BECO Hooklift Trailers
BECO hooklift trailers are unique within the sector. At first glance, all the available systems look
the same. There are many ways of building hooklift trailers, but there is only one correct way.
BECO hooklift trailers have been primarily designed for the transport of heavy construction materials, and this is obvious when one considers the details. Thanks to a fruitful association with our
hooklift supplier, this BECO product has undergone constant development that has resulted in
multitude of models, capacities and configurations. The hooklift trailers are available in twin-axle
configuration with capacities of 14 to 25 tons, and in triple-axle configuration up to a capacity of 30
tons. As is the case with all BECO products, these hooklift trailers are characterised by their high
quality, excellent finishing, fully standard equipment and their ability to withstand the most severe
conditions when put to work by professional users.
Chassis: “the foundation”
One of the most eye-catching features of the BECO hooklift trailer is its chassis. This concept was
developed during the late-1990’s due to market demand for a compact (narrow and low), light and strong
chassis. The integrated chassis was developed as a result of this need. Over the following years, the
chassis was further developed to its current level. The key to this design is the use of high-tensile steel
combined with slim-profile chassis beams. This results in an optimum combination of strength and rigidity
in the chassis, while the design remains compact. Advantages of this compact chassis include the ability
to remain within width regulations when using the steering system, which produces a sharp steering angle
while retaining the vehicle’s narrow profile. In addition, the chassis has a very low roll centre. Otherwise,
the well-known noble characteristics of BECO tipping trailers remain in place. An example of such a
characteristic is the highly compact, in height adjustable rubber suspended drawbar (hydraulically
suspended as an optional extra) with a forged towing eye. Thanks to the design of the drawbar, great
ground clearance has been achieved and a sharp steering angle has been made possible. The landing leg
has been sunken into the drawbar and is operated by means of a double acting cylinder and an non-return
valve, so as to prevent unexpected operation.
TANDEM: “BECO Oscillating tandem”
By default, tandem axle BECO hooklift trailers are equipped with
the unique, light-towing oscillating tandem system, fitted with
BPW axles with major braking capacity. The BECO oscillating
tandem is provided with an well dimensioned main axle, a
bearing system and an off-centre pivot point. Because of the
off-centre pivot point, the front axle carries approximately 48% of
the load, while the rear axle carries 52%. These characteristics
provide optimum compensation between the axles and reduce
the necessary towing power. As a result, you will make better
headway on difficult terrain and you will save fuel.
Besides reducing the towing power required, the BECO
oscillating tandem also provides maximum stability when being
towed and – in particular – during tipping.
Braking: Braking: “safety first”
By default, BECO hooklift trailers are equipped with hydraulic
brakes on all wheels. Pneumatic braking, or a combination of
pneumatic and hydraulic braking, can be chosen as optional
extras, possibly in conjunction with an automatic loaddependant brake proportioning valve.
Tyres: “the right tyres reduce the necessary towing power”
Wide-ranging variables, including soil composition, load capacity
and required speed mean that extra focus must be placed on
making the correct tyre choice. BECO hooklift trailers can be
fitted with tyres from a range of brands with various sizes, profiles and diameters. Further information is available from your
BECO dealer.
Durability:
BECO hooklift trailers are known for their durability. Ensuring extended lifespan is a good reason for making wise economic investments. We would therefore like to highlight a few prominent features. Joins are
welded consecutively, eliminating the risk of moisture penetrating hollow spaces, thereby preventing rust.
Pivot points are ideally positioned and are provided with easy-to-reach lubrication points. This simplifies
the maintenance process and limits wear. LED lighting is used all-round, significantly increasing visibility
and safety. BECO also ensures the long-term preservation of its products by shot-blasting all components
and coating them with 2 layers of primer and a finishing layer.
Econoom 14000 and Econoom 17000 versions
The hooklift trailers in this series are characterised by their robust design. This is a totally new concept
in which much attention has been paid to simplicity and durability. Thanks to a unique lifting cylinder
design and well-planned geometrics, these 2 models can be full operated using the tractor’s hydraulic
functions. Furthermore, this system distinguishes itself thanks to the use of higher-grade components.
