What is student party sam?
Student Party SAM represents all students of Tilburg University within the

Dutch students as well as for international students, for those who live at
home or on their own: Student Party SAM raises its voice for you. We’re
not only doing this on campus, but also outside: we’re preoccupied with
what happens on local and national level as well. Student Party SAM tries
to make your time as a student as convenient as possible!

preface
In this preface the main issues for Student Party SAM for 20162017 are named.
Dear fellow student,
This is the election program of Student Party SAM for the academic year 2016 - 2017. In this
election program Student Party SAM shows the points where the future party will work for.
The election points are focused on the following three pillars; Education, Student facilities and
Broadening and deepening of your student time.
Student Party SAM has been working for 21 years in the interests of students of Tilburg. The
power of Student Party SAM is that we are committed to all students at the Tilburg University.
For both the Dutch and international students, whether you are living at home or on your
own: Student Party SAM is committed to you. We are not only committed to you on campus
but also at local and national level: as Student Party SAM we are concerned with everything
what is happening in terms of education. We as Student Party SAM will try your to make your
student time as pleasant as possible!
We believe that academic education should be of high quality and that students should be
able to use the best possible facilities. We think it is important that students should have more
freedom to set their own curriculum. In our opinion, academic education at the Tilburg University is not yet flexible enough to meet this requirement. We would like a university where
students can go on exchange, take an internship or could participate in electives courses by
applying a flexible curriculum within the flexible semester. Flexible education also means that
students can decide for themselves when they will follow their education. Therefore, we believe that large-scale lectures need to be recorded and offered digitally. However, we do not
believe that education should take place entirely online. We see the university as a physical
location where students and academics see each other in small, interactive groups. The campus of Tilburg University is visibly growing, but Student Party SAM still wants students to feel
at home. Good catering, printing facilities, sufficient recess areas, good coffee and a nice
atmosphere are the most important aspects to comply with that. The growth of Tilburg University has increased the shortage of study places visible. Student Party SAM is closely involved in the construction of a new Educational and Tutorial Centre. But also in the short run
we are looking for a solution for more study places.
preface 3
Unfortunately, studying is not cheap. Student Party SAM strongly believes that students should
not pay for something they do not use. Therefore, we believe that students should be given
the opportunity to pay per course instead of the full tuition. Furthermore we want students
doing a second master, to pay an institutional fee as high as the statitory one, instead of the
additional costs they face now. Besides academic and quality education it is important that the
university prepares students for the job market. This is done not only by studying for exams but
also the training of soft skills. Student Party SAM wants to introduce a voucher system - similar
to language vouchers - for soft skills training. By actively deploying alumni and companies in
the educational system and the possibility of taking an internship, Student Party SAM calls for a
better connection to the job market.
These are the main points listed by Student Party SAM on the agenda of next year, along with
the points made in the program beyond. The future board will start full of fresh energy to
represent the interests of each student at the Tilburg University. For this reason Student Party
SAM will translate their words into deeds, because that is where Student Party SAM stands for
“Turning ideas into action!”
On behalf of Student Party SAM,

achieved matters
Student Party SAM also worked hard for the interests of
students during the last few months.
A short update of our achieved matters.
Extra study places during exam periods
Canteen at the sports centre
Recently, Tilburg University is coping with capacity problems during exam periods. Since
the university is not able to offer a short term
solution to these problems, Student Party SAM
took the initiative to create extra study places.
Furthermore, Student Party SAM is working to
create extra and efficient study places on the
campus of Tilburg University. The discussions
with Real Estate Management are positive and
we hope to inform you in the short term about
new achievements for the students.
Student Party SAM has ensured that the
Executive Board will come forward with a proposal for a canteen at the outdoor sport fields.
Student Party SAM has committed itself to this
goal for many years. First, the Executive Board
proposed a small canteen, but SAM and the
sport associations of Tilburg University could
not agree with this. The Executive Board has
assured to write a proposal for a big sport canteen.
“ The Executive Board has assured to write a proposal for
a big sports canteen! ”

Extended opening hours of the Montesquieu Learning
Centre
Many students like to study in the Montesquieu Learning Centre. Upon initiative of Student Party SAM, the opening hours of the MLC
are extended. Nowadays, students can study
until 22:00, instead of 18:00. In this way, we facilitate that students can study wherever they
want.
€1.019,80 collected during the Night of Professors!
