S
ince 1981, Meyer Jabara Hotels of the Lehigh Valley has been committed to
providing fine lodging for its guests, as well as spacious meeting rooms for local
businesses and organizations – and an awesome work experience for staff members.
Hyatt Place Downtown Bethlehem, Holiday Inn Conference Center
Lehigh Valley, and Courtyard by Marriott Lehigh Valley are part of the super successful
Meyer Jabara Hotels empire founded more than 35 years ago by hospitality moguls
William Meyer and Richard Jabara.
Meyer Jabara Hotels boasts of having more than 4,300 rooms scattered across 10
states. Its hotels range in size from 38 rooms to 500 rooms
and are operated under licenses from top-name chains such as
Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Holiday Inn and Hyatt.
Meyer Jabara Hotels of the Lehigh Valley is proud of its
national heritage, but the management team is committed to
the local community, its causes and its future.
“We are a professional hotel company committed to
becoming the best places to stay and the best places to work in the Lehigh Valley,” said
Denise Maiatico, Vice President of Meyer Jabara Hotels of the Lehigh Valley. “A visit to a
Meyer Jabara Hotels hotel goes beyond an ordinary hotel stay. Each property features a
unique destination experience.”
Meyer Jabara Hotels of the Lehigh Valley also features great working conditions. It’s
not unusual for staff members to stay on for many years – or to return to the fold after
working elsewhere.
That’s what happened to Keith O Brien. He had worked for Meyer Jabara Hotels at
New York’s LaGuardia Airport before his first stint in Bethlehem. After helping
Maiatico open the Courtyard Bethlehem, Keith returned to LaGuardia briefly, but his
LEHIGH VALLEY BUSINESS heart and family remained in the Valley and he is now here as general manager at the
hotel he helped open.
John Ragona, director of engineering at the Courtyard by Marriott Bethlehem, loves
what he terms his “non-job.”
“There is no other company around that shares their vision and mission with their
team and is totally transparent from the top down,” he said. “A job is not a job when
you have the pleasure of working with such a dynamic team all focused on this great
culture. I truly love what I do.”
Eunice Yapul is the housekeeping manager at the Center
at Holiday Inn. Maiatico calls her “a beautiful lady with an
inspirational story of coming to the country, learning the
language, working hard, taking advantage of opportunities
and becoming a wonderful leader of our culture.
“To be part of Meyer Jabara Hotels of Lehigh Valley makes
me proud,” said Eunice. “To work for Meyer Jabara Hotels
means gratitude for all the opportunities I have been given throughout the years. It also
means to be able to learn, teach others and work as a team.”
Maiatico is like a proud mom when she speaks of her co-workers.
“Each of these stories is a beautiful example of our company culture in action,” she
said. “And each of these individuals has received the highest honor you can be awarded
at Meyer Jabara. They have each been recognized as a ‘Mirror of MJ’ — an award that is
reserved only for those associates who reflect the very best of our culture.
All Meyer Jabara properties deliver more than simply a place to gather.
“It is not just a meeting room, a ballroom or a board room… it’s a place where life’s
moments happen,” said Maiatico.
