The Truth: MY ARCHITECTS are five
intense young men from Warrington,
England. They consist of Aid Burrows
(vocals/acoustic guitar), Rich Robinson
(electric guitar), Matt McWilliams (bass),
David Cheetham (drums) and Mike
"Fibes"
Phillips
(keyboards/synths/samplers/backing
vocals). They formed in 2004 and have
been stealthy honing their sound in the
North-West of England over the past
year.
GRAND DESIGNS is the quintet's first
album. It was recorded in Warrington and
France in the company of James Sanger
(U2, Keane) and then mixed by Ian
Grimble (Manics, Travis). On their
seethingly busy myspace site the band
say that they sound like this:
"contradictory thoughts and sensations.
Like waking from a self-inflected coma in a
forest just a short walk away from the most
beautiful sunrise. Everything moves fast at
the same time as it moves slow..." And
they aren't wrong.

Destroy What You Enjoy
Destroy What You Enjoy marks the
beginning of yet another unpredictable
and no doubt anarchic chapter in the
story of Powerman 5000, a band that
seems to thrive and grow stronger with
each passing rock ‘n roll cataclysm.
Filled with anthemic punk-inspired tunes
and a gritty rock n’ roll feel, Destroy What
You Enjoy is both the next logical step
and a huge leap forward in the continuing
sonic evolution of Powerman 5000. With
well over 1.5 million units sold in Canada
& the US over their career, PM5K has
managed to retain its fan-base while that
of their peers has slowly dwindled away.
Part of the reason why Powerman 5000
has been able to maintain its place in the
current rock market is their dedication to
touring. The band spent most of 2005 on
the road without an album to support . . .
and 2006 will prove no different. The band
will set out for a North American headlining
tour in early July straight through the end of
September.

Canadian Idol's 2005 season turned out to be
the #1 rated show in Canadian television
history. The show has gained a reputation for
introducing some amazing talent. Now for the
very 1st time in 'Idol' franchise history,
anywhere in the world, it has spawned a
bona-fide singing group. Casey LeBlanc from
Nackawic, New Brunswick (near Fredericton),
Amber Fleury from Calgary, Alberta, and
Ashley Leitao from Burnaby, B.C. are...
BRAIDED.
All three artists became
household names as top 10 finalists
performing for millions of viewers each week.
They have completed their first cd called
'Casey, Ashley and Amber' . With the help of
producer Mark Lalama and his stable of
songwriters and musicians who have
contributed to the works of James Taylor,
Celine Dion, Joe Cocker, Amanda Marshall,
Tom Cochrane, Kalan Porter, and many
more, Braided has recorded a cd that differs
greatly
from
the
usual
'Idol'
fare.
Characterized by songs deeply entrenched in
the singer/songwriter tradition, "Casey, Ashley
and Amber" is a representation of the group's
connection to music, family, love, and life.
The last year has been a crazy ride for these
three talented artists and now as they band
together as BRAIDED, it seems the ride has just
begun.

The first single, 'A Little Bit Closer" was sent to 240 radio stations via Musicrypt on June 15
and by Monday, June 19th had had already been added by stations from the Maritimes to
British Columbia.
Braided is being marketed aggressively to their television audience via CTV website features.
Also coming soon will be on air advertising on the current season of Canadian Idol, which has
historically attracted more than 2 million viewers per broadcast.
BRAIDED will be supporting the record with live television appearances, such as E-Talk
Daily, and Canada AM. As stated above, each of the three girls resides in a different part of
Canada- New Brunswick, Alberta, and British Columbia. As a result of live on air radio
requests, each member will be visiting stations in their vicinity.

He has already worked with some of the
best acts within hip-hop, and has been
on an almost constant tour throughout
Sweden and Europe for the past two
years. Swedish MC Chords has made
himself quite an impressive reputation
among lyricists on both sides of the
Atlantic with his strong punch-lines and
flowing rhymes.
Sharing his strategy for the album,
“Nobody does Hip Hop albums anymore”
states Chords. “Instead everybody has
been doing gangsta rhymes or strange
‘R&B collabos’. I wanted to do an album
with just hard beats and lyrics. You can
have attitude at the jam without trying to
shoot up the club. You can have fun on
an album, without being a clown” And
that’s exactly what Chords has
accomplished.
Chords debut album “The Garden Around
the Mansion” gives Hip Hop fans the
original essence of what Hip Hop was all
about: Original beats for the streets,
intelligent lyrical execution and a fun ride
for the listener.

