Power+Plus Female and Bull Sale. We truly hope you will make plans to be

high quality lineup.
Preparing for this sale has been challenging. As many of you, we have
had an immense amount of moisture and harsh weather over the last
several months. As you all are well aware, this makes caring for livestock
more tiring and difficult. Although, as we reflect over the past few years of
drought, we are reminded of a quote a very wise and successful rancher
said. He stated, “You can make more money on accident when it is wet
than you can on purpose when it is dry.” I believe this statement to be true
for any rancher or farmer in western Oklahoma.

This offering is diverse and holds a great deal of good opportunities if you are a seedstock breeder, commercial cowman or
composite producer. Few sale offerings can offer this kind of history, lineage and concentration of great cows in the first three
and four generations. Consistency and efficiency in the beef business today are of increasing importance, and these cattle fit

This year’s Power Plus Sale sees the implementation of the Red Angus seedstock. Duff Cattle Company has began to generate
a unique registered red pedigree, built with the foundation of the important black cow families within this program. From herd
bull prospects and unique pedigreed red bred heifers to the first embryo calves produced from red bulls on some of the best
black donors at Power Plus, there is a lot to study and see. We are excited about the creation of these red hided cattle, based
on the good black building blocks behind them.

• One of the most exciting females to sell in some time at Duff Cattle Co. is 9152, Lot 1. She is backed by some of the most powerful cow families to come out of this program. Her maternal dam
and granddam were both leading donors. Her granddam 753L,
sired by Hercules, was a top seller in a past sale to ZWT Ranch.
Her dam, 651, is a daughter of New Look that has produced high
sellers and top producers here as well as in other leading programs. 9152 is double bred 814G, to highlight another one of the
“greats” in this pedigree.
• Most exciting is that 9152’s production record can be felt through
this 2016 offering. Lot 102, Duff Goose 420, in the Angus bull division, is out of a daughter of 9152, Duff Blackcap 1082. To top
that off, 9152 is the dam of the leading registered bred heifer, Lot
37, sired by Duff Carry On. Both of these featured lots are some
of the best individuals to ever be offered in a Power Plus lineup.

• Lot 2 is another one of the exciting registered Angus females to
start off this powerful offering. She is a daughter of the increasingly important Basic Instinct, whose semen is hard to come by.
The last of his semen to sell at auction was in 2014 at an average
of $140 per unit. Very little exists. Missing Link daughters and
granddaughters are some of the best producing females in the
business.
• This is another “no-miss” cow family. The Merle family has generated a great deal here and in other leading outfits. Merle 002, the
granddam of Lot 2, produced the top selling bull at Duff Cattle
Co. in 2005. 002 was herself the top selling cow in the 2006
Power Plus Sale to Todd Fair of California. This is a cow family
that you can build a program around.

• 0538 (Lot 4) is another phenotypically exciting female that is more
than stacked with great cows on her bottom side. She, like Lot 2,
comes from the Merle family. The granddam of 0538, Merle 319,
was a leading donor here. There are more than five or six donor
dams that line the very bottom side of this pedigree, and these
same genetics can be found in other leading Angus and composite programs across the country.
• Lot 4 is exciting to look at. She is extra long fronted, great lined
and has tons of rib shape. This is a donor female that could headline any program.
• The Carry On progeny are beginning to emerge. The uniqueness
and value in this pedigree and the calf she is carrying cannot be
found in other program. Duff Carry On is sired by PBC 707 1M
F0203, one of the breed changers that was born in 1974. F0203

Juanada 927K, who is 16 years of age and still going strong.

Duff program.
• 191’s mating to Carry On lines up 927K and is a half brother/half
sister mating. This mating and blend of genetics is the same way
that Duff E Blast was produced, lining up 814G.
• 191 will be on video. She is one of the most impressive cows in the
sale and is a powerhouse when it comes to body and dimension.

ABOUT ABERDEEN PLUS™
Low Birth, Low Maintenance, Forage Efficient Cattle
After many sleepless nights over the last 20-plus years of using multiple registered Angus sires, I finally came
to the realization that there had to be a better way to calve heifers. Just like many of you, in order to minimize the loss of baby calves out of first-calf heifers, I lived with them. I would move them in close to the barn
and check them round the clock night and day and be plum worn out by the time calving season was over.
Four years ago, I finally decided there had to be a better solution to this madness. So I began a search for
the best low maintenance, easy calving Angus genetics available to use on my virgin heifers. After countless hours and many miles, we came across some quality Lowline Angus genetics that were able to complement our current Angus genetics.
Over the last four years, the result has been very satisfying. Here at Power Plus, we have calved over 600
head of virgin heifers bred to Lowline Angus bulls. Additionally, we have supplied hundreds of straws of
semen, and we also leased out numerous Lowline Angus bulls to several of our long-time commercial customers in order to test the results over a larger number of cattle in multiple states.
We no longer bring our heifers up close to the barn to calve them; they stay out on grass just like the cows
during calving. We only check them once a day to tag babies. Birth complications have been minimal, as
the birth weights have ranged from 50 to 69 pounds. The calves are vigorous and grow very well. The two
lines of Angus genetics are so distantly related, when mated together the result has added hybrid vigor.
Both the Lowline Angus and American Angus breed have origins in eastern Scotland, in the counties of Aberdeen and Angus, where it was developed from the native black hornless cattle. Deep in the Scottish glens,
Angus cattle had been developed for over 150 years, father passing to son genetics that were sustainable,
free of lethal genes and designed to thrive on grass and produce consistently desirable carcasses.
Australian Lowline Angus Cattle were more less preserved in their original, foundational stature in order to
safeguard their prepotency and purity as low birth, low maintenance, sustainable Angus cattle.
We have harvested over 1000 head of the Aberdeen Plus™ calves thus far. They have finished on 30% less
feed and in considerably less days while also achieving a high percentage of Choice and Prime. I believe
that incorporating the two different Angus genetic lines has much to offer today’s progressive cattleman who
is in search of optimal efficiency and sustainability.
