. At the event, critical areas like the
importance of adequate training to face difficult situations,
essential information like rescue system and plan, medical
needs and solutions, and constant availability of backend
support from DLF5 were highlighted. The need for formation of
Disaster Management Teams (DMTs) at condo-level was
emphasised and was agreed by the residents present at the

DLF5 Fun Olympics, August 2015
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, DLF organized a sports weekend
for DLF5 residents at DLF Club5. At the inter-condo event,
DLF5 Fun Olympics
residents of various condos competed against each other
across multiple sports disciplines including swimming,
football, squash, pithoo, kho-kho, and some fun races.
Though the emphasis was on fun and the spirit of
participation, over 150 residents participated with a
competitive spirit, making it an exciting event. The winners
were felicitated with medals and prizes which included
complementary stay at DLF Club5 and meals at popular
restaurants.
DLF5 Freedom Run, 15 August 2015
This was the 3rd edition of DLF5’s most popular event. A fun
6 km mini-marathon was organized for DLF5 residents which
started from DLF Club5. The day started with the hoisting of
the National Flag with an army band playing the National
Anthem. Residents were then flagged off for the run in the
DLF5 area with running areas demarcated and monitored by
security. Residents returned to spend time at DLF Club5 for
music, games, and entertainment. Trophies and medals were
handed to the winners. Approximately 1600 residents of DLF5
participated in the run and certificates were distributed to all.

Theatre Evening, August 2015
Theatre Evening
A theatre show was organized for The Crest owners at DLF
Club5 on August 14, 2015. Run for your Wife is the world’s
longest running and the funniest comedy ever written. The
British farce written by Ray Cooney was adapted for the Indian
audience. Approximately 300 homeowners of The Crest
enjoyed the show which was followed by dinner.

Senior Citizens Mazaa Programme
DLF5 organized the 3rd, 4th and 5th edition of the very
popular DLF5 Senior Citizens Programme— for the senior
citizens of the community. The event received tremendous
response with over 800 residents participating over the three
events. This was a good way for all young-at-heart elders to
interact with each other, ensuring a fun-filled time. The
enthusiasm was infectious as the gathering showed a great
sporting spirit by participating in games like antakshari,
tambola etc. Apart from fun, some relevant issues were also
debated like “How to Build relationships for Happy Living”,
and “Meditation and Benefits of Meditation”, among others.
DLF5 Durga Puja and Dussehra,

Durga Puja
Durga Puja at DLF5 was celebrated with the initiative and
active participation of many of its residents. With DLF offering
complete support to the enthusiastic residents, the residents
formed teams to work on each aspect of the puja. A key feature
was that the idol was made completely with eco-friendly
material. Adding to the sanctity of the puja, the community
members prepared all the seven required bhogs for the
Goddess themselves. The community bhog, an integral and
important part of the puja, was also prepared by the residents.
Dussehra
The evenings were filled with rich cultural fare holding up the
traditions of eastern India. Well known percussionist Jay
Bhattacharya from Kolkata performed Sufiyana and Baulana,
and was joined by the fondly-called Nightingale of Bengal,
Chandraboli Rudra Dutta, and Sourav Moni with his Bhatiyali
repertoire. On Dussehra, DLF arranged for a spectacular laser
show depicting the Ramayana and the final destruction of
Ravana. The victory of good over evil was integrated with the
victory over Ravana at the puja venue, drawing the navratras
and four days of festivities to a close. The event was attended
by over 4000 residents of DLF5 and many residents of nearby
residential communities.

In a unique initiative, DLF5 invited The Crest
homeowners to the project’s construction site to
witness the rapid progress achieved on site.
At the site, visiting homeowners were handed out
safety helmets and jackets before being escorted to a
specially-created “viewing platform”. Placed at a
vantage point, the viewing platform offered a
panoramic view of the entire site.
Top officials from DLF’s architecture and projects team
interacted with the homeowners along with project
management consultants, Mace, to give them details of
construction progress, innovative technologies being
used, and health, safety and environment initiatives being
followed. Enthusiastic future residents of The Crest posed
a lot of questions which were answered in detail by the
team present.
After the site visit, everyone moved to The Crest gallery
lawns where high-tea was organized with live music band.
Homeowners praised this first-of-a-kind initiative by DLF
and looked forward to more such visits at different stages
of progress of the project. Close to 100 owners of The Crest
visited the site for the event.

