PRO-LIFE CORNER: In this year of mercy, we can
use the Corporal Acts of Mercy to help those who are in
crisis pregnancies and also those who are post-abortive
women.—continued from last week
Visit the prisoners — According to the Bureau of
Justice, 1 in 25 women in state prisons and 1 in 33 in
federal prisons are pregnant when admitted to prison.
Through our presence and prayers, pro-lifers can offer
desperately needed support to these mothers-to-be.
Bury the dead—In order to facilitate healing, Project
Rachel, the Church’s ministry to post-abortion men and
women, offers a plethora of suggestions for those in pain.
Among them: to identify the child as a boy or as a girl, to
give the child a name, and to establish for him or her
some kind of memorial. Such concrete action steps can
help bring healing and closure to men and women who
wish to remember and pray for the children they never got
to know.
Give alms to the poor—All throughout the United
States, crisis pregnancy centers operate often on
shoestring budgets and by depending on the kindness of
volunteers and donations. Pro-lifers can distribute alms to
these worthy institutions in the form of baby bottles,
diapers, clothes and other necessities that the
organizations, in turn, can distribute to new mothers.

Last week our young disciples went to the movies to see
“The Young Messiah”. This was an inspirational movie
that shows Jesus Christ at the age of seven from his
perspective. The movie was based on a novel by Ann Rice
called "Christ the Lord - Out of Egypt". It is an
inspirational depiction of Jesus as a regular kid, running
and playing, but realizing that he has powers beyond his
understanding at that point.
There are many movies out now and coming to theatres
near you, such as “The Risen”, “The Young Disciple”, “The
Ten Commandments”, “Ben Hur”, “God is Not Dead 2”,
etc. Please go to see them and fill those seats in the
theatres!
No meeting tonight. Happy Easter! See you next
Sunday, April 3rd from 7 to 9! We will have a guest
speaker!

Easter Sunday of The Lord’s Resurrection ~ March 27, 2016
HIS WORD TODAY
“They found the stone rolled back from the tomb; but when they entered the tomb they did not find
the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were still at a loss what to think of this, two men in dazzling
garments appeared beside them. Terrified, the women bowed to the ground. The men said to them:
‘Why do you search for the living among the dead. He is not here, he has been raised up…’ On their
return from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and the others.”
It is our faith in the Risen Lord which gathers us today. The
greatest miracle of Jesus summons us to say ‘I believe.’ Others
might ask of us ‘why do you search for Jesus today?’ ‘Do you really
believe He is alive?’
It is our Easter faith, which prompts us to be filled with joy and
happiness. It is our faith in Christ among us, which strengthens and
supports us. Our search today is to discover the living Christ
among us. Pope Francis has told us ‘Jesus Christ is the face of the
Father’s mercy… Mercy has become living and visible in Jesus of
Nazareth.’
Not unlike the women, we are believers and bring the good news
of the Risen Christ to others. It is this Easter faith which brings
healing and hope. It is this faith which gives meaning to our lives.
We proclaim the great Easter cry ‘Alleluia.’
Daily Readings for the Week
SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER
April 3, 2016
First Reading: Acts 5:12-16
The people held the apostles in great esteem and
brought sick people to them to be healed. Although
some were afraid to be known, the number of Jesus'
followers continued to grow steadily.
Second Reading: Revelation 1:9-11a, 12-13, 17-19
John depicts a vision of lamp-stands of gold and one
like the Son of Man in a robe with a sash of gold. This
apparition told John he had nothing to fear and then
described himself as one who was dead but now lived
again. He then instructed John to record any other
visions he might have.
Gospel: John 20:19-31
Jesus appeared to the disciples and breathed on them
saying, "Receive the Holy Spirit." He gives them the
power to forgive people's sins or hold them
accountable. Thomas, who was not present, refused
to believe Jesus had appeared until he came to them
once more. Jesus told Thomas to believe and added,
"Blessed are those who have not seen and have
believed."
Monday - Acts 2:14, 22-33; Mt 28:8-15
Tuesday - Acts 2:36-41; Jn 20:11-18
Wednesday - Acts 3:1-10; Lk 24:13-35
Thursday - Acts 3:11-26; Lk 24:35-48
Friday - Acts 4:1-12; Jn 21:1-14
Saturday - Acts 4:13-21; Mk 16:9-15
A VOCATION VIEW . . .
What stones are being moved away so you
can be a minister of the Gospel? Consider
inviting someone to be a Sister, Brother, Priest, or
Deacon. Spread the good news: “Jesus is risen!”
(John 20:1-9).

Bequests are ideal for remembering those who will come to St. Leo the Great Church after us—in our Catholic Christian
Mission. Or, you may wish to name St. Leo’s as a beneficiary of an insurance policy or other financial instrument. The
designation would be: Church of St. Leo the Great, 50 Hurley’s Lane, Lincroft, NJ 07738. If in doubt, please call us and
we will be happy to work with your attorney or financial advisor. Thank you for your consideration.
