From the Desk of the Headmaster
In the opening lines of Frank Sperduto’s A History
of Rutgers Preparatory School, he states that “when
Governor William Franklin granted a charter in 1766 to
establish a college in New Jersey, a long and complex
struggle ensued before Queen’s College opened its doors
in New Brunswick. In that struggle Rutgers Preparatory
School was founded…..”
We are rapidly approaching the 250th anniversary of
that founding, and it seems as though, as the current
commercial suggests, we are “traveling at the speed of
life.” Part of this speed is the manner in which we can
share information with our alumni, and it is a pleasure
to invite you to view the various articles included in this
edition of ALUMNI TIES.

The Impact of Service
Our students are
accustomed to participating
in community service. As
they go on to college, many
continue and expand on
the concept of giving of
themselves to help others.
Kaitlin Torrenzano ’03 has
shared her experiences of
her missions to Mexico and
Peru. Click here.

role in her memories as you will
read here.
Travels with Barbara Herzberg
Many of our past faculty have taken to the road and are
traveling the globe. Barbara Herzberg has shared some
of her more recent traveling experiences, including a very
special trip to Egypt. To catch up with Barbara, click here.
Consistency
Last fall we asked alumni to
share their fondest memories
of Rutgers Prep with us. Some
of these memories appeared
in our annual magazine, RPS
Today. Click here to read what
Jerry Gildar ’60 describes as
a” lesson in consistency.”
