“I’ve ridden that horse fifty
times and I never marked a 229,”
said trainer Skip Queen, who lent
Parker his celebrated gelding,
Sister CD, for the Senior Youth
competition.
“I’m still tr ying to catch
my breath,” said Parker, after a
combative cow brought out the
martial artist in Sister CD.
“When that cow kept pressing on us, I thought we were
going to lose it. But he’s such an
awesome horse, he just took care
of us.”

Parker showed Sister CD for the first
time in the go-round, where she scored
225 points.
“I remember the first time I worked
him, I didn’t expect him to move that
fast and with such big moves,” said
15-year-old Parker, who lives in Cleveland, GA and has been showing for four
years.
Sister CD, by CD Olena, is the earner
of over $720,000.
Hunter Hightower
Hunter Hightower, at 13, already had
a jump on tuition with three high finishes in previous Summer Spectacular
Scholarship Finals.
But yesterday, the straight-A student from Morgan Mill, TX, made a big
deposit in his account with a 219-point
win aboard TRS Travelin Badger, in the
Junior Youth.
“I was kind of born into it,” said
Hunter of his cutting background. His
father is trainer Faron Hightower, who
rode 15-year-old TRS Travelin Badger
in limited age events.
“My granddad, Olan Hightower,
taught my dad everything he knows
and has kind of coached on me,” said
Hunter.
“My dad usually gives me something to work on (after each run). I
don’t think perfection exists, so there’s
always something to improve on.”
