YOUTH
DEVELOPMENT
The values and skills learned
early on are vital building
blocks for life. Because of the Y,
more young people are making
smarter life choices. At the Y,
children and teens learn values
and positive behaviors and can
explore their unique talents and
interests, helping them realize
their potential.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Safe, nurturing environment for children to learn, grow and develop skills
With so many demands on today’s families,
parents need all the support they can get.
That’s why child care at the Y is about more
than looking after kids. It’s about nurturing
their development by providing a safe place
to learn foundational skills, develop healthy,
trusting relationships and build self-reliance
through the Y values of caring, honesty,
respect and responsibility.
BUILDING BLOCK
AGES 3 MONTHS – 12 YEARS
So you can exercise or just have some time for yourself at the Y,
Building Block engages your child through intentional development
with daily planned activities. Our friendly, caring team helps your
child play, learn, grow and make new friends.

develop and realize their potential
FREE* SPARKS PROGRAMS
ARTS, MUSIC AND MORE
*Free with Family membership. Registration is not
required for Sparks programs. Ask at the Welcome
Center for details.
Sparks programs help young people discover their
sparks — the intrinsic interests, talents, and passions that motivate them to learn, grow and contribute. Research shows that young people who know
and nurture their sparks are more fully engaged in
school and have other positive life outcomes. We
want to create many opportunities for young people
to discover their passions.
THE LIGHTHOUSE
Local musicians and artists, as well as professional staff and
volunteers, will host workshops and appreciation events where you
can draw, paint, sculpt, jam together, and show off your talent as
your spark becomes ignited. Check out the latest Arts and Music

THE GARAGE FREE
GRADES 3 – 8
The Y’s new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
programming is all about boosting creativity, imagination and problemsolving skills for youth. We believe that all kids have potential and that
nurturing that potential means fostering problem solving, planning,
analysis and decision-making skills. All these great things happen
here. The Garage is a place where imaginations soar and collaboration
brings new solutions. Through project based learning activities, kids
will experience hands-on minds-on learning of subjects ranging from
simple machines to 3-D printing. In the Garage, we believe free thinking
and new ideas should be encouraged, and that every “failure” moves us
closer to the answer. All drop-ins and workshops are led by students
and alumni of the renowned Clark High School robotics team. All STEM
activities are active, collaborative, meaningful, support mastery and
expand horizons. Monthly themed.

SWIM, SPORTS & PLAY
Positive, fun activities that build athletic, social and interpersonal skills
The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn
about becoming and staying active and developing
healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout
their lives. And the benefits are far greater than
just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the
confidence that comes from learning to swim or
building the positive relationships that lead to
good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in
activities at the Y is about building the whole child,
from the inside out.

COMMUNITY SERVICES
We know that when we work together, we move individuals, families
and communities forward. Since 1844, the Y has responded to
society’s most pressing needs by developing innovative, communitybased solutions and uniting people from all walks of life to
participate in and work for positive social change. Whether it’s a
community clean-up day or feeding the homeless, the Y is committed
to bringing people together to provide care for others and our
community.
TOGETHERHOOD
Togetherhood invites Y members and friends to lead and participate
in volunteer service projects that benefit the communities that we
serve. Ways to get involved:
Y Staff Advisor: Support the Service Committee and maintain the
integrity of the Togetherhood program.
Project Leader/Partner Liaison: Become a leader or co-leader of
one of several community service projects for the year.
Service Project Volunteer: Our service projects would not be
possible without project volunteers! Be a part of one or several
community service projects, participating on the day of the event.

FRUIT HARVEST
Unlike planting a garden, owning a fruit tree is often unintentional.
The YMCA of the Foothills Community Fruit Tree Harvest program has
a goal to help our local neighbors harvest fruit from their own yards in
order to share fresh produce with people who do not have access to it.
How you might ask? Simple! YMCA volunteers harvest local neighbors
fruit trees, and in return for the hard work, we ask that the neighbor
provide 50%-75% of what is harvested for the YMCA to donate
to people in need. Donations are distributed to local food banks,
meals programs, senior centers, low-income housing facilities, youth
and children’s programs, special residential facilities, school snack
programs, and shelters. Don’t let your fruit go to waste, call today to
schedule your harvest appointment!

PRAYER
We believe that prayer is both effective and important to our overall
health and well-being. In response to this belief, we have created
several prayer options for our members and staff.
“And whatever things you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Matthew 21:22
Prayer Wall – We have blackboards at both campuses to write any
prayer requests and leave notes of gratitude.
Prayer Boxes – These are located near the Prayer Walls for any
personal or confidential prayer requests or praise reports.
Prayer Stations – Our Chaplain Corps volunteers time each month for
our members and staff to receive personal prayer for any challenges or
to receive a general blessing.
Prayer Chain - In response to the prayer requests that are received
through the Prayer Wall, Prayer Boxes, and Prayer Stations, we have
assembled our team of Chaplains who regularly intercede for our
members and staff. These prayers remain strictly confidential.

AARP DRIVER SAFETY COURSE
Some drivers age 50-plus have never looked back since they got their
first driver’s license, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit
from brushing up on their driving skills. An additional benefit may be a
reduction in your insurance premium. By taking a driver safety course
you’ll learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques
and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly
challenging driving environment. You’ll learn how you can manage and
accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and
reaction time.