Hero Women’s Indian Open at the
Gary Player Golf Course, Gurgaon
After a gap of two years, the 9th edition of the European, Asian and Indian tri-sanctioned Hero Women's Indian Open
returned to the new and challenging Gary Player Design Championship Course at the DLF Golf and Country Club,
Gurgaon. This was the first professional golf event of any kind being hosted at the club since its opening. Indian golfers
including Vani Kapoor, Aditi Ashok, and Sharmila Nicollet lead the home challenge as France's Gwladys Nocera
returned to defend her title. The country’s only Ladies European Tour event was a three-day event and had an
increased prize money of $400,000. The event also witnessed some of the top golfers such as 2013 Indian Open
winner from Thailand Thidapa Suwannapura, Cheyenne Woods, niece of the US great Tiger Woods, Englishwomen
Melissa Reid, winner of the 2015 Turkish Open, Hannah Burke, 2015 Tipsport Golf Masters title holder, and Trish
Johnson. Much was spoken by these players through the week about the various challenges the new course had to
offer.
Skills Challenge Prize Ceremony
Skills Challenge
The event was kicked off by the skills challenge on
October 21. The event was contested between the
teams Rest of the World and Asian. Team Rest of the
world consisted of Gwladys Nocera, Melissa Reid,
Carly Booth and Cheyenne Woods, and Team Asia had
Vani Kapoor, Sharmila Nicollet, Thidapa Suwannapura,
and Kongraphan Patcharajutar. The Rest of the World
team beat Asia 3-1.
Pro Am
The Pro Am was held on October 22. Almost 240
amateurs and professionals took part in the event.
Some of the amateurs participating in the event were
playing the back-nine for the first time. The winner of
the morning Pro Am was the team of Sarah Kemp, Arun
Kumar, Mahender Singh and Chander Bhan with a
score of 131.4, and the afternoon Pro Am was won by
the team of Vaishavi Sinha, Kunal Jaidka, Amit Sood
and Lovy Khosla with a score of 130.6.
Championship Rounds
The three-day event was kicked off on October 23.
Amateur Aditi Ashok emerged as the best placed
Indian at tied 13th but the week belonged to Emily
Kristine Pedersen, who secured her maiden Ladies
European Tour title with a wire-to-wire victory. She shot
a one-over 73 to finish clear of the nearest challengers
Malene Jorgensen, Becky Morgan, and Cheyenne
Woods. Emily was the only player not to have shot over
par for the three days of tournament play.

Reflecting the true essence of community living, Ramleela
was organised by DLF Gardencity at New Town Heights
in Sector 90, Gurgaon. Staged through a dramatic
representation, Ramleela took place on a decorated
stage where performers wore heavy costumes and

labourers. The initiative has been taken with a view to
infuse healthy habits into the busy lifestyle of everyone
today.
Placement camps for several national and multinational
companies were organised all across 36 DLF Skill
Centres.
A Summer Camp was organised at Ridge Valley School,
Gurgaon on 4th July -5th July. Over 200 DLF scholars
attended the special sessions on different creative and
learning techniques. To help scholars make informed
career decisions and get family support, various
sessions on effective parenting and career prospects for
the scholars were also organised for the parents on 5th
July.

International Award for Aarogyam
Under Aarogyam, the foundation runs fully functional
primary health centres, multi-specialty clinics and
preventive healthcare through fumigation and
awareness camps on malnutrition, anaemia, and
general well-being. A total of 52 projects across Asia
were selected as the recipients of this year’s awards by
Enterprise Asia.
DLF Foundation CEO Lt. Gen Rajender Singh expressed
his delight on winning the award and stated that the
award created a platform, which successfully raised
awareness on increased importance of CSR in the
society. He further said, “This award is a recognition of
the Foundation’s rich heritage that drives sustainable
growth.”