Del Tha Funky Homosapien
Cousin of renowned gangster rapper Ice
Cube, Del tha Funkee Homosapien
(real name Teren Delvon Jones) was
born in Oakland, CA, on August 12,
1972, and got his start with Ice Cube's
backing band, da Lench Mob. But Del's
rap isn't as grim or violent as Ice Cube's
is, in fact, he's been known to include
something in his music that's far too
uncommon in most rap: humor. Signed to
Elektra/Asylum, Del's debut release, I
Wish My Brother George Was Here, was
issued in 1991 and produced by Cube
and like most rap at the time, featured
numerous
samples
of
Parliament
Funkadelic classics from the '70s. Del's
follow-up, 1994's No Need for Alarm, was
a departure musically, as Ice Cube was
no longer in the production seat and the
The 11 t h Hour
P-Funk sounds were dropped in favor
of a more sophisticated, almost jazzy
sound.
Despite
his
noble
experimentation, Del's sophomore
effort failed commercially, as it would
take four years for the rapper to plot
his next move and issue another
recording. Having left Elektra, Del
aligned himself closely to a few fellow
rapper friends, Casual and Souls of
Mischief, and issued his third release
overall, 1998's Future Development,
for the same label as his friends,
Hieroglyphics Records. 2000 saw the
release of an all-new Del solo release,
Both Sides of the Brain, as well as a
self-titled debut release by a sideproject, Deltron 3030, which saw Del
join forces with both the Automator and
Kid Koala.
KEY SELLING POINTS:
x Del’s total sales of all projects (including Gorillaz, Deltron 3030, Both sides of the
Brain and No Need For Alarm) have totaled over 3 million worldwide

The wait is over. Silversun Pickups are
about to unveil their debut full-length
album on July 25. The Angelenos have
been hard at work in the studio for
months since the release of their EP,
Pikul, and are excited for the finished
copy to hit shelves. Singer / guitarist
Brian Aubert offers, “We worked our
asses off and we are very proud of the
finished product.” Using Pikul as the
blueprint, the full-length seamlessly
continues with Silversun’s signature
sound. Aubert continues, “We stayed
very focused on a feeling for the fulllength” it’s colder, more mechanical,
moodier - but at the end of it all, it’s a
rock record. And that’s what we wanted
to make.” The album captures the moody
nature of Silversun Pickups’ sound:
fuzzy guitars, driving bass grooves,
ethereal keyboards, angular drums, all
complimented by Aubert’s unmistakable,
raspy vocals.
This duality is the quality that sets the
Silversun Pickups apart.

Lynam
Slave to the Machine
On Slave to the Machine, their debut CD
for
DRT,
Birmingham,
Alabama’s
LYNAM churn out a heaping portion of
big, beefy riffs, saccharine-drenched
choruses and enough attitude to satiate
the appetite of even the biggest rock
fans. Slave to the Machine is all about
the unabashed release we experience in
letting our heads bob and our fingers tear
away
at
imaginary
fret
boards.
Reminiscent of equal parts Bon Jovi,
AC/DC & Aerosmith, LYNAM at once
pays homage to days when long-haired
musical warriors sold out stadiums
across the country and looks ahead to
the future in which they will do it once
again. They’re not playing the arenas –
not yet; but they are starting to stretch
beyond the Southeastern territory, which
they’ve reduced to a smoking ruin in the
wake of shows that have already sunk

The Drams
Jubilee Dive
Jam packed with brawny, spirited, handsin-the-air rockers, stirring anthems and
harrowing ventures, The Drams careen out
of Texas with Jubilee Dive—a welcome jolt
of rockyroll that is fresh and vital even as it
flaunts an effortless command of timetested rock manoeuvres.
Fronted by singer/songwriter/guitarist Brent

guitarist Jess Barr and drummer Tony
Harper (from Best’s long-running, alteverything mavericks, Slobberbone) with
singer/keyboardist Chad Stockslager and
singer/bassist Keith Killoren (both from
Dallas’ Budapest One), and while fans of
Best’s previous work won’t be thrown
completely for a loop, The Drams’ soaring
vocal harmonies, expanded instrumental

