About FPUA:
In 1972, the citizens of Fort Pierce voted by referendum to create Fort Pierce Utilities Authority, (FPUA). By City Charter, FPUA is governed
by an independent board. The FPUA Board consists of five members, one whom is the Mayor and the remaining members are appointed by
the City Commission.
The City Commission is also responsible for approving FPUA's rates and budget. Through a designated formula, annually FPUA transfers revenue to the City's General Fund which the City uses for various services for the citizens of Fort Pierce. Since 1972, FPUA has transferred over
100 million dollars to the City's General Fund.

Deposit Information
All residential applicants for new service will require a credit check, or they may pay a full deposit. The credit agency determines if you are
required to pay a full deposit (average two month bill), minimum deposit or no deposit. Residential deposits are credited to an account after
two years of satisfactory payments. Interest is paid annually and credited to your account.
Meter Turn on Policy
Electric Service
Circuit breakers must be turned OFF in order for electric service to be turned on. If you have a gold seal on your meter make sure outside
and inside breakers are on. If you do not have an outside breaker you may have to call us to reschedule when someone eighteen (18) or older will be present.
Natural Gas Service
Someone must be at the residence that is eighteen (18) or older in order to have the natural gas turned on. Our gas department will turn off
all valves and complete a pressure test in order to verify there are no gas leaks. They will also check the operations of the equipment and
ensure all equipment is up to code. If all equipment passes inspection, they will turn on the meter and light all pilot lights. Should there be
an issue with the equipment or leaks, the gas department will inform the accountholder of the situation and the approximate cost for repair.
Also, if there are any flammable items near the equipment the accountholder will be instructed to relocate the flammable items.
Water Services
Water valves inside the house must be turned to the OFF position in order for the service to be turned on. If we try to turn the service on
and the meter begins to run because there is water running in the home we will turn the outside gate valve off and leave the water meter
on, You will need to turn the outside water valve on before the water will work. If the outside gate valve is locked or you do not have one
you will need to reschedule when someone eighteen (18) or older is present.