DLF Cybercity Unites to Donate Blood and Save Lives
DLF Foundation along with Saudi Basic Industries Corporation and Bloodconnect
observed Annual World Blood Donor Day.
DLF Foundation in collaboration with Saudi Basic
Industries Corporation (SABIC) and BloodConnect
organised blood donation camps from 8th June to 12th
June to observe the annual World Blood Donor Day on
14th June, 2015. More than 1024 units of blood were
collected at the camps with hundreds of young
enthusiastic professionals turning out in large numbers to
donate blood at nine different camps across the Cyber
City.
“I had donated blood last year too and I believe that it is
my duty to donate blood and save lives. Donating blood
is a simple and painless procedure, and such drives
sensitize people,” said Naina Arora, HR Executive,
Randstand. Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner T.L.
Satyaprakash too donated blood on the last day of the
camp. The collected units of blood were donated to
different hospitals of the Delhi NCR such as AIIMS,
Safdarjung Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Deen
Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital,
Lady Hardinge Memorial Hospital and Red Cross
Society.
“The rise in the surgeries conducted in super-specialty
hospitals has led to an increase in the demand for blood.
Such blood donation camps should be organised
regularly to meet the rising demand,” said Mr.
Satyaprakash.
DLF Foundation firmly believes that there is an
increasing need to organise such blood donation camps
and sensitise and educate people on blood donation.
The blood donation drive, a community-focused
initiative, now in its third year, is held annually where
employees and residents of Gurgaon donate blood
tosave lives. Ritesh Sinha, Associate Director, DLF
Foundation, said, “Safe blood supplies are scarce,
specially in India. The World Blood Donor Day is an
occasion to thank donors and raise awareness on the
problem. DLF Foundation is delighted to collaborate
once again with SABIC, and it is heartening to see
professionals and residents of Gurgaon turning up in
large numbers to support the noble cause.”
According to the World Health Organization, India needs
a minimum of 12 million units of blood to meet its basic
requirement, with Delhi/NCR alone facing an annual
shortage of 100,000 units of blood. Blood donation helps
meet only about 75 percent of the national requirement.

for the
Underprivileged
DLF Foundation inaugurated two fully solar operated
wellness centres at DLF City Phase-I and Phase-II on 5th
May, 2015 as part of its Urban Underprivileged
Development Programme. The environment-friendly
centres are first-of-their-kind in DLF City as they run on
rooftop solar panels. The centres managed by ICICI
Lombard are open to general public for free consultation
services. They aim to cater to more than 25,000 people
from nearby villages and a large population of domestic
helpers and construction labourers.
Cluster Development Programme
Senior officials from DLF Foundation and ICICI Lombard,
and members of several DLF City RWAs were present at
the inaugural ceremony of the centres in DLF Phase-I.
Wellness centres, open six days a week, will
conduct maternal care programmes, monthly dental
camps, heart check-ups, audiometry checkups,
vaccination drives, and 35 basic lab tests.
Village Cluster Development
Programme
Five years ago, DLF Foundation’s Village Cluster
Development Programme opened Primary Health
Centres in targeted villages to provide immediate
medical services to the poor in the rural areas. The
rationale behind opening the centres was that
healthcare at primary level was not accessible to the
rural poor. The outcome of the initiative was positive
as the programme received phenomenal response
with thousands of people visiting the centres every
month.
With the growing demand for healthcare, ‘laboratory
in a suitcase’ that can conduct more than 38 essential
diagnostic tests model, has also been introduced.
Multi-specialty camps are organised quarterly at the
two clusters, comprising of ten villages. To address
emergency cases, telemedicine has been introduced
where local health workers consult an on-call doctor
through video calling. In addition to this, mobile
medicare services are provided on daily basis to
reach out to areas that are far and remote.

With an objective to develop, hone and impart soft
skills, and give career direction to DLF Urban School
Scholars, an annual summer workshop covered under
the Nurturing Talent Programme was held from 4th July
to 5th July, at Ridge Valley School, Gurgaon. Over 200
DLF scholars participated in the open-ended camp that
offered them the opportunity to combine learning and
creative enrichment, and reinforce essential soft skills
that are crucial for academic and professional success.
The 250 parents of the scholars, who actively
participated in the workshop, were encouraged to
create positive and supportive environment for their