Because of its highly compact dimensions, this series of hooklift trailers is extremely manoeuvrable and
is therefore ideal for use in urban areas and on projects where there is limited space.

TRIDEM
By default, Beco hooklift trailers are equipped with triangle
suspension with hydraulic compensation and BPW axles.
This unique suspension system (developed by BECO) features hydraulic compensation and is characterised by a lack
of leaf springs. This gives the system a number of unique
characteristics. The most significant of these is its unrivalled
surface adaptation along with a very sharp turning angle.
Furthermore, this fully independent suspension optimally
distributes load pressure per wheel, regardless of how far
the wheel in question is required to oscillate. This greatly
reduces the required towing power. Another important advantage is the fact that torque, which the chassis is subjected to by suspension systems on traditional undercarriages,
is relieved. This reduces pressure on the pivot points of the
hooklift system, thereby limiting necessary maintenance
and lengthening lifespan.
Its stability is a further factor contributing to the success of
this chassis. Pressure-regulated stabilisation, combined
with an excellent roll centre-of-gravity, ensure highly stable
and smooth ride characteristics.
The suspension is maintenance low thanks to the use of
maintenance free rubber bearings. With the aid of optional
(semi-)automatic height control, the height of the chassis
or the levelling of the vehicle during tipping can be controlled from the cabin. In addition, it is possible to restore the
optimum ride height with a single press of a button.
Fully automatic height control is available as an optional
extra. On this system, the suspension is fully computerised, making automatic sidelong levelling possible, amongst
other functions. In addition to ideal ride height, an extra-low
position has also been programmed into this fully automatic
system. With this feature, the user can automatically drop
the chassis to a low position, while still allowing a certain
amount of axle compensation.
By default, triple-axle hooklift trailers are equipped with the
outstanding BECO hydraulic forced steering system that
manipulates the front and rear axles and minimises
resistance during manoeuvring. All the aforementioned
qualities ensure a wide range of utilisation options and an
enormous increase in capacity, meaning that this system
offers significant economic benefits.
Our tipping trailers and hooklift trailers can be equipped with auxiliary drive systems as an
optional extra, a feature that creates even more options for use. Please contact us for further
information about possible options.
Hydraulic forced steering
The BECO steering system is characterised by its simplicity,
reliability and a very sharp steering angle. On a twin-axle system, this steering is fitted to the rear axle of the tandem, while
it is fitted to the front and rear axles of a triple-axle system. This
steering system operates in forward and in reverse. Although
the principle behind hydraulic forced steering is relatively simple,
our system is distinct thanks to its details. The hydraulic steering
cylinders are safely mounted underneath the vehicle, minimising
the chances of damage. The BECO steering system has been
rendered safe by means of pressure release valves, which also
ensure safe and stable steering force at high speeds and when
carrying heavy loads. In addition, all cylinders forming part of the
steering system are equipped with depressurisation nipples,
making it easy to depressurise the system. There are two
methods of aligning the BECO steering system: namely through
the use of a hand pump and ball valves (default), or by means of
electrical control from the tractor cabin (optional).
Lift axle option
A lift axle can be chosen in combination with (semi-)automatic
height regulation. When the vehicle is empty, this allows the
front axle of the tipping trailer to be lifted so that it rides on only
two axles. If required by circumstances, this system also
allows weight to be lifted from the front axle, thereby placing
extra weight on the tractor.

Top bar cylinder option
On 25t and 30t systems, the top bar cylinder option is often
selected. This is a cylinder that transfers weight from the tractor
to the cargo lift trailer when pulling up a container (pulling force),
ensuring that the tractors wheels remain grounded. This system
can also be used for reverse transfer of weight to the tractor (pushing force). If required by circumstances, this allows the user
to place extra weight on the front axle of the tractor to provide
more traction. Whether or not this feature is combined with a
lifting axle, it still yields extremely comfortable ride
characteristics.