Last year Student Party SAM organised ‘Night
of the professors’ for the third time. In organising this night, Student Party SAM wants to
strengthen the connction between the students, professors and the University. At the
10th of November the 3rd edition of this event
took place. Several professors performed as
DJ to raise money for charity: Villa Pardoes!
During this night we raised around €1000, so
that children with a life-threatening disease
can have the time of their lives in the Efteling.
More power for student councils
Office supplies available in the library
In cooperation with Facility Services, Student
Party SAM arranged a machine filled with
phone chargers and office supplies in the
Library. With the departure of the Studystore
and Prismaprint, a lot of students complained
about the lack of options to purchase office
supplies on campus.
So, did your pen run out of ink? Or did your
phone-battery die? For only €0,50 you will be
able to write for weeks and for only €3,00 you
will be able to charge your phone!
6 achieved matters
Because of the abolition of the basic
scholarship, Minister of Education Jet
Bussemaker has given university councils
right of consent on the main points of
the university’s budget. The content of
these main points differently per university. Student Party SAM initiated that all
strategic resources also follow under this
right of consent, as well as the resources
that came available from the feudal system. Furthermore, Student Party SAM
achieved that faculty councils got the
same right of consent on the
faculty budget, though the executive
board argued against it firstly.
Collaboration with the web managers of
TiU
With the start of academic year
2015-2016, Student Party SAM
started a collaboration with the
managers of the website of Tilburg
University. Because Student Party
SAM holds the digitalization of Tilburg University in high regard, we
strive that the TiU website is up to
date and that it meets the needs of
students. First improvements will be
visible in January! Throughout the
year, more adjusments will be made!
Zwijsen Building opened in the weekends
Zwijsen Building is a place for praying or getting relaxed among many students. Many
questions arose at the Academic Forum
about why the Zwijsen Building is not opened
during weekends. Because Student Party
SAM represents all students and believes
Zwijsen Building contributes to a better study
environment, we asked the Executive Board
to open Zwijsen Building during weekends.
Our efforts led tot he decision of the
Executive Board to open the building during
weekends between 09:00 and 17:00. There
will be an evaluation point around April 1
2016.
“ Because Student
Party SAM represents
all students and believes Zwijsen Building
contributes to a better
study environment,
we asked to open the
building during weekends.”
Extended opening hours Mensa
Two years ago, Student Party SAM researched the Mensa thoroughly on its
properties and circumstances. The result of
the investigation made clear that students
would like to see the opening hours of the
Mensa expanded. Through an co-initiative
of Student Party SAM, pilots are been held,
starting in 2014, to investigate if expanding
the opening hours of the Mensa is a
success. The pilots will be evaluated in
depth.

quality of education
1. digitalization of education
Many developments in the educational system are established by further digitalization. Student Party SAM operates in the development of video lectures and knowledge clips. Through a Digital Platform SAM wants to make more lectures digitally
available to students. We believe that students can watch a large-scale lecture
perfectly at home at a time that suits the student. In this way we contribute to the
flexibility of an academic education. For this reason, students can follow lectures
accordingly besides taking an internship or during their exchange. Nevertheless,
Student Party SAM still appreciates the physical university.
Small working groups with lots of interaction must
become the main focus and can thereby be
supported by the pure knowledge transfer in the
(digital) lectures. Student Party SAM is a huge
supporter of blended learning, by which the
university remains a meeting place for teachers
and students.
In addition, Student Party SAM is actively involved
in multiple digitalization projects at Tilburg
University and we participate in several working
groups and committees in this area. We are
collaborating on writing a digitalization policy, we
are dealing with the possibility of digital examining and we are investigating the concept of “smart
campus”. We are also focusing on digital feedback,
as a continuation of our initiative on the digital
submission of assignments and theses. If teachers
check the assignments digital, feedback can easily
be added and sent to the student and he can receive this simple in his mailbox and possibly use it
for writing a modified version.
election programme 13
1.1 Video lectures
By offering more online lectures the student will
be more flexible and this way Tilburg University will
encourage students to participate in extracurricular
activities. It will be easier for the student to combine
his study with additional activities. The student will
also be able to repeat a difficult or major subject or
to view the lectures from abroad or at home. When
a teacher does not prefer to be filmed during his lectures, just a voice recording in combination with the
slides will be a proper alternative.
1.2 online q&a sessions
Tilburg University is currently using Question & Ask sessions during a final lecture.
Student Party SAM believes that this may not always be sufficient and would therefore
come up with the proposal that each course will offer a live online Question & Ask session. Through a forum where students can ask questions online and teachers can easily
answer them, this makes interaction between the teacher and student easier.