Soft Skill Development for Scholars
Sessions for students from Class VII to XII covered a
range of topics relating to Character Building, Study
Skills, Success Formula, Critical Thinking and The
Volcano Within (dealing with anger). While students from
Class I to III were given lessons on Learning to Deal with
Changes and Overcoming Evil with Good, and how to
make useful things with the help of craftwork, students of
Class IV to VI were trained in effective communication
and phonics. They were also given a talk on Healthy
Body, Healthy Mind.
Nurturing Talent Programme
The Nurturing Talent Programme, launched in 2011, is
one of the flagship initiatives of DLF Foundation. It is a
scholarship programme with a unique talent nurturing
programme for the children of the weaker sections of the
society. The programme adopts a unique methodology
– discover talent in poor children from rural and urban
villages and groom them into the leaders of tomorrow.
Students of Class V and above are admissible in the
programme and are nurtured till they are educated
enough to select a specific career for themselves. After
charting out an individualised scholar development
plan, educators, career experts, professional social
workers, counselors, company employees and youth
workers channelise their knowledge, skills, assets and
networks to build and develop the talent of the scholars.

problems pertaining to their wards with Professional
Counselor Dr. Anita Puri.

High achievers from Class VI to XII of the academic
year 2014-15 were recognised for their exemplary
academic performance at the valedictory meet on 5th
July. Over 450 participants, including scholars and
parents attended the meet. While addressing the
scholars, Chief Guest Lt. General Rajender Singh
(Retd.), who is also the DLF Foundation CEO, opined,
“Such summer camps create a stimulating environment
for children where they are encouraged to dig into the
deep recesses of the minds and know themselves
better.” Forty-two scholars from Jhankar Sr. Secondary
School performed an enchanting ballet Chandalika
highlighting untouchability. The audience were
spellbound by the captivating performance. The
summer camp was truly an incredible experience for
all.

Training
Workshop
To help teachers and principals get off to a good
start this academic session, the Nurturing Talent
Programme conducted an innovative Faculty
Development Programme for 38 teachers of four
partner schools from 29th June to 30th June, 2015
at Ridge Valley School, Gurgaon. There were
eighteen teachers from Jhankar Sr. Secondary
School, eight from Drona Public School, eight from
St. Paul’s School and four from Lady Florence
Convent School, who participated in the
programme.
Principals of Jhankar Sr. Secondary School and St.
Paul’s School too attended the workshop that
began with a brief orientation by DLF Foundation Head
Special Project Ms. Meenakkshi H. Singh. In the orientation,
she aligned teachers with the foundation’s vision to bring out
the inherent genius in scholars. This was then followed by an
engaging icebreaker address by DLF Foundation Director
Programme Mr. PK Joseph.
The teachers were intensively trained on Cumulative
Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) as per the guidelines laid
down by the CBSE. Renowned educationist and a certified
trainer for the CCE from the CBSE Ms. Veena Raizada
conducted the session where challenges faced in the
implementation of the CCE were discussed.
On the second day, teachers participated in two sessions Multiple Intelligences and Classroom Management,
conducted by psychologist Bharati Lal Kapoor. Ms. Kapoor
explained Howard Gardener’s ‘Theory of Multiple
Intelligences’ and its importance in today’s scenario. During
the Multiple Intelligence session, the faculty learnt about
various techniques to manage classrooms.
Ms. Chandni, a teacher from Jhankar Sr. Sec School shared
her Experience and said, “The training covered a range of
practical and relevant strategies that I could relate to through
my own experiences”. The faculty members and the
principals of partner schools appreciated the effort by DLF
Foundation. They opined that the training inspired them to do
better and that they looked forward to more such sessions in
the future.

Helps Youth Find
Employment
DLF Foundation’s Skill Programme has gone a long way in achieving its primary objective – increase in employment
among marginalised youth through vocational training programmes. A whopping 50 percent of the 13,000
underprivileged youth, who have been trained in 36 well-equipped skill development training centres across the
country, have been placed with over 50 reputed brands in the industry.
In recent placement drives organised across all centres, trained youth were hired by leading companies including Ma
Foi Management, TVS Logistics Limited, KFC Yum Restaurants, Eureka Forbes, Renault Nissan India, Hinduja Global
Solutions and Caterpillar India Private Limited, Serco BPO and Perfetti. The recruitment drive offered a platform to the
organisations to meet the candidates and employ skilled and committed youth.
Officials from Rural Shores visited DLF Skill Training Centres in Andhra Pradesh and recruited 100 candidates out of
175 interviewed. LE Infra officials hired 20 candidates from the 65 interviewed at the DLF Skill Training Centre in
Sriperambudur.
K. Murali Mohan of Viveks Limited, leading consumer electronics and home appliances retail chain, said, “The industry
is fast expanding, and we are on the lookout for skilled manpower. DLF Skill Training Centres focus on providing
employment readiness skills to youth. It makes our recruitment process easier.” CII and McKinsey have recognized
Viveks Limited as one of the ‘Most Trusted’ brands.

