PARENT INFORMATION SESSION
Dear Parents,
UNIFORM: SPORTS SHORTS– Parents are invited to
comment on a proposal to introduce sports shorts for
girls. It is intended to phase in these shorts from 2015
instead of the culottes which are currently part of the
school uniform for girls. The suggested sport shorts would
be unisex shorts, available to both girls and boys. The
brand and style of short is the same currently used at
Mount St Patrick College. An embroidered lettering of
M.S.P.P would be placed on the bottom left leg. The
recommended price for this particular type of short is
$29.95. The unisex sport shorts will be on display in our school foyer until next
Friday 15th Aug. Your feedback is important in making a final decision for 2015.
MONSTER RAFFLE: Great prizes on offer! See page 3 for more details. Ticket
booklets will be distributed next week. One booklet per family. Extra booklets are
available upon request. Please support our second and final major fundraiser for
the year.
STUDENT PORTFOLIOS: Your child’s student portfolio will be sent home twice
termly. The portfolios will be sent home next week (Week 5) and then again in
the last week of term to be viewed and signed by parents. The portfolios are due
back at school the following Monday.
PARENT CONTACT LIST: We are currently updating our Class Contact list for
Term 3. If you are a new family to our school or did not have your family name
included at the beginning of the year – but would now like to have your family
name added – please complete details located on page 6 by next Tuesday .
Updated lists will be distributed on Thursday of next week.
Enjoy your week!

BYRON BAY WRITER’S FESTIVAL
Last Tuesday, Middle School had the great privilege to visit the Byron Bay Writer's
festival at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre. Sally Rippin and Andy Griffiths were the
two extraordinary writers that presented. They explained to us where their ideas came
from for their books and how we can get writing ideas from our experiences. Andy
Griffiths told us a lot of stories about disgusting stuff and new ways to annoy our
teachers. Sally Rippin showed us pictures of her as a child and explained how she got
into writing stories. She also told us that she tested the stories she wrote on her son. If
he kept still and listened, the story was a winner but if he wriggled around alot it was
in need of improvement. At the end we were allowed to buy books and get them
signed by Andy and Sally. It was a great experience and we hope to go back next
year.
