According to legend, twelve animals
came to bid farewell to Amitabha
Buddha when he ascended to
Heaven. These animals in order of
their arrival were the Rat, the Ox,
the Tiger, the Rabbit, The Dragon,
the Snake, the Horse, the Sheep, the
Monkey, the Rooster, the Dog and
the Boar. To commemorate their
presence at his ascension to heaven,
Lord Buddha assigned one year to
each of the animals. Thus when
Chinese meet, merely disclosing
their animal year is sufficient for a
fellow Chinese to know his/her age.
The sixty year cycle comes about
by combining the twelve animals
with the five elements - Wood,
Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.

O
nce you know your own animal sign direction,
you can enhance your direction to bring you
good fortune luck. For example, if you are
born in the year of the Rat, then your home sector is
North. Thus, take a compass and check the North sector
of your house. Make sure the North of your house is not
located in the kitchen, toilet or storeroom as these will
make your luck turn bad. If your North sector is in the
living room, enhance it with a water feature. Make sure
the area is clean and neat. You can also place a bright
light there to activate it.
Alternatively, you can place your allies and secret
friend of your animal sign in your animal sign location.
Based on the twelve animal signs, each animal sign has
it own allies and secret friend. Your two allies and your
secret friend are the additional three animal signs besides
your own animal sign that can bring you good luck.
By placing them together in your animal sign
direction, they can bring you the luck of helpful people
to see you through any bouts of bad luck. Even better,
when you are going through a positive phase in life,
you will have many friends to help you fulfill your
dreams!
Each of the twelve animals also has certain
characteristics and attributes that at the first level of
astrological analysis are said to enjoy good and bad
years during the twelve year cycle, depending on their
intrinsic relationship with each other.
Thus, if they are in conflict with each other, then

ruled by the sign that is in conflict with them. Similarly,
