overall price. Bringing an interior designer along during the
shopping process is one way
to assess the expense and
feasibility of home improvements before making the
purchase.
“If someone is deciding
between two homes, a
designer can let them know
if they can make the changes
they want to make within
the confines of the home,”
Brunstrum says. “People
aren’t always realistic about
what it costs to make those
changes.”
Designers can also help
evaluate in what order the
projects should be tackled,
which can impact the movein timeline. For example, “If
you really want to redo the
floors, do it before you move
in,” says Brunstrum. Plus, they
have established relationships
within the industry, which can
result in quick quotes for construction and architectural
services when relevant.