1.3 example questions for each course
Student Party SAM believes that there should be for each course sample questions
available on Blackboard. This way the student will get a better idea of what to expect
during the exam. The student can practice with the way questions are asked and will
not be confronted during the exam.
1.4 Supporting teachers
Tilburg University has many opportunities in the field of digitization. Unfortunately it is
often the case that teachers do not know where to find or how to use these resources.
Therefore, Student Party SAM considers it important that teachers receive sufficient
support for using these resources. In addition, the possibilities for digitization should
be communicated properly to all teachers.
14 election programme
2. Interactive and flexible education
“ By offering online
lectures the student
will be more flexible
and this way Tilburg
University will encourage students to
participate in extracurricular activities.”
Through interactive tutorials students have the
opportunity to development themselves more
effectively. Though many tutorials resemble
small lectures nowadays, Student Party SAM
thinks that work groups should be central and
these tutorials should not only consist of basic
transfer of knowledge. We believe that students should be challenged more by teachers
and each other and that discussion and asking
questions should be stimulated. Furthermore,
Student Party SAM believes students should be
kept in charge of composing their lecture
schedule. With more interaction and flexibility
the intrinsic motivation of students will grow
and their education will be more tailor-made.
3. Extra investments in education
With the introduction of the feudal system there will be additional money available
to invest in education. However, the university can easily include these funds in the
regular cash flow. Student Party SAM believes that the money that has been ceded
from all students should be actually invested in development of students. We believe
that this money should go to small scale workgroups, more personal approach, digitalization and the quality of teachers. Proper use of these new resources can improve
the quality of education significantly.
4. Grades known before February 1
When first year students unsubscribe themselves before February 1, they are still
able to enroll for another study starting next college year. Also, their OV chip card
and eventual scholarship are not refunded by the government. The February 1 rule
is also important for bachelor students who want to begin their master program.
Student Party SAM wants to make sure that grades are known before the deadline
of February 1, so students have a clear overview of their grades while making their
decision concerning the hard cut on February 1.
election programme 15
5. Last course regulation
Because of strict regulations there are several students who have to do an extra
academic year when they still have to pass their last course. Many courses can
only be taken in one semester only, which results in a whole year study delay.
Within various faculties a last course regulation is in play, but this regulation is not
centralized within all faculties. Student Party SAM believes that all faculties should
have the same regulation where the last course of a study program consists of
an extra resit, after the two exam opportunities in the academic year were not
sufficient.
6. Longer period between grades and resit exam
Student Party SAM noticed that students often have little time to study for a resit,
since their grades of the regular exam is announced late. Because of this, Student
Party SAM wants to investigate if it is possible to lengthen the time between the
exam result and the resit to 10 work days. With this solution, students have more
time to prepare themselves for an eventual resit.
7. Processing student opinions
Every year, the opinion of students is gauged in different ways. Course evaluations
filled in by student and processed by education committees and the National Student Survey (NSE) are examples of this gauging. Student Party SAM believes that
the outcome of the NSE should be discussed in the University Council, putting
more weight on student’s opinions. Furthermore, Student Party SAM believes that
solutions or actions arising from the discussion of the NSE should be made public.
8. teacher appreciation
The quality of education depends on the quality of teachers. Student Party SAM
supports innovative and passionate teachers, who are developed partly through
good support programs at the beginning of their academic career. We believe that
starting teachers should pass a basic qualification test, which ensures progress in
the teachers level.
Furthermore, Student Party SAM believes that there should be enough support
and appreciation for academic teachers. At the moment, academic staff at the
university are in higher regard when they perform good research than when they
are a good teacher. Therefore, we support Minister of Education Jet Bussemaker
in her ambition to reduce the difference in appreciation between research and
education.
16 election programme
Also, Student Party SAM will organize the first Teacher of the Year-Election at Tilburg University. Excellent teachers should be highlighted! The winner of the
election will be nominated for the nationwide Teacher of the Year-Elections,
organized by the Interstedelijk Studenten Overleg (ISO), a centralized student
council.
9. Communication with teachers
Because of developments in digitalization, Student Party SAM wants to ensure
that communication between students and teachers is sound. It is important that
there is more interaction between students and teachers. We believe that Tilburg
University should not strive for a one way transfer of knowledge from teachers.
Among other things, Student Party SAM thinks Question and Ask sessions will
stimulate and ease communication and interaction.
