Since J.Lo, 42, began
stepping out with Casper Smart, 24,
in the fall, the boyish back-up dancer
has transformed before our eyes. Gone
are the tank tees, trucker hats and baggy hip-hop jeans — at least for the moment. The smooth operator squiring
J.Lo around New York City in late January sported leather jackets, designer
scarves, ever-present sunglasses —
and a gold Rolex worth $32,000. J.Lo’s
lavish gifts even include $7,100 diamond-stud earrings from jeweler to
the stars Neil Lane.
Just an Average Guy
Like most women in their 40s, stylesetter J.Lo has a strong aesthetic and
a clear idea of how she likes her men to
look. She’s pushed her sartorial choices on exes from Chris Judd and Ben
Affleck to Marc Anthony. But Casper,
who just a few years ago was an ordinary high school jock known as Beau
in Mission Viejo, Calif., may be the
most drastic case yet. “He was an average kid, nothing really stood out,” a
former coach tells Life & Style. “We sat
in stunned amazement that this guy
is dating J.Lo. It’s funny, but good for
him!” It’s easy to see how Casper, a former Chili’s employee, would warm to
the luxurious lifestyle (and a reported

rather than about

the relationship
emotionally.” If
J.Lo really wants

last, she may need
