A Letter From Bob Elliott
President & CEO
Thank you for attending our 50th celebration concert. May our hearts and
souls embrace Psalm 113:3 that declares, “From the rising of the sun unto the
going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.” It is our prayer that
tonight, we will praise our glorious God and worship the King Who has been
faithful to our school system since its origins in 1963.
Many things have changed since then, but our Lord has not. Nor has the
heart and soul of our schools: the education of our children in God’s way. We
are still educating the entire child–mind, body, and spirit. We still have godly
men and women who daily model Christ in their classrooms while integrating
Biblical principals into all our subjects. We still have chapels, service hours,
mission trips. And, we are still a family to your family.
As you can imagine, I meet a lot
of graduates from our schools,
and there is a unique reaction to
having attended DC or XC. Their
memories go beyond the typical
school memories. The people
I’ve met tell story after story of
how faculty, staff, coaches, or
fellow students challenged them,
impacted them, and changed their
lives. A certain chapel spoke to
them. A mission trip inspired
them. A fellow student prayed for
4
Dayton Christian School System
them. A teacher believed in them. We also
receive letter after letter of former students
who openly confess that they were one
of those “problem” students, but how the
scripture they memorized as youths came
back with power as adults, completely
transforming them later in life. Those are
the letters that humble me and remind me
that what we do here is not void or in vain.
We are indeed educating for eternity, and
tonight is just a small thank you to all of
you who have participated in that–friends,
donors, family, alumni, students, staff,
faculty. We are all united in one family as
children of a loving Father.
We praise YOU, God, and thank YOU for
allowing us to be a part of a heritage of fifty
years at this remarkable school system. We
are excited to see what You bring to us in
the next fifty years.

A Letter From Bud Schindler
Founder & President Emeritus
“Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to
do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”
Habakkuk 1:5
In 1963 when God gave a small group of believers the vision to begin a Christian
school in Dayton, little did we know the miraculous journey that He had in
store for us. We literally had no idea what God had in mind. Starting with a
meager student body of fourteen children, we grew to a system impacting
thousands of young lives both nationally and internationally for eternity.
Our greatest joy and passion
has been for the wonderful
young people and their
families that God brought into
our lives. We have watched
and celebrated their victories,
wept and prayed with them in
times of sorrow and struggle,
and with them gave praise
to our precious Savior as
they grew into adulthood.
Their lives today bring us
such joy as they serve our
Lord literally around the
world. The Apostle John in
III John 1:4 expresses well
8
Dayton Christian School System
the way we feel about our students:
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my
children walk in truth.”
We embrace the truth that anything
of value can only be accomplished by
praying and totally depending upon
God. Our commitment has been and
continues to be to pray and experience
His grace and mercy as He works.
Jeremiah 33:3 continues to appear
on our walls as a testimony of our
dependence upon Him: “Call to Me,
and I will answer you, and show you
great and mighty things, which you do not
know.” God has indeed done great and
mighty things in the ministry of Dayton
Christian.
Humbly serving Him with you,
- Bud & Carole Schindler

Dayton Christian School System Leadership
On behalf of the Board of Trustees for the Dayton Christian School System, I
would like to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to God
for this ministry and the impact of the dedicated teachers and administrators
who have worked in the lives of children in the Dayton area for the last fifty
years. This current board and the trustees who have served before us have had
the unique perspective of watching the Heavenly Father’s mighty hand move
powerfully in initiating, growing, and sustaining this ministry for the last half
century. It has been a humbling privilege to serve, seeking God’s will and direction
as He has called parents and teachers to partner sacrificially to assure that our
children are not simply being educated for life on this earth, but for all eternity.

Throughout his 29-year career as a recording artist, Michael W. Smith has amassed
an impressive catalog of achievements. His 24 albums have garnered multiple
honors including an American Music Award, 3 GRAMMY® Awards (from 13

16 Gold, 7 Platinum, and 2 Double-Platinum albums for career sales of 15 million.
Most recently, Smith released GLORY, his second full-length instrumental album
on Nov. 21, 2011, and Decades of Worship, a collection of his most popular worship

Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2009, Smith has scored film

Live,” “FOX & Friends,” The Associated Press, Billboard, USA Today, The New York
Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, and more.
Constantly giving back to the community, one of Smith’s current projects is
Rocketown–a nightclub for teens in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee–
which serves as a safe place for young people to enjoy music and for artists to be
discovered.
But for all of Michael’s accolades, for his involvement in his teen outreach
Rocketown, leadership in his local church body, the business of being an artist,
an author, and a record label executive, Michael sums up his life as this, “to be
remembered as a God-fearing man who loved his wife and kids well.”
Michael and wife Debbie of thirty years have been blessed with five children: Ryan,
Whitney, Tyler, Emily, and Anna, and in recent years the family has continued to
grow as their children have expanding families of their own.