10. English qualification for teachers
Tilburg University is an international University where many classes are given in
English. Student Party SAM believes that teachers should have good command
of the English language, especially when lectures or tutorials are given in English.
This is not the case in several occasions, which is made clear in the course
evaluations, and the university needs to intervene in these occasions.
11. Shorter revision deadlines for grades
Student Party SAM believes exam results should be announced sooner. At the
moment there is a deadline period of 15 work days. Considering the holidays, this
can take longer than 3 weeks. Student Party SAM strives to shorten this period, so
students know their grades sooner.
12. Monitoring implementation Tilburgs
Education Profile
In March 2015 a new Tilburg Education Profile
has been established with conditions in which Tilburg University must comply. Student Party SAM
is happy with this course of action, because small
and personal education with main focus on the
student is made central. Currently a plan to implement the profile is in progress. Student Party SAM
will actively monitor this progress in collaboration
with the faculty councils.
election programme 17
student facilities
1. study places
A lot of students have been complaining about a lack of study places. Student Party
SAM also recognizes this problem and is very happy that there will be a completely
new study-centre in the end of 2017: the so-called ‘Education and Study centre’. This
new centre will contain extra study places for students. However, student Party SAM
does not want to wait for the end of 2017 to create new study places and is currently
investigating the possibilities to create more places at shorter notice. Next year we
will investigate different opportunities, in buildings other than the Library, to create
more study places for you.
1.1 Extension opening hours Montesquieu Learning Centre
On the initiative of Student Party SAM, a pilot has been started to extend the opening
hours of the Montsequieu building from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Student Party SAM
is receiving a lot of positive comments about the pilot and therefore wants to make
this change definite.
1.2 library
Currently the possibilities to create more study places in the Library are being
examined. Student Party SAM is actively involved in these investigations and wants
to make sure that students are not being restricted in their possibilities to study.
Therefore, Student Party SAM does not only focus on creating more study places but
also focusses on making the Library merely available for students studying at Tilburg
University.
1.3 more work spaces spread across campus
Next to our ambition to create more study places in the Library, Student Party SAM
also sees possibilities to create more study places on other places at campus. We
believe that the whole campus should be used efficiently to facilitate students as well
as possible.
18 election programme
1.4 Clarity about availability of study places
Students are often confronted with
the fact that they are not able to find
a place to study. Even worse is when
they find out the computer, which
they have found with the needed
effort, is reserved by someone else.
These problems can be addressed by
screens which display the availability
of lecture halls and pop-ups on your
computer screen about the
availability of the computer. In this
way, Student Party SAM wants to
simplify the way of finding a suitable
study place.
2. Digitalization of student facilities
Digitalization of student facilities can make studying more comfortable for students.
We as Student Party SAM, detect a lot of possibilities in regard to this.
2.1 handing in assignments and theses online
At the end of 2014, Student Party SAM presented an initiative which would grant students the opportunity to hand in their assignments merely digital. Since this initiative also states that handing papers in as hard-copy should not be necessary, it is an
eco-friendly proposal. Moreover, not handing in papers as hard-copy can save students
a lot of travel time. Currently a pilot is used, for one study of every faculty, to investigate this new method. Coming September the pilot will be evaluated and from then on
SAM will strive to making this change permanent.
2.2 tiu software at home
Student Party SAM thinks that students should be able to use the software that is
available on Tilburg University’s computers at home. By means of a virtual desktop
software this will become possible. In this way, students will not necessarily have to go
to the Library to use this software.
election programme 19
2.3 online readers
For a lot of courses students have to purchase a reader via Prisma Print. This costs money
and moreover, students are bound by the restricted opening hours. Student Party SAM
wants to make all readers available online so students do not have to deal with these
issues.
2.4 Grade list in pdf-format
A proper grade list plays an essential role in applying for a job. However, currently it is not
possible to download your grades in a proper format via Blackboard. Blackboard merely
displays your grades and therefore you need to go to Student Desk to receive an official
hard-copy of your grades. Student party SAM wants to create the opportunity for students
to retrieve an official grade list in PDF-format via Blackboard.
2.5 improvement of TiU app
For a few years now, Tilburg University has been using
an app to provide students with information about the
university. Student Party SAM believes that it is very important to keep this app up-to-date and informative. At
the moment, the app is not usable on every smartphone,
Blackboard is not integrated, Course Announcements are
not visible and other practical information has not been
displayed. These are examples of concrete things which
we want to improve next year.