Put aside the vintage t-shirts; strip away the
labels and signifiers; don’t mind the schoolboy looks and tattoos. Just listen to the
catchy, inescapable pop-ridden music of
Mugshot. Their simple goal is to write great
pop songs with dashes of current punk. Not
100% pop, not 100% punk, not 100% emo.
Mugshot have put in over 7 years of
relentless independent touring, recording and
living. Selling over 2000 copies of their “Get
Well Soon” EP, touring all over North America
with some big bands and some small bands,
and being featured in various magazines,
Mugshot continues convincing new fans
everyday. Luckily, their first full-length album,
“Pause and Reflect” is finally coming.
Really, it has been years in the making by
crafting their song-writing, refining their line-up
all to simply write great pop songs. And that’s
what they’ve done.
For three months, the band were held up in
the studio with producer, Murray Daigle (The
Fullblast, Not By Choice, etc) writing and
recording their album for JTB Records.

Daily Urban Times
Formed in Madrid in 1999, The
Winnerys are like many other Rainbow
Quartz bands influenced by the melodic
60’s sounds of the Kinks, Beatles and the
Hollies – but have created a sound that is
distinctly modern while still tipping their
hats to the founding fathers of melodic
guitar-based rock, sounding at times like
more modern artists like The Posies and
R.E.M. With each member displaying a
high degree of musicianship, The
Winnerys have cast a spell on many an
audience with the alternating jangle and
growl of Fausto Martin’s and Borja
Bonafuente’s guitars, the rock steady
grooves of Javier Polo’s bass and Juanjo
Martin’s drums and, of course, their
irresistible three-part vocal harmonies.
Lyrically, they exhibit an emotional range
from poignant to downright mysterious in
a delicious mixture of catchy power pop,
beat and psychedelia. They played at
this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, Texas
and floored the large audience in
attendance.
They have also played at New York City’s
CMJ festival, the IPO (International Pop
Overthrow) in Chicago and also at the
mythic Cavern Club in their recent
appearance at the Liverpool IPO.

The Gurus
The Swing of Things
Press Quotes:
“Barcelona-based trio The
Gurus strike a noisy
compromise between
muscled-up Revolver-era
Beatles and latter day
slacker psych-pop à la
Oasis. Distorted vocals and
multiple backwards-tracked
guitars are brilliantly layered
like colourful Persian rugs
over a relentless dance beat,
while Bangra-ish melodies
impart some sort of Moorish
flavour to the mix.”

Barcelona-based pop outfit The Gurus
put out a mini-album on the very cool
Spanish label Bip Bip – and we liked the
record so much we asked the band and
label if they could record a bunch of new
songs to fill out a full-length LP – and that
resulted in the self-titled worldwide debut
that was their first release on Rainbow
Quartz. The sound of the first album
brimmed over with Revolver-esque
psychedelia, power-pop, pure guitar pop
and jangle that evokes label-mates
Cotton Mather and Telepathic Butterflies
and, at the same time, brought to mind
such a diverse mixture as Crosby, Stills,
Nash & Young, Firefall, Little River Band
and even Oasis. Sounds impossible, but
you have to hear the album for yourself.
For their second and new Rainbow
Quartz release, The Gurus mix and
match pure pop perfection, lysergic
psychedelia, modern rock and ambient
electronica. The new album has a more
prominent guitar crunch and swirling
experimentalism at the same time.
Think The Kinks meets Fripp and Eno.