50th Anniversary Logo
This year, the Dayton Christian School System is using a special anniversary logo
created to commemorate God’s goodness to our ministry over the past fifty years.
The logo utilizes classic symbols of the Christian faith, including the Sword of the Spirit
and the Shield of Faith (Ephesians 6:16-17). The colors represent the existing branches
of our school system--burgundy for our school system, purple for Dayton Christian,
blue for Xenia Christian, and green for Dayton Christian Homeschool.
We also incorporated the school system’s long-time tagline “Educating for Eternity”
and added the new tagline “Faithfully Looking Forward.”
God has blessed the Dayton Christian School System in incredible and miraculous ways
over the years, but “Faithfully Looking Forward” was thoughtfully added to this year’s
logo to demonstrate that we truly believe that the Dayton Christian School System has
not just a rich heritage but also a promising future.
Hebrews 12:1-2 says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud
of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us
run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of
our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and
is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
We’re not done running! Thank you for celebrating this special year with us. We cherish
your friendship!

Our Campuses
The Dayton Christian School System is indeed blessed to operate on
two beautiful and historic campuses in Miamisburg and Xenia. Both
conveniently-located campuses provide families with safe and comfortable
facilities where their children can thrive academically, physically, socially,
and spiritually.

Located at 9391 Washington Church Road in Miamisburg, near
the Dayton Mall, our Dayton Christian campus serves almost
1000 students in the southern Montgomery County and northern
Warren County areas. Our 43-acre K-12 six-building complex, formerly
the NCR World Training Headquarters, was acquired in 2003 and after
much renovation now features beautiful modern, spacious classrooms
and offices. The new site plan currently being developed for this
campus includes plans for an athletic complex and fine arts facility
improvements.

• Over 1500 students and 375 adults have served in 16 countries and 14
states since 1993.
• Striving for 50,000 hours of service for our 50th anniversary year!
50th Anniversary Year-Long Serv-a-thon
A year-long serv-a-thon is underway throughout our school system this
50th anniversary year with the goal of having our school family and alumni
collectively donate 50,000 hours of community service in the name of our
Lord Jesus and as a thank you to the many churches and organizations in
the Miami Valley who have supported us through the years.
By serving others, our students learn to be the hands and feet of Jesus and
to love their neighbors as themselves, clearly understanding the biblical
teaching “…’Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these, my
brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.’” (Matt. 25:40 KJV)
Here are just a few of the 50th Anniversary Year-Long
Serv-a-thon projects:
•Elementary students collected items and prepared
relief boxes for Hurricane Sandy victims.
•Students, teachers, and staff contributed to a care
package including letters/notes to encourage alum
and Army Ranger, Sgt. Andrew Isaacson while he
was serving in Afghanistan.
•Through various investment projects middle school
boys Bible classes raised money and contributed
their earnings of $1,507.14 to Greater Grace
Orphanage in Nigeria.
•Pre-K through high school students all participated
in collecting 976 Operation Christmas Child
shoeboxes, with many students using their own
money to buy the toys and gifts to fill the boxes.
•Students collected almost $4,000 for the Miami
Valley Women’s Center and will continue to raise
money for the center all year long through various
projects.
•One group of elementary students served each other
in their class by taking turns leading devotional
thoughts to encourage and inspire their classmates.

•The Chicago Mission Team of 53 students is
scheduled for numerous fundraising events this
year to benefit TARGET Dayton Ministries in
downtown Dayton and to purchase several hundred
dollars worth of school supplies, first-aid/medical
supplies and supplements for care packages they
will deliver to By The Hand, South Asian Nursing
Home, and the homeless community in Chicago.
•The Middle School Student Council purchased
Bibles to send to our military through the American
Bible Society by selling Bill’s Donuts and by
sponsoring a Jeans’ Day.

•Third graders made cards and bookmarks for
nursing homes at Christmas.

about females, instead of the lies that the world
tells women!
•Students from two of our families participated in
the “Video Bridge to Russia” project.
•Three of our students assisted the Xenia Rotary
with the Salvation Army Kettle bell ringing.
•Kindergarteners
and
elementary
students
combined their handwriting, coloring, and Bible
verse lessons into a project for the homeless,
writing Scripture verses on decorative stationery
that they colored and mounted on construction
paper, making placemats for a luncheon for the
homeless sponsored by a local church serves. The
kids pray for the people receiving their placemats.
•High school students visit John Sale Manor in
Xenia several Fridays each month to encourage and
assist the residents.

to write and deliver words of encouragement to
active duty troops serving in combat zones and to
the elderly and/or the terminally ill at local nursing
homes and hospitals, 2) to serve in multiple soup
kitchens, and 3) to execute “The Linus Project,” a
campaign to make and deliver blankets to children
in need.
