Held
every
summer
in Hilton Beach on St.
Joseph Island, the Old
Town Hall Concert Series
was initially held in the
small 1912 Town Hall.
The Series rapidly gained
in popularity and soon
after moved to the current
town hall, part of which
was an 1896 schoolhouse.
The town hall has a
seating capacity of 250,
which limits the size of our
audiences and makes for
a small, intimate venue.
The Old Town Hall Concert
Series has become known
over the years as a venue for the very best of Canadian
musical talent. The cream of the crop from Canadian
jazz and popular music scenes have entertained
thousands of thrilled concertgoers since 1996.
Past performers at the Old Town Hall Concert Series
have toured the world, played at the most prestigious
concert halls, won Junos and other awards, and have
continued to develop the distinguished image of
Canadian musicians internationally.
We wish for you to join us this season as our concerts
continue to fill the hall to capacity and our performances
keep getting bigger and better.
And please, keep in mind that our small venue limits
our ticket revenue, and as a result your donations are
very much needed and appreciated. Your support will
ensure that we can continue to bring Canada’s finest
musical talent to Hilton Beach every summer.

Quartette
Barbra Lica
Fathead
Wednesday, August 3rd at 8:00pm
Wednesday, August 10th at 8:00pm
Wednesday, August 17th at 8:00pm
It’s a Quartette unlike any other,
featuring four veteran female
singer/songwriters: Cindy Church,
Caitlin Hanford, Gwen Swick and
Sylvia Tyson. This Juno-nominated
and Canadian Country Music
Award-winning group have been
playing festivals and concerts
across Canada for over twenty
years, delighting audiences with
their lush harmonies and diverse
repertoire.
Quartette’s musical
styles range from blues and gospel
to folk, country, jazz and pop, and
that diversity is made even more
beautiful by their four distinct
voices
harmonizing
together
unlike anything you’ve ever heard
before. We are excited to welcome
Quartette to St. Joseph Island for
what will surely be a memorable
evening.
As one of Canada’s top upcoming
jazz artists, Barbra Lica describes
her style as somewhere between
singer/singwriter, vintage pop and
jazz. Lica smiles when she sings,
and you can hear that smile even
recorded, on her two albums. Her
bright, clear and happy vocals and
upbeat songwriting were inspired
by Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald and
Irving Berlin, and she lists fellow
free-spirited
singer/songwriters
Regina Spektor and Sara Bareilles
as her current favourite artists. CBC
Radio named her one of Canada’s
Top 5 Female Jazz Singers, and
Toronto’s Jazz 91 FM said she’s
“a dazzling performer who has
talent to burn and vocals that will
knock you over.” We are proud to
welcome Barbra Lica to the Island
for our 21st Season!
Several members of Fathead have
performed over the years at our
Series, but as part of other acts.
Finally we’re bringing this incredible
Juno-winning
blues
ensemble
to St. Joseph Island!
Fathead
came together in 1992 and have
been sharing their blend of blues,
folk, funk and soul on the North
American festival circuit ever since.
Made up of John Mays, Al Lerman,
Bob Tunnoch, Papa John King and
Bucky Berger, this well-respected
group of musicians create an
energetic blend of blues peppered
with r&b, funky, gospel-tinged soul
and feel-good rock & roll. Real
Blues magazine said Fathead has
it all: “talent, personality, humour,
united vision and a little bit of
hoodoo/voodoo”. We’re thrilled to
welcome Fathead in 2016!
