© All measurements have been performed by MarinReportage, rigging of engines and propeller matching has been
performed by Yamaha Motor Scandinavia AB. We reserve us for variations in the documented speed and fuel consumption levels. Two boats of the same type can vary in weight which can affect speeds. Installed equipment, bottom
paint and seaweed can negatively affect speeds. Fuel consumption can also be affected by repeated accelerations
and decelerations. Our measurements were carried out with constant rpm measured during determined time periods.

How to read our test results

New Yamaha F200
lightweight outboard
•Yamaha Motor announce a lightweight F200 incorporating
many new and innovative features in this class. Yamaha has
created the new F200 outboard engine that offers the power of
a 200, but in a package that is closer in size and weight to our
F150A, giving an exceptional power-to-weight ratio. Weighing
227kg, approximately 50kg less than the previous F200, the latest
incarnation is 18 percent lighter. Employing an in-line fourcylinder configuration, with Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) and
weight-saving technology throughout, the new engine produces
200HP while being the lightest engine in its class. Two versions
will be available — the F200F, with a regular mechanical shift and
throttle, and the F200G, with an electronically-controlled,
drive-by-wire shift and throttle.
The F200F/G also benefit from recent technological advances
made by Yamaha, such as anti-theft system, a newly-designed
Reliance SDS as recommended propeller, a tilt-limiter, and LCD
colour display (optional for the F200G only), one-touch start/stop
(optional for the F200G only), and the ability to set variable
trolling-speed revs. These features place the F200F/G firmly
alongside Yamaha’s top-of-the-range V6 (4.2L) and V8 outboards.
Yamaha Joystick och Trim Assist
Yamaha Motor announce the launch of a new Joystick Control
System for their top-end outboard engines that will make
docking and slow-speed manoeuvring considerably easier for
the recreational boater. Developed in conjunction with Swedish
engine manufacturer Volvo-Penta, who pioneered joystick
controls for recreational boating with their IPS system for
inboard engines, the Joystick Control System operates in a similar
way for outboard engines. With the joystick function enabled, the
engine revs adjust to a preset level. Sensors detect the movement
of the joystick and the ECU adjusts the engine outputs and
steering direction independently of each other in order to move
the boat in any direction desired.
The Joystick Control System system will work with twoor three-engine installations of Yamaha’s highly-acclaimed
V6 (4.2L) 225 to 300hp and V8 350hp outboards.
Trim Assist is a system that automatically adjusts the
angle of trim of the engines according to engine revs, ensuring a
smooth and comfortable ride without the need to trim the engines manually, although it is possible to adjust the trim manually
if required. This means that the boat is always running at its
optimal trim settings for any speed.
