The First Wilderness Heritage Corridor in
the Adirondack Mountains of New York
State, follows the Upper Hudson River Valley
from Saratoga Springs to Tawahus. This area first served as a
hunting ground for the Indian people who had established trails
connecting the Mohawk Valley to the Champlain Valley. The
construction of a rail system after the Civil War offered easy
access for vacationers, establishing lavish resorts and hotels
