Tell a Different Story
Chain Youth Exchange
2nd phase in
Trysil, Norway 11th - 19th of September
Description of the project
"Tell a Different Story" is a chain of two youth exchanges. First part was
held in Misaktsieli, Georgia in June. Second part will be held in Trysil,
Norway in september.
Projects brings together 30 youngsters from Azerbaijan (Common
Sense), Georgia (DRONI), Czech Rebublic (Be International), Denmark
(Shokkin Group Denmark), Estonia (Shokkin Group) and Norway
(Shokkin Group Norge) in order to explore the topic of active citizenship
through using media and multimedia tools, with the main focus in
photography as a tool.
The youth exchange will take place from 11th- 19th of september.
We have 8 working days. Sunday 11th of September is arrival day and we
start the program in the evening, while Monday the 19th of september
will be departure day all day.
More details about the program will be provided later on.
Aims and objectives of the project:
Project aims in increase participation level among its participants and
make them active citizens in their communities through equipping
them with media and multimedia tools of self expression, specifically
photography, and raising awareness on using social media as a
powerful tool for self expression and voicing their message.
Project sets the following objectives:
- To discuss and reflect on the issue of active citizenship among
young people in order to fully realize its profits and values.
- To boost participants positive attitude towards being active
and expressing themselves in political, social and cultural
issues in their communities.
- Equip young people with creative multimedia tools to express
themselves and promote photography as a tool for this.
- To increase participants' media literacy, provide the
awareness and raise the accessibility with the alternative "fair
media" sources.
- To provide better understanding of using social media as a
powerful tool to self expression.
- To create concrete results, specifically a booklet based in the
experience of the project, which would spread the outcome of it
and make it accessible for wide range of relevant stakeholders.
- To foster mutual understanding and intercultural dialogue,
support the value of intercultural learning among the
youngsters from different parts of Europe.
In the first part of the project in Georgia we focused on providing the
knowledge, skills and attitudes on the project topic. While this part in
Norway will be more practical, including a public photo exhibition
prepared by the participants, a booklet on the topic of active citizenship
designed by the participants and workshops at the local schools, where
we can practice and share our knowledge.
Profile of the participants:
The project is targeted at young people, members/volunteers of the partner
organizations, or the ones being around them, preferably aged between 18- 25.
The participants should either be active in their community life, or interested in
taking more active part in it, have valuable ideas and initiatives, which in case of
proper procession and facilitation can serve for the progress of the society.
Participants of this project are required to have at least basic skills in English and
greater interest of selfdevelopment. It’s desirable, but not absolutely necessary to
have some basic experience with media and multimedia, specifically
photography, since we are using it as a tool in our work.
The selection process is the responsibility of each partner. Each organization is
required to select 1 group leader and 4 participants, in total 5 persons. There group
leader should be 18+. Please bare in mind the gender balance while selecting the
participants.
Since “Tell a different story” is a chain of two youth exchanges, it’s very
important for us to maintain the same group of young people during both
activities, as they are very much interconnected and continuous, offering
different experience and competences. It would be preferable if the selected
participants from the 1st phase, also took part in the 2nd phase of the project.
NOTE ! Participants are expected to bring along a camera with themselves.
Otherwise it should be communicated with the organizers in advance. It can
be any kind of camera, from very simple one to professional.
