2014
We skipped the winter update newsletter and
will continue to do so in the future unless there
is enough new material to warrant a second
newsletter.
We are now in the dreaded “hurricane season”
and once again are hopeful that this season will
be a repeat of the last number of seasons and
will be a mild one. As you know from previous
newsletters, we are now in our busiest time of year
and the resort has enjoyed very high occupancies
in both June and July.
For those that have not visited the resort since
December 2013 you will not have seen the
newly repaved parking lot. It was time for your
Association to incur this expense (approximately
$60,000) and many owners have commented on
the improvement it makes when you first arrive at
the Resort. No other major projects were approved
by the Board but repair and replacement of air
conditioning units that service our public areas
have occupied the Board’s agendas. These units,
depending on size, range from $7000 to $11,000,
and generally last five to six years in the harsh
oceanfront environment.
We continue to receive excellent ratings from
our owners and RCI guests. Any comments
that accompany the ratings are reviewed by
the appropriate Department Head the week the
comment is received and all appropriate action
is taken to address correctable issues on a timely
basis. In this regard, we do receive a number
comments under the category “Appliances”. To
address these comments, we have now completed
the replacement of all TVs to flat screens and all
stoves to flat tops (no more crooked burners).
The final phase of the kitchen renovation is to
complete the replacement of the kitchen cabinet
doors in the South Tower. (North Tower units
were completed in 2013) This project is expected
to be completed by December 2014.
Please review this newsletter regarding the
upcoming Board Member election and the
mailing of Proxy material sometime in October.
Your continued attention and response to these
mailings is appreciated by your Board. As has
been the practice of all the Islander Board of
Directors, regular meetings of the Board are open
to owners and your comments and suggestions
are welcome at the appropriate time during the
meeting. We are committed to continuing to make
the Islander a fun filled, memorable vacation
experience at reasonable assessment levels for
you and your family. Your past and continued
support is appreciated by both the Association
Management Team and the Board.

Welcome Summerbay
The Islander Beach Resort Condominium
Association, Inc. is excited to welcome
Summerbay Resort Partnership to the Islander.
Summerbay is a large, independent, Orlando based
company involved in timeshare development,
sales and marketing and property management.
In June 2014, Summerbay acquired 171 intervals
from the Association, signed a lease for the use
of the Coquina Room and committed to acquire
additional intervals from the Association as they
become available. Summerbay is offering a
vacation club concept (referred to as Exploria)
as an alternative to the traditional timeshare unit/
week deeded interval.
They will have a desk in the lobby in the same
location as the previous company we worked
with for three years in order to contact owners,
and our exchange and rental guests to introduce
them to this exciting, new vacation concept.
HAPPY TANNING
New Telephone
Dialing Code
Recently, the dial 7 + the room number access
code was changed to dial 6 + the room number.
The reason for this change was to deter outside
solicitors from cold calling units and disrupting
your vacation. Anyone dialing the 7 + room
number will be re-directed to the front desk and
they will have to ask for a resort resident by
name, not room number. The room access dialing
instruction was also eliminated from the recording
when you call the Islander. Please tell your family
members about this change. However, we urge
you to not to make this code change public.
When giving out contact information to nonfamily members please direct them to dial “0”
for the Front Desk and they will be transferred
to your room. We are hopeful this will reduce
unauthorized solicitation calls to your room.
When in search of that golden tan, don’t over do
it! Many holidays have been ruined by sunburn
and pain. By following these tips you’ll safety get
the tan you’re looking for.
1. Don’t sunbathe for long periods of time. You
can get burned on cloudy/overcast days.
2. The sun is hottest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
so wear protective clothing or sunscreen.
