Viceroy Anguilla, the standard bearer
for modern Caribbean Resorts
Viceroy
A premier residential resort property along
Barnes Bay and Meads Bay.
Anguilla
s
eldom does one find an exceptionally modern resort that can co-exist comfortably with its tropical
surroundings, overtime their contemporary and imposing grand scale can appear as blots on the
landscape, out of context with the space they occupy.
This thankfully is not the case with the eye-wateringly sexy and super chic Viceroy Resort on the northwest
shore of the idyllic Eastern Caribbean island of Anguilla. Just 16 miles long and 3 miles wide, Anguilla is
actually quite small compared to some of the other islands in the Caribbean but what makes this island
truly one-of-a-kind is its 33 magnificent beaches.
With its tranquil atmosphere and beautiful beaches Anguilla, its name, attributed to its eel-like shape has
still managed to retain a secluded allure, and is today considered one of the Caribbean’s most sought
after destinations boasting fine restaurants and numerous resorts, Viceroy Resort being perhaps its finest.
Interior designer Kelly Wearstler’s use of bold art
and sculptures, merge with modern contours
of the furnishings and architecture perfectly.

The super chic Viceroy Resort on the northwest shore of the idyllic Eastern Caribbean
island of Anguilla.
With 35 acres and more than 3,200 feet of beach frontage Viceroy sprawls across
two stunning award winning beaches - Meads Bay and Barnes Bay. Built by Hawaii
based architectural firm Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, the design blends modern
hospitality with Caribbean warmth and sophisticated luxury.
The architectural styling with its high glass walls, allowing the natural light to flood in,
is reminiscent of some of the most bold contemporary properties to be found from
Miami to Dubai to Singapore.
Throughout this plush Anguillan resort, modern architectural forms interplay seamlessly
with the natural environment, with subtle echoes of Frank Lloyd Wright ‘barely-there’
architectural style. The style throughout the resort is both subtle and restrained, bold
colours are replaced by shades of yellow, gold, pink and brown, all shades reflective
of the island’s surrounding.
The reception area alone presents visitors with an entrance not too dissimilar to that
of a modern art museum. The furniture is low-slung (dark leather in public areas, soft
beige in rooms), chairs are of woven jute and bent wood, with lots of driftwood
displayed.

Each Bedroom has been decorated to an
impeccable standard with exceptional
finishes and neutral colour schemes.
The resort’s 166 rooms, comprised of private ocean front blufftop villas, beachfront suites and elegant garden rooms, have been positioned at the nexus of
both beaches, each decorated to an impeccable standard with exceptional
finishes and neutral colour schemes. All suites are spacious with stone floors,
lavishly marble heavy with neutral tones accentuated by a stylish mix of furniture
and sculptures. The styling incorporates highly grained woods, elements suggestive of coral, shell and gemstones.
These sophisticated, contemporary custom-designed interiors, furnishings and
accessories are the work of interior designer Kelly Wearstler whose use of bold art
and sculptures merges with modern contours of the furnishings and architecture
perfectly.
Throughout the resort Wearstler has mixed organic elements such as driftwood
lamps, petrified wood tables, rattan, travertine marble floors, and beaded
artwork from Africa that offer a welcomed earthy contrast to the more
geometric lines of the Resort. The interior design, architecture and location ‘tick’
