Granfondo Garneau-Québecor presented by Cascades
A word from Louis Garneau
Dear Cyclist Friends,
As organizer of the Garneau-Quebecor Granfondo
presented by Cascades, I want to thank you with all my
heart for being with us on this great ride which will take
us from Trois-Rivières to St-Augustin and will let us,
again this year, help out the Little Brothers, who need it
greatly.
First, following the new legislation adopted by the
Quebec government to ensure cyclists’ safety on our
roads, let me remind you that we must be the ambassadors of our sport at all times by abiding by the Road
Safety Code. Thus, I hope you will respect the safety instructions given by the officials
present along the course.
I hope you will fully enjoy this day and that you !will go back home with great stories to tell.
I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to our Honorary President, Sébastien Delorme, a great
ambassador of cycling in Quebec who’s passionate about the sport. It will be my pleasure to
ride with him along the St. Lawrence River.
I would be remiss if I forgot to mention our generous sponsors, who again this year make this
wonderful adventure possible: Quebecor, Cascades, Lexus, Alex Coulombe Ltée, Archibald,
Vélomag, Kicking Horse Coffee, IGA des Sources, Transport St-Augustin, Gendron vélo,
Krispy Kernels and the Association des Chiropraticiens du Québec. Without them, the
Garneau-Quebecor Granfondo presented by Cascades would not be possible. We are very
grateful for your undying support!
Have a great ride and vive le vélo!
Louis Garneau

Supervision Guidelines
On the road, supervising cyclists will be present to help you throughout the course.
Do not hesitate to ask for help, whether for mechanical issues or to make it up a
tough hill!
Neutral service vehicles with mechanics will be available to provide assistance in
case of mechanical issues. We strongly suggest that participants have their own
replacement tubes in case of a flat to facilitate the work of mechanics and/or
supervisors who have to answer to the needs of different types of bikes.
We will also have a supervision service by police officers from the Sûreté du Québec
and the city of Québec, as well as several civilian motorcycles, in order to ensure the
safety of cyclists on the course. At all times, it is forbidden to cross the yellow line. If
applicable, follow the instructions given by police officers.
Finally, GTI MEDICAL will be present on the course, at the refreshment points and at
the finish line, to provide first aid services in case of a fall or faintness. Do not
hesitate to ask for help if needed. Chiropractic services will also be available for free
at the finish site.
Instructions from the Quebec Ministry of Transport: We are under obligation to
control the speed of pelotons averaging less than 30 km/h, as these will not be
supervised by the Sûreté du Québec. Here are the different speed groups offered for
the event. At the start line, simply take position in the speed group that best suits you:
Uncontrolled speed groups
supervised by the police :

by safety vehicles and supervisors:

I’ve ridden the 118 km of the Granfondo many times, and I will do it again with you this year!
Like me, many of you return each year. We are very touched by your commitment to breaking the
isolation of elders with your pedal strokes. For those who are participating for the first time, we
also thank you from the bottom of our hearts to have chosen this event that allows us to offer a
forever family to elders suffering from loneliness, no matter their condition.
Your participation in the Granfondo contributes to offering a presence to fulfill the absence in the
lives of the lonely elderly of Eastern Quebec. More than 95% of the Little Brothers’ funding comes
from the generosity of the public and your participation in this event is a part of that.
We wish to thank Mr. Garneau, great philanthropist and friend of the Little Brothers, for his
incalculable support, as well as sponsors such as Quebecor and Cascades. We are also grateful
for the help of all the volunteers, the commitment of the Garneau team and you, the riders!
I look forward to discussing the cause with you at the arrival in Saint-Augustin, after the big hill!

Since 1962, the Little Brothers have been present, thanks to its volunteers, in special moments of
isolated elders such as birthdays or Christmas, during holiday trips to the Paul-Garneau cottage at
Lake Saint-Joseph, in the most difficult times such as moving to a CHSLD or for loving care until
the end of their lives.