Queer for the Ear
It seems that in this new world in which we
live, everything gets made over.
The plain looking girl next door becomes
revitalized with a new hairdo, the latest
fashions, possibly some cosmetic surgery and
voila! – The plain not only becomes
magnificent, but up to date. Of course the
recordings contained herein are anything but
plain, on the contrary, these songs are some
of the greatest dance classics that ever
satisfied an ear – and made some feet quite
happy as well. We’ve taken the original vocals
and gave some bona fide #1 Billboard chart
singles that rocked the disco and pop world a
complete makeover - including Company B’s
“Fascinated”, George McCrae’s “Rock Your
Baby”, Evelyn Thomas’ “High Energy”,
Tavares’
“More Than A Woman”, Santa Esmeralda’s
“Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”, Foxy’s “Get

that just bubbled under #1. Not just elements
of these classics were used, what makes this
makeover complete is that the original song is
left completely intact. The modern dance
sounds of House and Electroclash take over to
make this one of the most compelling remix

Queer for the Ear
Vol. 2
As we mentioned in the first installment, in the new
world we find ourselves in, anything and everything
is prime territory for a makeover. Since our first
volume the number of reality shows has
quadrupled, the fabulous five all have books
published or waiting to be published – makeovers
proved not to be a fad, they have become a way of
life and burned into the national consciousness.
We have also learned that once you start the
makeover process, there is no end to it – people
just want more and more and as amatter of fact,
their appetites are insatiable. How can one improve
what is already made-over? The answer is simple –
you go back to the basic seed and re-invent once
again. Which brings us to our latest installment...
We’ve taken the original vocals and have given
some bona fide Billboard chart singles that rocked
the disco and pop world a complete makeover –
including Miquel Brown’s “So Many Men So Little
Time”, Pat Marano’s “Love Disco Style”, Carol
Jiani’s “It’s Raining Men”, Hazel Dean’s “They Say
It’s Gonna Rain” and some exclusive never before
released gems for Volume II.
Not just elements of these classics were used, what
makes this makeover complete is that the original
song is left completely intact. The modern dance
sounds of House and Electroclash take over to make
this one of the most compelling remix projects of the
year.

The fumes that arose from the burning
of Disco records at Comiskey Park in
Chicago during the "Disco Sucks" rally
in 1979 never really killed club music
as was intended. Instead, out of the
ashes rose stronger, more viable
electronic dance music. This collection
of incredible dance music from the
80's, documents the height of the
sound now called by some, High
Energy. No matter what you decide to
name it, the tracks represented on this
collection contain some of the very
best music to pack a dance floor.
Packed chock full of hits, including the
#1 Billboard dance and club hit, "High
Energy".
KEY SELLING POINTS:
x All tracks are 80’s Billboard charted dance hits including the #1 dance hit “High
Energy” and the club anthem, “So Many Men, So Little Time’
x Traces the roots of the most popular 80’s dance music – from it’s inception to its

Evoking the images of intimate encounters
in luxurious locales, Rendevous after Dusk
provides almost everything you need for an
truly sultry evening. This two cd can be
thought of as a meal made up of a subtle
appetizer (cd1) with a sweet but spicy
dessert (cd2). Not surprisingly, a European
influence permeates this collection due to
the presence the continent’s most
respected purveyors of jazzy club vibes. To
call them just DJ’s, producers, or vocalists
would be a disservice, as most of these
connoisseurs of club culture represented
here function in multiple roles.
This is not solely an old world excursion by
any means. Rather it is more accurately a
blending of old and new. Miami, Munich,
Montego Bay, Milan, Moscow, Manhattan, Barcelona, Bahia, Brighton, Buenos Aires,
Bordeaux… where ever the point of
departure may be the destination is a
Rendevous after Dusk.

Music & Song From Italy
The tradition of Italian music turns out to
be the least spoiled, most vigorous and
most varied of all Western Europe. The
swift rise of high culture in Italian cities
during the Renaissance erected barriers
between the habits of town and
countryside. The city folk based their
culture on the fine art traditions of
Greece and Rome, while the peasants
continued undisturbed in their even more
ancient ways. The gap between city and
country widened until they spoke
different musical languages. Thus, Italy is
a 20th Century museum, not only of art
and architecture, but of musical favorites
as well. Join us as we survey the riches
of Italian traditional music.
KEY SELLING POINTS:
• Featuring the best loved melodies from all over Italy
• Recorded in Italy featuring the authentic Musica Italiana Orchestra
• Includes fan favorites “Funiculi, Funicula,” “La Donna E Mobile,”
“Come Back To Sorrento” and many more

