Our members are continuing to compete for the Federation in a variety of finals
this month, all having qualified at County or SWA finals. Events include Fence
Erecting, Stockman of the Year, Cookery team event, Junior - Intermediate &
Senior Floristry skills.

The Summer Shows have enjoyed glorious weather with many YFC members making the most of exhibiting
for their marquees or stockjudging. West Group YFC hosted the Stockjudging at Dunster Show. Thank you
to all who helped make the marquee a great example of what young farmers is all about. One of the
judges Mrs Nikki Cottrell commented how encouraging it was that so many junior stockjudgers were keen
to learn.

Fosse Group – Wells & Glastonbury YFC, Farrington Gurney YFC & Frome YFC attended Mid Somerset Show
enjoying a busy day serving tea & coffee, raising funds for the rally by stewarding the car park and making
a cheque presentation to RABI. As you will note from the stockjudging results there was a very good
uptake for Stockjudging with just short of 30 members competing with the judges praising the high
standard. Thank you to Brenda Wear, Rachel Stamp, Brian Clothier, Nick Hill, Tim Quick & Andy Creed for
judging – Alison Whitcombe & Kate Lyons for assisting.
Office Report
We are very grateful to Tricia Avery for ably stepping into assist with the
Administration for the past few weeks.
Anna is now on maternity leave and we wish Andy and Anna a few weeks
of calm before the baby arrives at the end of the month. Skills
certificates will be distributed at Members council AGM.
With the news that Somerset YFC will no longer receive funding from
Somerset County Council, comes new efforts to fundraise. John &
Wendy Welland have kindly offered their farm to hold a Fun Ride on the

21 , which will be the first of some new events in the YFC programme.
