COMMITTEES FOR INSTITUTIONAL LEADERSHIP
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College recognizes that the primary responsibility for the improvement of educational programs resides
with the faculty. The responsibility for improvement of educational programs and services provided by the college resides with both
the faculty and staff. A Leadership Support Team (LST) structure is essential for effective communication between the administration
and faculty and staff who are stakeholders in the educational process. LST committees serve to increase the effectiveness of the
planning, research, problem solving, and decision-making processes through a participatory, pro-active approach.
Committees are formed and/or restructured as needed to accomplish institutional tasks and projects designed to accomplish the
mission of the college. Faculty members serve on the team of their choice on a first come, first-serve basis. The president assigns to
each committee an administrator who serves in an advisory capacity. Other administrators are appointed to leadership committees
based on related work assignments. Committee membership for support staff is optional. After establishment of the committee,
members elect a captain and a co-captain to serve a two-year term. The co-captain serves as secretary of the team. Meetings are
scheduled in the afternoons if possible to avoid time dedicated to instruction. Administrators solicit student representation on
committees related to academic and student support services.
Administrators, directors, department heads, and other college personnel submit requests for team work, input, and feedback to the
president, who then delegates tasks to respective teams and subsequently receives feedback from team administrators and captains.
The table below lists committees and membership for the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. These committees, composed of
members from both East Central Technical College and Valdosta Technical College, will function during the merger planning and
implementation process and continuing through fiscal year 2011.