Music & Song from Germany
A small German village snuggled in a
valley, surrounded by high, snowcapped
mountains - a large circus tent pitched in
the town square, completely encircled by
stalls selling trinkets, games, and
variations of German foods, schnitzel,
sausages and beer.
The sounds are those of thousands of
people laughing, dancing, singing and in
the tent are tables upon tables of happy
beer
drinkers, being served by
waitresses
dressed
in
traditional
Bavarian style, then weaving their way
back for a refill - all the while the bands
and singers are blaring forth with their
intoxicating rhythms in three-quarter
time. This CD provides the listener with a
sample of well-known German kinds of
festivals.

Musica Original de Cuba
One of the original exponents of the true
“Miami Sound”
– way before Gloria Estefan and Miami
Sound Machine’s spin on Cuban
rhythms started to bubble in the clubs,

explosive energy. When Suprema
played a dance, they drew thousands of

their appeal was legendary. Up until now,
these rare recordings have been in
great demand in collector’s circles all
over Europe and Japan, the original
vinyl pressings selling for hundreds of
dollars apiece in the States and abroad.
This
release
marks
the
first
documentation of this legendary band to
be released in the U.S. and the first ever
to include selections from all of their vinyl
releases from the equally legendary Sound
Triangle label. These are the
roots of modern Cuban salsa at its finest.
KEY SELLING POINTS:

on CD
x The music of Orquesta Suprema provided the blueprint for the “Miami Sound”
later popularized by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine

World music press – releases received “Editors Pick” 3 months in a row on
Cuban music site www.descarga.com

In the late 40’s and early 50’s, the Cuban
bandleader Luis Santi was a top
attraction in the Havana nightclubs,
appeared regularly on Cuban television
and was a featured artist on Cuban radio
station CMQ in Havana throughout the
50’s. His appeal was not limited to the
island of Cuba, Luis Santi’s music soon
spread to Mexico, South America and
Europe. Like so many Cuban musicians
of his time, he fled to America shortly
after the 1959 embargo. One of the first
Cuban expatriates to record in the U.S,
Santi
made
some
phenomenal
recordings in Miami enlisting the talents
of other recent expatriate Cuban master
musicians
such
as
the
famed
percussionist Carlos “Patato” Valdes and
horn man Negro Vivar. These famed
recordings have been among the most
sought after tracks by Cuban music fans
around the globe for many years, the
original vinyl pressings exchanging hands
for hundreds of dollars apiece in collector’s
markets. This eagerly anticipated
release marks the first CD issue of these
famed recordings, for many the
missing chapter in the recording history of
one of Cuba’s legendary bandleaders.
KEY SELLING POINTS:
x Highly sought after recordings by one of Cuba’s greatest bandleaders available

In addition to being one of the greatest
folk singers of all time, in December of
2005, Oscar Brand celebrated his 60th
Anniversary as host of the “Folksong
Festival” on WNYC, New York’s
municipal radio station – making it the
longest running show on radio or
television. In that half-century, Mr. Brand
has personally championed folk music
and has provided a platform for its most
important and influential proponents. A
gifted performer in his own right, Mr.
Brand has played alongside such
legends of folk music as Leadbelly, Pete
Seeger and Woody Guthrie and has
recorded well over 100 albums of folk
music in his sixty + year career. His
classic late 1950’s set for the Tradition
label, “Pie In The Sky,” has long been
hailed as one of the great examples of
satire in American folksong and stands up
as strongly today as when it was originally
released over 50 years ago.

folksong, Ewan MacColl and A.L. Lloyd rank
among the finest interpreters of traditional
music to have ever recorded. Any recording

Smithsonian Institution. The master of the
English concertina, Alf Edwards and the fine

wonderful, classic recordings from the late
1950’s when MacColl and Lloyd were at the
peak of their game.

history of folk music restored to its original

Tell Me Why is the full length album from Vancouver singer-songwriter and Knotty
Music recording artist Kayle. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Kayle's story is one of
survival. Tell Me Why is the story of an artist whose soul has escaped intact, rescued
from a tragic life and world of hurt by the power of her music; a narrative account about
rising above all the odds with a triumphant and cathartic work of art.