2.6 room reservation system
Because of the room reservation system that the
university implemented, it is made easier for students to
study in groups without being disturbed by others. Student Party SAM discovered particular problems with the
current system: some halls are not available for booking
and it happens frequently that a hall is booked twice. We
want to create a system which clearly shows which lecture
halls are available and which have already been reserved.
20 election programme
2.7 printing facilities
At the moment, there are already a lot of printing facilities on campus. However,
according to Student Party SAM, there is still room for improvement. For example, we
are currently committed to make printing possible from all devices. This does not only
include laptops and computers, but also phones and tablets. Additionally, we want to
place a few computers at the entrance of the Library, which are computers only for printing. These solutions will make printing possible, even when the Library is full.
3. sports facilities
At Tilburg University, doing sports is very popular. Student Party SAM has the opinion
that not only the performing aspect is of importance, but the social aspect is also essential. To build a pleasant climate we like to cooperate with the sport associations of
Tilburg University. Maintaining the Sports Center and realising a sports canteen are very
important things to us. Furthermore, Student Party SAM will monitor the capacity
problems of the and investigate the options to extent the Sports Center.
“Student Party SAM
wants to create the opportunity for students to
retrieve an official grade
list in PDF-format. This is
way more professional
for a job interview.”
3.1 sports canteen
Since 2013, Student Party SAM is putting effort
in realising a sport canteen next to the sports
fields outside, in cooperation with the big sport
associations. Coming July, the Executive Board
will present an extensive proposal in the
University Council, in order to realise a sport
canteen. We as Student Party SAM will keep
monitoring this process, so we can make sure
that there will be a sport canteen which students like.
4. Catering
A lot of students use the catering facilities available on campus. Student Party SAM has
the opinion that is it very important to serve proper meals, which are suitable for all
students and employees. We want to ensure the quality and affordability of the meals
served on campus.
election programme 21
5. Bike repair on campus
Student Party SAM wants to realise a permanent possibility for bike repair on
campus. Depending on the interests of the students, this will be either a solid
location which is opened daily, or a weekly opened location. Furthermore, this
would be a suitable point to sell cheap bikes to students.
6. power Sockets
Power ockets in lecture halls, especially in the bigger ones, are at the centre of
attention for Student Party SAM. A lot of students use laptops, tablets or other
electronical devices to take notes and since there is only a limited amount of power
sockets, not everyone is able to charge their device. Student Party SAM wants to
realise more power sockets across the whole campus to counter this problem.
7. wifi improvement
Considering digitalization, Student Party SAM want to improve the quality and
speed of the WIFI across the whole campus. Since there are more study places
outside, it is important that the WIFI-connection is also working properly outside
the buildings.
22 election programme
broadening and deepening
1. Connection to the labour market
By actively making use of alumni and companies in education, Student Party SAM
supports a better connection with the labour market. Especially in this time, it is urgent that Tilburg University takes responsibility in this matter, in order that students
find jobs sooner after their graduation. Student Party SAM want to find the connection on the labour market in several components.
1.1 Internships
By offering internships, the student will be motivated and stimulated to develop
themselves and gain practical experience alongside their studies. Students get a
broad view of the expectations at the labour market and practical experience is getting more important when applying for a job. By offering internships, and offering the
student to have the opportunity to participate in these internships without delay in
their program, the student will be primed for the labour market.
1.2 soft skills
Besides academic knowledge, the demand for graduated students with properly developed skills is increasing. Student Party SAM has the intention to pay special attention to these ‘soft skills’ (these are also called 21st Century Skills), both inside and
outside the study program. During the regular courses the emphasis must not just
be on knowledge gathering, it must also be on skills that are relevant for professional
practice. Student Party SAM suggests to introduce free vouchers for trainings that will
improve and develop soft skills. Then students are able to take trainings additional to
their program, in order to develop skills that are of benefit for this student.
election programme 23
1.3 student career center
By means of the Student Career Centre, Tilburg University supports its students in the
orientation on the labour market. This is a step in the right direction and Student Party
SAM sees this as positive development. Student Party SAM believes that Tilburg University and the various associations in Tilburg should complement each other in the orientation to the labour market. Structural dialogue between the associations and Tilburg
University are essential in order to achieve constructive cooperation.
