AUGUST 2015
Welcome to our August Newsletter!
Well the seasons are certainly changing! With last weekend almost like spring, that signals a new fishing
season starting with the Whitebait Season opening on the 15th of August. It used to line up with the August
school holidays which as a youngster we quite often spent a week at Mokau. Spinning and bait fishing for
Kahawai was absolutely great, and usually with the August Spring rain there was bait running and large
Kahawai tearing around harassing anything that hit the water.
I know there are quite a few locals that really enjoy whitebaiting and others that enjoy chasing the Kahawai,
so good luck to you all over the next couple of months.
THIS MONTH FOCUSES ON:
ON:
• Whitebait nets
• Waders

We are still in the midst of winter and I think we still have a bit of rain ahead of us. So here are a few
rainwear specials we have at the moment:
Stoney Creek StowStow-it Jacket
Light, fast drying and packs down into pocket, weighing less than 500 grams. A 3layer polyester, 100% waterproof, 100% windproof, 100% seam sealed and ultra
lightweight fabric. Moderate breathability. The tight woven construction and DWR
coating stops the fabric soaking up the water. $129.99
Stoney Creek Long Bush Coat

technical 3-layer fabric. Tightly brushed outer face will keep the noise down. Treated
with Teflon™ DWR. 10,000mm (ASTM) Hydrophilic membrane is highly breathable to
reduce heat build up, Ciba antimicrobial treated nylon tricot inhibits bacterial growth.
Sounds very technical, and it is! A good, hardwearing jacket that will withstand rugged
use. Our Store Special $199.99 Saving $130.00
A WEE TIP TO HELP YOU OUT WITH KEEPING YOUR RAINWEAR
RAINWEAR IN TIP TOP CONDITION:
To maintain top performance of your rainwear we recommend a regular warm washing at 40 degrees
(inside out) with a non-powdered laundry detergent (Sports Wash recommended) and occasional warm
tumble dry, right side out.
A warm wash assists in killing bacteria and the warm drying for 20 minutes revives the fabric and
rejuvenates the DWR and the Teflon coating ensuring going performance.
NB: Powdered detergents have UV brightness visible to animals. We recommend reapplying DWR every two
years. It is not recommended to store your garment damp, wet and scrunched.
SPORTSPORT-WASH 18 wash loads per bottle. Detergent will leave nothing in your clothing, no residue, no
enzymes, no odors and no UV brighteners to alert game. Restores wicking, breathability, water repellency
and insulation. $19.90
The Will
Doug Smith is on his deathbed and knows the end is near. His nurse, his wife, his daughter and 2 sons are
with him.
He asks for 2 witnesses to be present and a camcorder be in place to record his last wishes, and when all
is ready he begins to speak:
A. My son, Bernie, I want you to take the Mayfair houses.
B. My daughter Sybil, you take the apartments over in the East End.
C. My son, Jamie, I want you to take the offices over in the City Centre.
D. Sarah, my dear wife, please take all the residential buildings on the banks of the river."
The nurse and witnesses are blown away, never knowing the extent of his property holdings, and as Doug
slips away, the nurse says, "Mrs Smith, your husband must have been such a hard-working man to have
accumulated all this wealth".
Sarah replies, “Wealth? .... Wealth! The arsehole had a paper round!"
