After the nomination was submitted, the contest required the

for only one of the 50 National Nominees. The online voting

The online voting was fast and furious and Liz shot
immediately into the Top 10 and stayed there throughout the
entire three week voting period! The excitement spread quickly
as the media helped spread the news about the contest and
asked what some of our dream renovations would be: a better
visitation area for adopters to experience, windows that open
for ventilation, new hygienic flooring, an updated front office
as well as new paint throughout!

Notes and Letters
I just wanted to share that Nikki had a
great first night. We learned that she is a
bed hog. We took her to Petco for her name
tag and along the way she initiated
friendships with other dogs. She was by far
the friendliest and kindest dog there. She
has taken a liking to my parent’s dog and
spent a good hour playing in the yard with
him. She's a fast dog and it was great to see
her energetic playful side. Nikki, in just one
day/night, has taken great affection and
loyalty to us. It didn't matter where or who
we were with, she stayed curled up to her
new parents. She is such a beautiful dog and
we couldn't be more thankful for the
opportunity you have given us. We will always
be grateful.
Hi Liz,
Thank you so much for holding onto my
wonderful Stanley (aka Thunder) until I was
able to see him on tv, meet him and add him to
my family. He is a sweet, sweet boy. His chin
acne is all gone. Upstairs, he has access to
four vantage points to keep track of the outside
world. Downstairs, he enjoys the all-glass
sunroom. I believe he is happy in his new
home. The evolving relationship between
Stanley and Missy has gone exceptionally well.
We are all now sleeping in the same bed!!
Hope you and everyone at the Friends of the
Shelter have a greatly successful 2015.
Sending you greetings and photos so you can see
how content I am in my home. When I am not
dozing off, I’m in the cat condo watching birds
through the window or lying on Mommy’s chest,
paws around her neck and my head under her chin.
In between naps, I race around with my mice and
toys. Tis the season for me to bat around
ornaments I steal from the tree. Mommy (Patricia)
is not too crazy about my visits to the tree. Other
times, I romp with Rascal or chase Elsa, but she
hisses when I stalk and pounce her and she bops
me on the head. Over the holidays, I met family
and friends and did great with all the guests. At
Gram’s (Dee) I romped with Romeo, Cupid, and
Probie and played with their toys but Gramma
wouldn’t let me take any ornaments. I found such
a good home where I’m safe and loved by all…
except Elsa, the tortie. Thanks for taking care of
me at the shelter. Lots of wishes for a happy,
healthy, and rewarding new year. Hope everyone
there finds a forever home like I did. Purrs &

My new place is so

sleep in their room when
I'm in the crate so I don't
get scared or lonely at
night. I love the AC :)
Mommy and Daddy take
me to the park everyday
where I explore and meet
lots of people. Everybody
thinks I'm so cute! I love
my new family! They tell
me how lucky they are and
how much they love me
everyday. Mommy and
Daddy are so proud that I
behave so well at home.
They are so happy and I
am too :) Thank you for
everything! !
Belle is relaxed and seems happy. She
checked out the place, ate a little, rolled on the
carpet, and took a nap under the love seat.
She wouldn’t let me out of her sight when she
first came in and has been seeking me out for
petting throughout the day. Right now she is
napping under the bedroom dresser. I’ll know
she’s completely relaxed when she naps on
the loveseat or bed and not under anything.
She just ran into the living room with a happy
“hello, nap is over!” meow…LOL
I am so thrilled that I adopted her!!!
Update: Well it is official… Belle is Queen of
the Castle!!! Last night I found her napping
on the bed and later she was on the bed with
me for a while. We had the midnight crazies
when she ran all around the apartment,
pounced on me in the bed, and proceeded on
her way. This morning she was very kittenish.
My home is back to normal. I’m really enjoying
her and I feel that she is happy! She loves
chasing treats and batting them around before
she eats them. She loves the bed and each
day she’s a bit more affectionate.
You were so
right about her!

EDITOR’S NOTE: TATUM is an all-star American
Staffordshire (aka Pit Bull), a dog none of us will ever
forget -- this is the life we all hoped he would have.
Tatum is an ambassador for his breed, and please tell
everyone who meets him what wonderful dogs are
waiting for them down at their local shelter….

I know it's been quite some time since we brought
Tatum home with us. We couldn't be happier! He is
great with the kids and is a good guard dog when he
isn't snoring away on the couch. He has adjusted well to the point he is no longer in a crate. The couch is his
"comfy" place and we are ok with that. Here's a few
things we have learned about Tatum:
1. He LOVES cheese!
2. He loves steak too!
3. He only likes to get brushed when he is
shedding and sometimes he doesn't even like that!
4. He loves to give kisses.
5. He LOVES to chase rabbits.
6. He likes long walks and stops by EVERY tree
along the way.
7. He doesn't like small dogs unless they have a big
dog attitude.
8. He hears his Daddy's car before it hits the
parking lot and is waiting by the door.
9. Our bird sounding doorbell makes him nuts. (lol)
10. He just loves to be cuddled and loved.
Thank you for letting us adopt him.
He is a wonderful addition to our family.
