Dear English:
Going to the Amish community is an adventure unlike
your normal shopping experience. It is an experience that
exposes you to a different culture and requires your
highest level of sensitivity.
Please respect the Amish community’s request for:
1. No photos of Amish
2. No Sunday sales
3. Tour Bus by permission only
New York State Sales Tax is collected on taxable goods
unless you have a tax number and your are able to
provide a Resale Certificate.
In addition, please understand that some operational
aspects of the Amish businesses carry inherent dangers
that require you to exercise caution. The Amish do not
accept responsibility for any accidents while you are on
their property.
It is important to realize that Amish shops, some of
which are located in their homes, have flexible business
hours. (Eastern Standard Time is followed all year round)
You will also find that inventory levels will flucuate
according to seasonal demands (i.e.: planting & harvesting) Therefore, please be understanding of the variables
while on your trip to the Amish Shops.
