September 1 - Archbishop Rummel High School
September 2015
Dear Parents,
Welcome to a new school year at Archbishop Rummel High School! We are off to a great
start. We have so much to be thankful for as we begin this new school year. God has
blessed us with a strong faith community, committed support from Archbishop Aymond,
a dedicated faculty, a number of campus renovations, and – most importantly - a wonderful group of students.
We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to insure your sons can
achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school,
your sons need support from both home and school. As partners, we share the responsibility for your sons’ success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry
out our responsibilities.
Please understand that visible parental participation in school activities directly contributes to the success of our students. We encourage you to get involved. Throughout the year, we need assistance with Lunch Duty and on the Hospitality Team to serve at
school functions. Many events require planning and on-site volunteers; these include:





“Return to Severn” Homecoming Pep Rally & Bonfire – Friday, October 2, 2015
Mother/Son Luncheon & Mass – Saturday, January 30, 2016
Celebrity Waiters Dinner & Auction – Saturday, April 30, 2016

To find out more about our volunteer needs, please contact Parent Booster President Amanda Reed by email at
[email protected] or on her cell at 504-982-1220.
All are invited to participate in the Lasallian traditions of faith, community, and service instilled by the Christian Brothers who opened
Archbishop Rummel High School in 1962. St. John Baptist de La Salle, Founder of the Brothers and Patron Saint of all teachers, reminded his first teachers to be ambassadors of Jesus Christ and His representative to the students entrusted to their care. The daily
goal of Lasallian educators at Rummel and Lasallian schools across the world is “to write the letter dictated by Christ, not with ink but
with the spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on the hearts of children.”
As we begin this new academic year, we ask you to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We ask God’s blessing on our students,
families, faculty, alumni, and the entire Archbishop Rummel community. We pray in particular for our recent alumni who are continuing their educational journeys and for the class of 2016 who are continuing their formation as Christian gentlemen and leaders. As
you have prayer requests, please send them to our campus minister Matthew Caire ’03 at [email protected].
May God bless you and your family,
Brother Gale Condit, F.S.C.
School President

As we enter September our retreat program
kicks off with our new 8th graders having their
first retreat as Rummel Raiders on September
8th and with our Senior Leaders retreat on September 10th and 11th. One of the most important things you can do for your sons is to pray for them, particularly for the 8th graders as they begin their high school careers with
their first retreat as Raiders. Saint Thomas Aquinas, patron saint of
students, offers the following prayer:
Come, Holy Spirit, Divine Creator, true source of light and fountain
of wisdom! Pour forth your brilliance upon my dense intellect, dissipate the darkness which covers me, that of sin and of ignorance.
Grant me a penetrating mind to understand, a retentive memory,
method and ease in learning, the lucidity to comprehend, and
abundant grace in expressing myself. Guide the beginning of my
work, direct its progress, and bring it to successful completion. This
I ask through Jesus Christ, true God and true man, living and reigning with You and the Father, forever and ever.
Amen.
