MERLO PRESENTS THE NEW AND COMPLETELY UPGRADED
RANGE
The Merlo Group is attending EIMA 2014 (Hall 36, Stand C10) with innovations across the entire range that further
enhance the level of technological and performance content of its products.
The new agricultural range launches a very clear message on the market: safety, comfort and lower consumption - as
ever, the fundamental values of Merlo products - will be even closer to the heart of the offering by the Italian company
leading technology in lifting and logistics applications.
All models in the range have been redesigned to enhance performances involving key values such as safety, comfort
and lower consumption. Many technologies exclusive to Merlo have been introduced by the company in three spheres.

SAFETY
The Merlo Group has always considered safety one of its cardinal points in the development of its vehicles. Since the
1990s, The Merlo Group has offered systems ensuring front longitudinal safety that also involve blocking of aggravating
movements. Every year, the Group invests approx. 8% of its turnover in R&D in order to develop new patented and
exclusive features.
The share of the R&D budget dedicated to innovative safety devices has increased year after year, leading to the
introduction of increasingly sophisticated safety systems, which by now have become the industry benchmark.
Today, the most advanced technology in the safety field is represented by Merlo CDC (dynamic load control). this
device goes far beyond the requirements of the EN15000 standard by not merely ensuring front longitudinal stability
of the Merlo telehandler while handling loads, in static and dynamic situations alike, but by integrating this function with
attachment recognition and an indicator of the load being handled. Thanks to these innovative features, M CDC has
introduced a new safety concept for telehandlers, since it assesses the operational safety of the machine-attachment
complex in overall terms.

The operating principle is based on the fact that every telehandler works using various kinds of attachment, each of which
has specific and different features (weight, capacity, centre of gravity…) which may significantly affect the machine's load
chart and consequently its safety during use.
For this reason, the Merlo Group was the first to introduce the concept of "machine-attachment combination" and
included it into its patented M CDC safety system.
The M CDC system is equipped with an automatic attachment recognition system so that machine safety can always be
adapted to the tool effectively being used.

This information, together with data collected by various sensors monitoring stability, boom geometry and the weight of
the load being handled, makes it possible to provide the operator with a correct load chart.
This continual feedback not only communicates vehicle stability information but also provides additional data such as
weight. This function then integrates on the control panel screen displays of images from optional tele-cameras. To date,
the M CDC is the most advanced operational safety management system on our reference market.

The second pillar in Merlo developments is enhanced

occupational illnesses. This is why the Group has finalised
the largest cab in its category, which is now also available
with the brand new air conditioning system which helps
cut warm-up and cool-down times by half

Merlo also offers for its models (the only telehandler builder in the world to do so) the possibility of having a suspended
cab, using a patented system. In this way, Merlo Group telehandlers achieve a record-setting comfort level so that the
operator can work for several hours consecutively (image: suspended cab).
The Merlo offering dedicated to Comfort is completed by the BSS boom suspension system that reduces load losses
during transfers on bumpy ground and a broad selection of seats also equipped with air-operated suspension and
longitudinal stress absorption.

CONSUMPTION
Efficiency has never been as important as it is today and Merlo currently offer a completely upgraded agricultural range
that is environment-friendly thanks to Tier 3B - 4 Interim engines, while also launching a new management system for the
Merlo hydrostatic transmission named EPD (Eco Power Drive) capable of reducing consumption (and therefore also CO2
emissions) by 18%. The EPD system also integrates diesel engine rpm management into the hydrostatic transmission
management system. The acquisition of machine operating data makes it possible to calculate the power needed, at any
given time, to meet the operator's request for speed or torque (using the accelerator pedal).

Traditional technology
Engine rpm varies automatically in relation to the torque on the wheels and the transfer speed consequently increases.
Upon reaching the desired speed and without changing the torque on the wheels, the speed of the diesel engine
automatically sets to the minimum value sufficient to deliver the required power in that configuration.
The diesel engine rpm can be programmed exclusively through the dedicated setting potentiometer. The engine rpm
selected using the potentiometer is held regardless of ground conditions and driving speed. The purpose is to provide
any attachments fitted or towed with high hydraulic drive power (high rpm engine) with very slow forward movement (for
example, when driving over fields towing a muck spreader).
The basic advantages of the EPD system are joined in the Plus version by:
- The Speed​​-Control function acting in the same way as automotive Cruise-Control; the operator, having reached the
desired transfer speed, selects to maintain this speed by pressing the Speed​​-Control, fully releasing the accelerator.
Disengaging the speed control is immediate by pressing the brake pedal or the Speed-Control button.
- The ECO function that limits maximum diesel engine output to 1800 rpm. In this way, the maximum power is limited
and in all movements for which a lot of power is not required, consumption, noise emissions and pollutants are reduced
accordingly. The Eco mode is especially advantageous in depot handling operations.
EPD Top also adds another function, i.e. the self-accelerating Joystick. This device is unique in the telehandler world: it
integrates the electronic joystick and automatically increase diesel engine rpm in order to maximise boom movement
speed. Thanks to the EPD, even if the diesel engine rpm increases, forward speed does not change and it is possible to
increase productivity safely, efficiently and automatically.
These are the Merlo innovations displayed on the STAND
TF and MF Heavy Duty Modular Range
TF45.11 (on the Merlo stand), TF50.8, MF40.9 (on the Merlo stand) and
MF 40.7.
World preview for the brand new TF 45.11 exhibited on the stand in the
version with CS, CVTronic and 156 HP.
This is the flagship in the Turbofarmer range - a machine designed for truly
heavy duty applications.
It provides the very best of Merlo technologies for:
- Safety - MCDC as standard, rops and fops level 2 type-approved cab
- Comfort - Cab Suspension CS and the largest cab as standard in its category
- Reduced consumption - EPD Top as standard
This content is joined by incomparable versatility thanks to the rear mechanical power take-off, the possibility of being
type-approved as an agricultural tractor for towing up to 20 tonnes and the new CVTronic gearbox. The Turbofarmer
Heavy Duty family has 2 models TF45.11 and TF50.8 developed over 4
versions and capable of meeting the needs of even the most demanding
clients.
This range is also joined by the new MF Heavy Duty models. This is the
new generation of Merlo Telehandler Tractors, the top performing Multifarmer
version. Compared to Turbofarmer models, they offer even better versatility
thanks to the rear 3-point linkage which means they can even work with
towed attachments.

TF Medium Duty Modular Range
The Merlo Group is also exhibiting the new TF Medium Duty range on sale for only a couple of months. They are the new TF 38.7,
TF38.10 and TF42.7 models targeting the heart of the Market and, thanks to the new Modular approach, rank as landmarks for
safety, comfort and consumption. The entire range will be equipped as standard with CDC, the largest cab in the category, and EPD,
safety, comfort and efficiency are consequently ensured as standard for everyone.

The new 25.6 models have been completely reviewed in terms of performances thanks to the inclusion of an oversized
hydrostatic engine that ensures even further performance improvements. Speed improves to 40Km/h (best in category),
accelerations from 0 to 40 are smooth and fluid thanks to the continuous gearbox. The 25.6 is also equipped as
standard with the largest cab in its category, ensuring maximum comfort even with compact machines.
The 25.6 is also the only telehandler in its category to be type-approved as an agricultural tractor and can tow loads of
up to 9 tonnes.
