About the Homebuilder’s Association of Greater Little Rock
The Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock (HBA-GLR) is a Central Arkansas based
trade association. As the “voice of the housing industry”, our association monitors legislative
issues on the local, county, state and national levels. Affiliated with the Arkansas Home Builders
Association (AHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), we provide an
atmosphere for networking and information sharing among members and promote affordable
home ownership in our communities.
The Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock is the voice of the housing industry.
Our goal is to support our members through education and to serve as an
advocate for industry professionalism.
Member Benefits
THREE-IN-ONE MEMBERSHIP – When you join the local HBA, you also join the State (AHBA)
and National (NAHB) at the same time! Each one has its own distinct members-only value like
a self-funded workers comp insurance program through AHBA and FREE legal advice and
up-to-date housing data through NAHB. Log onto www.nahb.org to personally tailor your

EDUCATION – From Building Codes and Lein Law Seminars to Marketing Your Business and
Round Table Discussions, the association continues to make member education a priority. Most
sessions convene quarterly and include a complimentary lunch – one way of saying thank you
for your time.
POLITICAL ACTION – Fearful that impact fees might be levied in your area? Want to change
a local building ordinance? Then use the collective voice of the association to strengthen your
position. In addition, the HBA has its own local Political Action Committee (HOME PAC) whose
mission is to support industry-friendly candidates.
NETWORKING AND SPECIAL EVENTS – There is no better way to meet your peers than
through the association. After all, can you think of another place that brings together builders,
developers, and associates in fun and creative ways? All of our events are no-pressure ways to
make new connections and increase your exposure. The only catch is that you (or your staff)
must be present to make this happen!

“From an early age I
always knew I wanted to
do something related to
construction. It wasn’t until
after I graduated college
and began working in
the residential industry
that I found a passion for
building and remodeling
houses. I really enjoy the
process that it takes to build a house; everything
from the design phase, to interaction with the clients,
to working with all the different subcontractors and
vendors and then finally seeing the completed
project. I love the team aspect that it takes to make
a concept into reality”
Nathan Cooper graduated from the University
of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Bachelors degree
in Construction Management and began working as
a Project Manager for Woodhaven Homes. After 6
years with Woodhaven, Cooper made the decision
to start his own company. In 2010, he founded
River Valley Builders Inc., a company specializing

in custom remodels, additions and new construction.
Cooper was an active HBA member during his
tenure with Woodhaven and knew the HBA would
play a large role with his new company. “I think
serving in a leadership role with an organization,
like the HBA, is important. I think it not only shows
that you are willing to be a member and pay
your dues, but that you genuinely care about the
organization as a whole and are willing to support
it with your time,” added Cooper.
As President, Cooper’s goal is to represent the
members of our association, while making sure they
get the most out of their membership. “I want our
members to have a place of fellowship where they
are optimistic about the future of their businesses; a
place where they are able to discuss concerns freely
and find solutions within our network. My goal is
to help members thrive and move forward in this
business, and I believe we have all the tools within
our association to make that possible. By acting as
the voice for our members, we are able to fight for
the opinions and ideals of our association,” said
Cooper.
