Justin Garza tossed the fourth no-hitter in Titans history as Fullerton defeated CSUN,
3-0, on May 23 at Goodwin Field. CSUF advanced to the Stillwater Regional, making
the NCAA Tournament after ending the season on a seven-game winning streak.
Women’s basketball record broken
In his first year as head coach, Daron Park led the Titans to their most wins (12) since
2010. Fullerton’s 67-62 win at UCSB on Jan. 25 signified the end of a 23-year losing
streak in Santa Barbara.

Cal State Fullerton signed a licensing agreement with Nike and the Department
continued its branding effort at facilities and within marketing.

Cal State Fullerton played host to the DIRECTV Wooden Legacy, an all-new multiteam collegiate basketball tournament. The three-day event over Thanksgiving
weekend attracted a record 14,982 fans.

Cal State Fullerton’s athletic facilities featured
several upgrades during 2013-14, beginning
with the unveiling of a new floor design for
48-year old Titan Gym. The Titans also added “Cal State Fullerton” ribbons around Titan
Gym.
In addition, Titan Tennis Courts received
resurfacing, new signage and an individual court scoring system, while the track and
field/cross country programs remodeled their
locker rooms. In November, Cal State Fullerton Athletic Director Jim Donovan, Assistant

The CSUF men’s basketball team used constant energy to knock off LBSU, 84-76, at
Titan Gym on March 1 in front of 1,806 on the newly-designed Titan Gym floor.
Cal State Fullerton’s increase in ticketing revenue was spearheaded by Jenn Rudy, Athletics Ticket Manager. After reporting
a total of $385,000 in ticket sales for 2012-13, the Titans totaled $476,738 for 2013-14. Season tickets for men’s basketball, baseball and softball helped to increase ticketing revenue
throughout the fiscal year as well as single-game ticket price
increases and an aggerssive marketing approach.

DANCE TITLE
The Titan Dance Team clinched its 13th UDA/UCA Collegiate National Championship
in January. The Titans competed in the Division I Jazz category.
Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing Aaron Tapper
oversaw securing Cal State Fullerton $186,000 in sponsorships, an improvement of $66,000 from 2012-13. Sponsorships included Brian’s/Big B’s BBQ, Buffalo Wild Wings,
Donate Life Run/Walk, Kaiser Permanente, Majestic Printing
Services, Specific Media, Titan Shops, Straub Distributing
and Jersey Mike’s Subs.

Off the field a total of 48 student-athletes received either Big West or Mountain
Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic awards. Sixty Titan student-athletes received
their respective degrees spanning 26 majors.

As approved by the Student Fee Committee in the spring, President García and CSU
Chancellor White in the spring, the Student Success Imitative (SSI) includes $60
annually, per student, for athletic facilities.
Director of Development Greg Paules, along with his staff,
continued to advance fundraising goals for the athletics
department with over 500 donors contributing $691,545
during the fiscal year, an improvement from last year’s figure of $493,664. Such noted events as the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner, the Folino Invitational
Golf Tournament and Dinner with the Titans contributed to
the increase.

AUSTIN DIEMER - BASEBALL
The Communications/Broadcast Journalism major participates in
the annual “Challenger Clinic”, working closely with individuals
with special needs, and he volunteered at the Barnyard Wiffle
Ball Invitational. Carrying a 3.77 GPA, Diemer has earned Dean’s
List honors in each of his semesters as a Titan. In 2013, he was
named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII Team and to
the Big West Conference All-Academic Team.

TITANS ON THE TUBE
With a 3.95 GPA, the communications major has been named
a Dean’s Scholar, a President’s Scholar and has earned Dean’s
List honors every semester at Cal State Fullerton. Galarza
received the CSF Big West Sportsmanship Award in 2013 and is
currently a Titan SAAC Representative. The sophomore aspires
to play softball professionally and hopes to pursue investigative
journalism and missionary work.
