Meet Brian Kreeger from
Katallasso Family Health Center

One day while sitting in church, Brian Kreeger, a local York Countian, felt that
there was something else God wanted him to do; some way to reach out and be
a blessing to others. Brian took to the street, South Queen Street to be exact,
handing out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, juice boxes and smiles. Over
time relationships were formed and Brian began to see other ways he could help,
including starting a youth center. Setting up a youth center was something he
could do! But God had other plans. God laid on Brian’s heart the need for a
health center. Setting up a health center was something only God could do! Today
Kreeger is the president of the Katallasso Family Health Center; 38 South Belvidere
Street,York, a non-profit organization which opened in January 2013. Medical
professionals volunteer their time, providers donate medical supplies
and the generosity of the community allows the Center to provide
health care access to those in need.

Katallasso Family Health Center (FHC), in a
collaborative partnership with YRM, assists in meeting
the healthcare needs of the men and women who
reside in our shelters. The Health Center exists to provide
faith-based healthcare to those who are uninsured, those who
are under insured, and those living in poverty. They work to be a
living example of Jesus Christ, interacting with people in a way that
meets them where they are in the midst of any circumstance.
James is just one of the many individuals in one of our shelters
who was blessed by the Health Center. When James was released
from the state correctional institute, he only had a few days’
worth of the life sustaining medicine he desperately needed. With
no insurance or income available, James was unable to quickly
obtain his medicine. As part of our partnership, James was able
to see a doctor at the Health Center and get the medicine he
needed.
Today YRM is in the planning process of implementing health
care services for our residents. Brian Kreeger, President of FHC,
and Matt are finalizing plans to obtain the necessary funding and
support for this initiative.
The mission of Katallasso Family Health
Center (FHC) is to emulate the love of
Jesus Christ by promoting wellness and
providing quality healthcare for both the
body and soul. In cooperation with the
Church and others, FHC strives to reach
beyond the health of the body for citizens
of York City and surrounding communities.
The Health Center’s goal includes providing
high quality healthcare access to those who
are uninsured or under insured and those
most vulnerable amongst us and promoting
wellness through education about nutrition,
exercise and weight management, and general hygiene. Healthcare services are
provided to those in need by board certified medical professionals at no cost to
the patient.
The Katallasso Family Health Center was built by God, using men and women to
take care of the needs of the most vulnerable as we are commanded. As Brian will
tell you, “the Katallasso Health Center is only here because of God and
we give God all the Glory!”

While supplying our 15 buildings, we have great
need for commercial size toilet paper! Our
monthly cost to supply this paper is $300 or
$3,600 a year.
As the year 2015 draws to a close, we are in
full swing making preparations for the change
of seasons and the holidays. Our Thanksgiving
Box Project and Christmas Program are fast
approaching.

As we come into the Thanksgiving and
Christmas seasons, our needs will also
increase for food, shelter, and clothing. Men,
women and children continue to pass through our doors no matter what
the season. Some of them do not know where their next hot meal is
coming from; others haven’t a safe place to sleep. Difficult choices need to
be made… pay the rent or buy food.

God is changing lives as well! Through the programs we offer at the
Mission, lives are being transformed. We are able to witness season
changes in the lives of people constantly. I thank God for letting us be a
part of what He is doing and seeing His hand at work.
Every day we join forces with organizations, churches, businesses and
individuals within our community. Together we reach out and help
those in need at the Mission and throughout York County. It is such an
encouragement to hear from others who see how these partnerships are
making a difference.

charitable assistance, especially through these financially difficult times.

I wanted to write and thank you and your leadership, James &
Dwight, for allowing our congregations to serve alongside your
teams at the Rescue Mission and Store this past weekend. The
ministry you all are conducting and the ways you are working to
integrate the Mission into the life of community is powerful and
was a great teaching for our participants. Obviously a number
of wonderful stories came from the men we encountered at
the Mission that helped frame or re-frame some misperceptions
about poverty and how people are affected by it.
You indeed are helping to bless lives in our community. Thank you for your
faithful friendship.

Food Drive Events
Giving can be fun! YRM will have two
trucks at the Santander Stadium’s Brook
Robinson Plaza on Saturday, November
21st from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Bring
your non-perishable and perishable food donations to help us “STUFF
THE TRUCKS”. WARM 103.3 will
be joining us for a day of fun and

activities; face painting and games and

Upcoming Events
November and December are busy months at the
York Rescue Mission (YRM). Below are just a few of the many ways
the Mission and the community come together to help those in need.
Annual Food Drive
$2.49 provides a meal and HOPE for a man, woman or child. We will be
joining our friends at Water Street Mission and Bethesda Mission for our
annual Rescue Mission Food Drive (RMFD). Our goal is to
collect a combined total of 225,000 pounds of food.
RMFD takes place November 1st through December
20th. All donated items collected in York County stays
in York County. Drop off your donations at YRM’s Food
Barn, any M&T Bank, any Turkey Hill Minit Mart or the York
Newspaper Company. Go to www.rescuemissionfooddrive.
org for more information.
Thanksgiving Service and Dinner
YRM will host a Thanksgiving service and dinner for the community
on Thursday, November 26th in our dining hall at the Men’s Shelter.
The service starts at 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a traditional
Thanksgiving meal.
Your food and financial donations are greatly appreciated. With your
donations, we served more than 185,000 meals in 2014.

Outreach

Christmas truly is about.
We believe that each child

Christmas Service and Dinner
You are invited to our Christmas service and dinner for the community
on Thursday, December 24th in our dining hall at the Men’s Shelter. The
service starts at 3:00 p.m. followed by a dinner.
Thanksgiving Boxes
We prepare 1,700 Thanksgiving boxes that are distributed throughout our
community. Most of the food is donated through the annual RMFD. It
is inspiring to see everyone pulling together as a community to provide
individuals and families a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
