SANDIBE OKAVANGO SAFARI LODGE
SANDIBE OKAVANGO SAFARI LODGE
Botswana’s Okavango Delta oasis of sparkling lagoons, meandering channels and overgrown islands teeming
with wildlife sparkle like a jewel at the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Known as “the river that never finds the
sea”, crystal clear channels spread over the thirst lands of the Kalahari with their papyrus-fringed banks and
fertile floating islands.
Adapted for a life in and out of water, a large population of mammal can be seen in its wilderness. The elegant
red lechwe and shy sitatunga are found in these wetlands whilst lion, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog
share the floodplains with large herds of elephant and buffalo. Hippo inhabits the deeper channels and
lagoons, while honey badgers can be seen in broad daylight. Tall termite mounds are homes for families of
dwarf and banded mongoose. Iridescent dragonflies, frogs of every colour and jewel-like kingfishers live in
the papyrus-lined waterway banks.
There are four magnificent lodges in the nature paradise of Okavango Delta, each with its own individual
charm and character: Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge, Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp, Xaranna Okavango
Delta Camp and Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge.

ABOUT THE CAMP
Tucked away under a cool forest canopy of wild palms and gnarled fig trees, Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge is
just a few metres from the water, which glints through a maze of brilliant green papyrus. Sits in a private
concession, Sandibe has traverse over 27 000 hectares (66 700 acres) of wilderness adjacent to the Moremi
Game Reserve. Behind the Lodge, golden-grassed floodplains stretch into the distance, framed by lush palm
islands and the spires of giant termite mounds. The beautiful organic architecture of the thatched Lodge blends
seamlessly with one of Africa’s most breathtaking landscapes. All eight thatched en-suite cottage features open
air showers, allowing guests to feel part of the forest.
Walls are airy screens, admitting the refreshing Okavango breezes, and the cottages are furnished in a fusion of
ochres and tactile textures – from leather and silk to rough-hewn wood. Private decks right on the Delta are
idyllic vantage points in this birdwatcher’s paradise. Tall overarching trees inspire the soaring volumes of the
guest sitting and dining area with quiet hammocked decks offering views across the wetlands and savannah
grasslands. At night, a constellation of candles illuminate the boma with its al fresco Pan African banquet and
fine wines.
Alternatively, private decks provide a romantic setting for an intimate candlelit dinner for two upon request. The
shaded swimming pool is a refreshing oasis for an après-lunch cool off.
