BACKBEAT
BANGALORE TIMES, THE TIMES OF INDIA
BACK IN TOWN:
MONEY
MATTERS:
Akshay Kumar
I
s namma Uppi dada
who was away in Dubai to
shoot for his latest directorial
starring Nayanthara. After a week’s hectic
shoot, the actor is now looking to spend some
quality time with his wife and kids.
Akshay’s tax
travails
A
kshay Kumar
edged past
many other
stars in Bollywood to
become the highest tax
payer for the financial
year 2008-2009. This
year Shah Rukh Khan
and Kareena Kapoor
happen to be the highest advance tax payers
from Bollywood. What
is interesting though is
that the CBEC (Central
Board of Excise and
Customs), has roped in
apna Akki to feature in
a television commercial urging people to
pay their taxes
honestly and on time.
Apparently, the CBEC
felt Akki is the best
person to convey the
message of tax
compliance, because
for the last four years
this Bollywood hottie
has been diligently
paying his service tax
in advance. It’s all
about money, honey!
One more Khan
gets inked
A
week ago we told you about how
Bollywood superstar Hrithik
Roshan’s wife Sussanne Khan got
herself a tattoo on her forearm. Well there
was one small goof up there. Apparently, the
tattoo artist who inked Sussanne, is
called Abhinandan and not
Vishwas, as reported.
What is also interesting
is that after seeing
Sussanne’s tattoo, her sister-in-law Malaika Khan
(Zayed Khan’s wife) also
wanted one immediately.
So, Sussanne introduced
her to Abhinandan. Now,
Malaika has been inked too.
Both the Khan women,
known for their good
wardrobes, are making an
additional style statement with
their individual tattoos.

A
ctor Ajith seems to have taken to
motor car racing with a
vengeance. The 39-year-old star
is all set to race at the best tracks in
the world at the FIA Formula Two
Championship this year. He will join
the bandwagon of prominent racers
Armaan Ebrahim and Parthiva
Sureshwaran during the stint.
Meanwhile, there has been no
official confirmation about Ajith’s
50th film with director Gautham
Menon, produced by Dayanidhi
Azhagiri.
His fans are wondering if their
Thala’s film will take off as there
has been no announcement about
the film by either the producer or
director.
Ajith, in the meantime, seems to
have turned his attention towards
motor sports, after his lukewarm
response to his last release Aasal.
Will the actor make it in the racing
track? We have to wait and watch.
GURL Z
AWESTRUCK: Salman Khan and Zarine Khan
CLOTHING
MUMBAI
Zarine is tongue-tied
Z
arine Khan, the newbie from Veer, is tongue-tied in
her mentor Salman Khan’s presence. While Salman
is taking an active interest in her career (he takes
an interest in everyone’s career — his brothers’s, his
brother-in-law’s) and getting the best of people to guide
her, the actress is said to be petrified of him. There are
those who say Zarine doesn’t utter a word in his presence.
Instead, she stares hard at her feet whenever Salman is
around. Such dedication to her godfather is sincerely
touching. Ask Subhash Ghai and Ram Gopal Varma,
whose finds have flown the coup after the initial ‘we’llremain-sincere-for-life’ speeches.
