What is Bluetens?
Bluetens is a medical tool that features electrostimulation technology. It gives
you access to a range of customized treatments, created by healthcare professionals with the aim of improving your daily life.
Once you let Bluetens take control, you can choose to give your muscles a work
out to help your recovery from injury, to build strength or muscle tone during or
following exercise, to relieve pain, or simply for deep relaxation at any time.
Safety considerations
Contraindications
If you have a pacemaker fitted, or if you suffer from epilepsy, you are prohibited
from using Bluetens. Pregnant women, and people suffering from a hernia or
related symptoms are STRONGLY advised against using Bluetens.
People with cardiac conditions must avoid areas of the body near to the heart.
Do not use Bluetens if you have:
• Metallic implants, prostheses or artificial limbs in your body.
• An irregular heartbeat or any cardiac condition.
• Diabetes or reduced sensitivity.
• Circulatory problems in the lower limbs.
Important!
Do not use Bluetens in water or in a humid atmosphere such as a sauna, hydrotherapeutic treatment area, Turkish bath, etc.
Electrodes must never be placed in the carotid sinus area (at the front of the
throat), nor in the cerebral region (across the head) or the thoracic area (across
the chest). To avoid making mistakes, please ensure that you follow the instructions for positioning electrodes, they have been defined by healthcare professionals and related to the areas of the body where the Bluetens has the greatest
effect.
Safety measures
• Do not use Bluetens within a radius of one metre from short-wave or micro-wave
medical devices, as these may modify the current that the device generates.
• Only use the electrode cable provided by Bluetens.
• During the session, do not disconnect the electrode cable while your Bluetens
is switched on and under load. The device must be switched off beforehand.
• Never detach the electrodes unless your Bluetens has stopped completely.
• Never connect the electrode cable to an external power source, as this may
cause electrocution.
• Never use a damaged or defective electrode cable.
• Always use the USB cable provided by Bluetens to charge the device.
• Never use Bluetens or cable USB if it is damaged.
• Keep your Bluetens and its accessories out of the reach of children.
• Never let any foreign body (such as soil, water, metal, etc.) enter the body of
your Bluetens
• Do not use Bluetens while driving.
• Never charge your Bluetens while using it, the slider prevents the device from
being charged and used simultaneously. You must never remove it for any reason as this is a valuable safety feature.
• If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to seek medical advice.

Use of your Bluetens requires a smartphone that is compatible with Bluetooth 4.0.

Your Bluetens
Benefits of the Bluetens
Effectiveness: Bluetens is a medical device that has been created for you
by professionals in the fields of sports and health.
Size and weight: (6 cm × 4 cm and 25 g) – in comparison, a credit card measures more than 8.5 cm × 5 cm.
Battery life:
a one-hour charge provides four to five hours of treatment.
Technology: uses Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE), the latest low-power, wireless
communications technology
Simplicity: there is only one button and a single dial to control the
intensity – everything is managed from your Smartphone
using the app.

1. Your Bluetens is the main unit that will drive the change
in your overall well-being.

2. This cable is connected to your Bluetens at one end,
and to the electrodes at the other, using a “snap lock”
system. The connectors clip to the electrodes.

One end must be plugged in to the USB port of a
mains charger or a computer, and the other into your
Bluetens’s micro USB port at all times when charging.

4. A simplified user guide is provided in the box, enabling
you to find your way around your Bluetens quickly.

5. A waterproof bag is provided with your Bluetens. This
bag enables you to transport your Bluetens, along with
the cables and electrodes, in complete security and
protects from splashes of liquid.

6. Three sets of four electrodes are included in the
packaging with your Bluetens. These electrodes must be
connected to the electrode cable and placed on the skin.

2. Intensity control:

This button is used to switch
the Bluetens on or off.

3. Programme intensity lights:
The first light illuminates when
a programme is launched from
the app. When the Bluetens
is used in standalone mode
(without a smartphone) the
first light illuminates when the
default programme starts. A
blue light illuminates for each
fifteen intensity levels, so you
will see the following:
• 1 light for levels 0 to 15
• 2 lights for levels 16 to 30
• 3 lights for levels 31 to 45
• 4 lights for levels 46 to 60
This scroll wheel enables
you to increase or reduce
the intensity of the programme. Increase intensity
by turning to the left, reduce it
by turning to the right.
Intensity increases in gradients
from 1 to a maximum of 60.
By turning to the right, you
will reduce the intensity until
it reaches the minimum level,
which is 1.
4. Charge light:
5. Power light: simply
pressing on the On/Off
button makes the light turn
green. Pressing it again
turns the light off.
When your Bluetens has
less than 20% battery
charge remaining, its
charge indicator starts to
flash. When you charge it,
the charge indicator stops
flashing and remains solid
until the battery is fully
charged, after which the
light switches itself off.

mechanism to prevent the
Bluetens from being used
while it is charging. You can
slide it between charging
mode and usage mode.