2. Flexibilisation
Student Party SAM believes that students
must be able to organize their study time in
their own way. This means that education is
established as flexible as possible. By means
of web lectures, digistalization offers
flexibility to students. Because of this, students ccan define their own lecture schedule. In addition to the opportunity to attend
lectures from a distance, Student Party SAM
believes that it is important that the student
is not limited in the exercise of extracurricular activities, such as a board year or starting
their own business.
2.1 Tuition fee per course
Following consultation with the national politics, Tilburg University considers to start a
pilot in order that students have the opportunity to pay tuition fees per subject. If this
pilot is successful, this will be enabled for all students at Tilburg University. Student Party
SAM sees this as a possible breakthrough in the current education system. Students will
not be forced to pay the total tuition fee if they are attending only one or a few subjects.
Of course, students maintain the possibility to study according the current system.
24 election programme
2.2 Flexible semester
Alongside digitalisation, Student Party SAM wants to create a flexible semester so that
students have the choice to arrange a semester as they see fit. Students have the choice
to do an internship, go on exchange or to attend a minor at Tilburg University. Student
Party SAM submitted an initiative for this matter. By giving ECTS to an internship, the student will be stimulated to do an internship and the student can make their own choice
between an internship, exchange or minor.
2.3 Digital Examination
“ Student Party
SAM sees the possibility to pay tuition per course as a
breakthrough in the
current system of
education.”
As part of the development of digital subjects with web
lectures, Student Party SAM sees opportunities in digital
examination. In this way, students are able to attend their
classes during their exchange. To make the examination
from a distance provides flexibility and is a step forward
in the light of a broader development of students. As a
result, the student is stimulated to still go on exchange
and the student will not be limited by unfinished courses
or delay in their program.
3. Internationalisation
Tilburg University is an international university with many international studies and many
international students. Both international students who stay in Tilburg for six months and
international students who study at Tilburg University for their entire study program. But
also Dutch students are becoming more aware of international opportuinites like studying abroad, international internships, or becoming active within international minded
student associations.
3.1 Online open days for international students
It is important that Tilburg University creates a good image for international students. In
this way, interational students know what the university can offer them. It is necessary
that the international student can include this in their decision to study at Tilburg University. Student Party SAM is committed to organize online open days so that every student,
anywhere in the world, gets an accurate picture of Tilburg University.

3.2 the vois
The Voice Of the International Students (VOIS) is a new committee established by Student Party SAM in collaboration with international-orientated study and student organizations linked to Tilburg University. With this committee, SAM wants to respond to the
current society where internationalization and globalization are key factors. We want
to give the international students and international-minded students a voice inside the
university and its participation councils.
4. Second Master’s degree
At this moment students are paying institutional fees that can vary from €4.000 to
€13.000. By means of applying for a second Master during their first Master’s degree,
many students circumvent this fee. Student Party SAM submitted an initiative proposal
to ensure that the institutional fees of a second Master will be equal to the statutory
fees. Student Party SAM wants to encourage this in the University council.
5. Certificates for extracurricular activities
By connecting certificates to extracurricular activities, the student will get more valuation and recognition for these extracurricular activities. Student Party SAM aims to add
these certificates to their diploma. By doing so, the student can show these certificates
during an application. These certificates concerns activities as a board year at student
associations, student-assistants and student advisors, honors programs and exchanges.
In addition that the student has something tangible, it also gives more valuation and
motivation from the University whereby the student can further stand out.

6. Opening and closing academic year
Student Party SAM regrets that Tilburg University does not have a university wide-opening and closing of the academic year. In the context of a ‘living campus’, these types of
activities would constitute a major step forward.
6.1 Opening academic year
Currently, Tilburg University has a general opening of the academic year, that showed
feeble attendance by students. Despite the fact that the TOP-Week and the TUC are
organized for freshman and active students, there is no university-wide opening of the
academic year at Tilburg University. Student Party SAM wants this to change. The idea
is that there is an opening organized per study or per faculty, depending on the number
of students. Students can, while enjoying a lunch and/or a drink, come in contact with
fellow students, teachers and study associations.
6.2 Closing academic year
Since Tilburg University does not have a general closing of the academic year, Student
Party SAM wants to respond to this situation, with a view to the uniform academic
calender. The idea is to organize a student festival at the end of the year, so that students
can relax and enjoy a snack and a drink while listening to music in the sun. Preference will
be given to a cooperation with the university in this field. 7. Equality among students
Student Party SAM values equality among students and their
reciprocal respect very much. All students should be treated
equally, so they do not feel like they are not as important as
others. Therefore we think that Tilburg University should be
and stay an university where everyone feels at home.
