Project Features
The former O’Neil’s Department Store Building is a historical
landmark in Downtown Akron that sat partially vacant for several
years after May Company left. In 1996, May Company donated the
facility to the City of Akron, and decided to covert the massive
building into over 100,000 square feet of new office, retail, and
restaurant space. This project also involved the demolition of the
back half of the structure, originally used for limited parking, to
incorporate a new 675-car parking deck structure.
