Fr. Rene’s Letter
Dear Parishioners,
Following his warning words about the trials and dangers coming to Jerusalem and its people, the Lord Jesus adds
immediately a remedy: constant and earnest prayers. In today’s Sunday Gospel which features a parable of a very
wicked judge and a widow in misery, our Lord invites us to gladly accept his encouragement and be willing to do what he
commands. For God who sustains, redeems, and sanctifies us never refuses his blessings to them that pray. Though not
by words, but by his mercy, he answers us; he even stirs us up not to faint in praying. It is indeed a privilege to talk with
God in prayer, asks and receives what his goodness is longing to impart.
The judge in the parable is a picture of a greater degree of wickedness, defiled in every sin. He cares nothing for God or
for people’s need. He is irreverent towards men and reckless of them. His power and his own welfare are the only things
that count for him. A picture of misery is the persevering widow who cries aloud to heaven to avenge her. Does she not
resemble our Holy Mother Church who daily cries aloud that wickedness may perish—either by conversion to
righteousness, or by punishment of having lost the opportunity of conversion. The widow at length prevailed, to the
realization of her desire. Accordingly, if perseverance could melt the most unjust judge, how much more confident we
ought to be who are children of God to incline our prayers to God the Father of all mercies. Can we pray like that of the
widow, who does not ask quietly, who cries aloud and makes herself a nuisance, who gives the judge no peace? Rattling
God’s door, banging at his heart—will that prayer move God’s heart? Be not ashamed, but try this prayer. One thing is
certain: when faith fails, prayer dies.
On October 23rd World Mission Sunday will be celebrated in our local Church and throughout the world. In his Message
for World Mission Sunday 2016, Pope Francis reminds us, “Let us not close our hearts within our own particular concern,
but let us open them to all of humanity”. Our annual gift, prayers and sacrifices will support missionaries serving in more
than 1,111 mission dioceses.
Many thanks to those who have prayerfully considered and given their share to the Catholic ministries Appeal 2016. We
are 111.95% of our parish goal, $5,102.00 over. We continue to encourage parishioners who haven’t participated yet to
consider giving to this worthy cause. Also, a special thanks to Mrs. Lucy Chang for her donation ($1000.00) to St.
Aloysius, in memory of Dr. John Chang. May you be blessed with the spirit of God’s mercy.
Please continue to keep in your prayers our Re Ed young disciples and their catechists, our RCIA participants and
catechists, and the renovation work in the Old School kitchen. Electrical works have already been done in the kitchen.
We are now waiting for the inspectors to examine and approve it. Pray that they come sooner.
Finally, a woman prays. “Dear Lord, I pray for: Wisdom, to understand a man.
Love, to forgive him, and;
Patience, for his moods.
Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength, I’ll just beat him to Death.

BULLETIN REFLECTION
29TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Today’s theme is perseverance - Moses keeping
his hands upraised throughout the battle, Paul
urging Timothy to stay with the task of preaching
and teaching, and the widow appealing to the
corrupt judge. To be faithful stewards of God’s
gifts, we must persevere in the roles to which we
are called.

In the Gospel today Jesus tells his disciples to pray always
without becoming weary, indeed our prayer must always be an
expression of our love for God, our family, our world, and
especially for the suffering poor.
As you place your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Poor Box, please say a special prayer for the poor who
have no one to pray for them.
We are in need of clothing for school aged children.
Thank you for any help you can give.
PLEASE PRAY FOR…

On
Wednesday,
November 2nd at
7:30PM
we will
Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 7:30PM
celebrate a special
memorial Mass to
remember all of our
deceased
loved
ones At this Mass, we will call by name all those who have
been buried from our parish over the past two years.
This week during class time our Religious Education
students will participate in a "Rosary Assembly" in the
gym, lead by Fr. Rene.
All students will report to class first and then be
escorted by their catechist to the gym. We will pray
the rosary together as a student body (during all 3
sessions - Tuesday at 4:30PM, Tuesday at 7:00PM and
Wednesday at 4:30PM).
When the assembly is over, the students and
catechists will return to their classrooms before the
usual dismissal. Parents are welcome to join us in the
gym for the rosary.
If you have been thinking of helping out perhaps you
could fill a vacancy in our program. We are in need of a
hall mom (or dad) during the Tuesday afternoon
session. This job takes place on the third floor of our
school building from 4:20PM-5:30PM Tuesday
afternoons. The "class mom (or dad)" sits in the
hallway during class time. They monitor the use of the
bathroom, they assist teachers by getting supplies off
the cart in the hallway, they issue 'late passes' to
every child that arrives after 4:35PM, they collect
attendance folders. If you are free and would like to
help in this way, please call our Religious Education
Office and leave your name. The job is done on a
rotating basis. This means you DO NOT have to be
there every week but only once every 5 or 6 weeks.
Thank you for considering this position.
All Saints Day,
a Holy Day of Obligation,
is on Tuesday, November 1st.
Masses will be held at 8AM,
12 Noon and 7:30PM.
All Souls Novena of Nine Holy Masses
will begin on Wednesday, November
2nd at the 8AM Mass.
Intention
envelopes are available throughout
the Church.