Downloading
Ensure that you have sufficient battery life remaining on your phone to download the app, and begin downloading in the usual way, depending on your choice
of phone:
On iOS, the app can be found in the
App Store under the name of Bluetens.

Tip: The Bluetens app is frequently updated with new programmes and new features, so make sure you update your copy regularly.
Usage
Activating Bluetooth
Make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your phone. The latest phone models
activate Bluetooth automatically as soon as a device attempts to connect to
your phone: the technical term is Bluetooth pairing. Sometimes, however, you
need to activate Bluetooth manually, which you can do by following the instructions below:
On iOS
Go to Settings / Bluetooth.
On Android
Go to Settings / Bluetooth.
First use
Launch the Bluetens app.
View the tutorial.
The first time you use the app, you will be offered a tutorial. This tutorial succinctly covers the different steps in using your Bluetens, and the different functions
it offers, to ensure that you can enjoy our Bluetens safely.
During the following sessions, you will be taken directly to the main menu.
Selecting a programme
Select your programme.
The first step consists of defining the area of the body and the effect that you
are seeking. The following areas are available:
• Upper arm
• Upper back
• Thighs
• Elbow
• Back
• Knee
• Forearm
• Lower back
• Calf
• Wrist
• Abdomen
• Ankle
• Shoulders
• Buttocks
• Foot
Turn the wheel until the desired part of the body is selected, then do the same
to choose the desired effect.
Care: for physical therapy with a view to enhancing ongoing rehabilitation or for
fast, effective pain relief.
Relaxation: for a relaxing massage to ease muscular tension.
Fitness: stimulates the muscles, causing growth in muscle tissues.
Then tap “GO!”

Click on the programme to view a description:

Tip: The programmes under the “Bluetens Team” header were created by our
medical team of state-certified french massage therapists and physiotherapists,
all of whom practise in clinics and surgeries.

Positioning the electrodes
Positioning the electrodes
1. Position the electrodes as shown in the illustration.
2. Ensure that all four electrodes are placed on your skin,
your Bluetens will only operate if all four electrodes are connected.
Switching on your Bluetens
1. Switch on your Bluetens by pressing on the “ON” button when requested to
do so by the app.
2. The Bluetens will connect automatically with your smartphone and the programme will launch within a few seconds.
Warning: Ensure that your Bluetens is switched off when positioning the electrodes, and don’t switch the Bluetens on until requested to do so by the app.
While the programme is running
1. Adjust the intensity using the app or with the Bluetens control wheel.
Tip: The most important consideration for setting the intensity of the Bluetens
is your comfort. Your session should never be painful in any circumstances, but
you should feel the effects. Adjust the intensity until you find an effect that is
both comfortable and effective for you.
Stopping the programme during operation
1. Click on the “Stop” button to change or stop the programme, after which you
will be taken to the main menu.
End of the programme
1. A message will alert you to the end of the programme.
2. Switch of the Bluetens before removing the electrodes.
3. Place the electrodes back on the correct side of the plastic film, and replace
them inside the sealed bag.
Features
Battery icon: this icon shows the level of charge remaining in the battery.
Back icon: pressing on this button returns you to the previous page
under iOS.

Warranty
Bluetens comes with a two-year warranty. The warranty does not cover damage
caused by poor maintenance, use other than in accordance with the documentation, an accident (being dropped, fires, liquid damage, etc.), modifications, repairs, misuse, or normal wear and tear. Only defects in material or manufacture
are covered. This warranty only applies to products purchased directly from
Bluetens or from an authorised retailer.
Warranty period
Your product has a two-year warranty, calculated by reference to the date of
purchase. The battery has a six-month warranty.
What the warranty does not cover
Cables and accessories supplied in the Bluetens box do not come with the benefit of the warranty.
Bluetens at your service
If a defect occurs that is covered by the warrant, Bluetens will send you a return
voucher and will repair or replace your device, as well as covering return postage.