In India, where the dropout rate from schools is very
high and the youth is mostly unskilled and lacks
relevant jobs skills, Mani benefitted enormously from
the DLF Skill Programme conducted in partnership with
other vocational training organisations.
Mani’s parents who are daily wagers struggled to make
both ends meet, but they never compromised on their
son’s education. Mani, however, could not clear his
class X exams even after four attempts.
“I lacked focus in school as I could not escape from the
hardships my family was going through due to
poverty,” said the 18-year-old. His life had come to a
standstill when his family and friends suggested he
pursued a technical programme. He joined DLF
Training Centre in Chennai and enrolled for the
Air-conditioning Mechanic Programme. Now, he is
working at BMC AC World and earning Rs.15000 a
month.
Koteeswaran S, whose father is an auto driver, has a
similar story to share. The 18-year-old failed his class X
exams several times before joining DLF Skill Centre,
Tiruvallur. After he completed the short-term technical
course, he got recruited as a service engineer, at
Ahdhitya Core Industries. He is now earning Rs.8,000 a
month. For Mani and Koteeswaran, their respective
jobs have enabled them to support themselves and
their families, thus permanently breaking the vicious
cycle of poverty.
Being an employment assured programme, the Skill
Development Programme places trained youth with the
leading corporate brands such as Reliance Fresh,
Shashi Garments, Lakme, McDonalds, ICICI, HDFC,
CNG PG Product, Future Group Pvt. Ltd., Pizza Hut,
Domino’s, Godrej, Aditya Birla Retails Pvt. Ltd. and
Sagar Ratna Restaurant, among others. Many youth
have also started their ventures.
‘Skill a Million’ Programme
DLF Foundation’s flagship programme ‘Skill a Million’
has a clear mandate of linking learning with
employment and training thousands of young people in
India. The skill centres impart industry-based
vocational skill training through a mix of unique models
including onsite ‘earn and learn’ platforms.

Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh,
Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh to Bangalore,
Chikballapur, Mullanpur, Indore, Bulundshahr, Jaipur,
Gurgaon, Sanand and Chandoliya.
Mona is one such entrepreneur. The 24-year-old
enrolled herself for a vocational training course in
Beauty and Haircare at DLF training centre in her village
Chakarpur, Gurgaon. Mona said, “The Beauty and
Haircare course changed my life. The course
encouraged me and boosted my confidence
immensely. I have opened my own beauty parlour and
earn Rs. 9000 per month. I am able to look after my
family of two brothers and father and mother. In the
future, I want to set up a training centre and help needy
girls like me”.
The programme is focused on providing soft skills
training and job placement to poor unemployed youth.
In an effort to close the skills gaps in various sectors, the
programme will support the Government of India in
achieving its overall target - train 500 million Indians by
2022.

The Cluster Project of DLF Foundation is a holistic
approach to development and contributes to five major
development areas: social, economic, environment,
health, and education. By placing initial emphasis on
Health and Social development however, a platform is
created from which further development can be
sustained. The main objective of this programme is to
improve the quality of the life of people.
The DLF Foundation organized a PRI meet on the
evening of Deepawali on 10th Nov 2015 at Nawada
Fatehpur Village which is a part of our adopted cluster
with an aim to review the progress of different pillars of
development work with Panchayat members from the
villages and improve
the synergy in different
programme components e.g. Primary Health Care
Services including Telemedicine, Solid Waste
Management, Rural Information Centre and provision
for drinking water.
PRI members and team iGD, the implementing partner
of DLF Foundation, discussed the various challenges
being faced by the projects and how a hand-in-hand
work by the our team and the community can
contribute for solving such glitches.
They were specifically made aware about the onus on
keeping the Solid Waste Management successful by
overtaking the ownership of the project & contributing a
nominal amount regularly for its sustainability.
An orientation program was also organised with the
Anganwadi workers and Asha workers in the village
where 30 Anganwadi and Asha workers attended the
program.
Dr Provat Kumar Goswami, Senior Advisor at the
Institute for Global Development was the key speaker
on the occasion.
