A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Parishioners,
Congratulations to those who received the Sacrament of
Confirmation!
This Saturday, Bishop Siegel and Bishop Goedert confirmed 134 young people. The
Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "For 'by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the
baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special
strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly
obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.'"
First Holy Communion
Next Saturday, our young people will be receiving their First Holy Communion. They will receive our Lord,
body, blood, soul and divinity, in the Most Holy Eucharist for the first time. Let us take their example of joy
and longing for this wonderful Sacrament.
Totus Tuus and Vacation Bible School
Please remember to sign up for our two summer programs, Vacation Bible School or Totus Tuus. Simply log
onto to our parish webpage or phone or stop by the parish Religious Education Office for more details.
May Almighty God bless you and keep you.
In Christ,
Fr. Thomas A. Milota
THANK YOU SSPP

CRS RICE BOWL UPDATE
As the last of the rice bowls continue to trickle in from our
parish families, we wanted to give you an update on this parish wide initiative. In past years the religious education students and some of our school students have participated in
CRS Rice Bowl throughout lent.
This year through the Peace & Social Justice group we decided to try and make this a parish-wide Lenten event. With
the help and experience from the folks in the religious education office as well as Karen Meskill our school principal and
the many volunteers that either passed out the bowls or
helped collect the bowls, we are pleased to announce that we
have collected nearly $6,700.00.
Thank you one and all! If you still have a rice bowl to turn in
please drop it off at the parish office before the end of April.
We will be forwarding the funds in early May so they may be
put to use by Catholic Relief Services. Thank you all for your
generosity!
Men’s Evening of Recollection
“Whoever follows after Christ, the perfect man,
becomes himself more of a man”
(Gaudium et Spes 41)
We will host a Men’s Evening of Recollection
Wednesday, April 27th, from 7:30 to 9:15 PM in the
Church. The evening includes two meditations and time
for quiet prayer followed by Benediction. We conclude
with a practical talk and get together. A priest of Opus
Dei will offer the meditations and be available for
Confession. All men from the area are invited to attend.
For more information, please call the Parish Office at
630-355-1081.

resource.
Reasons for wanting to be on the School Board:
I want to be a voice for our families through the lens of an educator. I will help make fiscally responsible decisions that encourage technological advancements, embrace Catholic identity, foster staff development for teachers and align our curriculum to standards so that our school remains a competitive option in Naperville.

children have been students, I have coached girls’ basketball for eight

I believe I have insights I could share with the board from many different perspectives as a parent, alum, parishioner and teacher. I know enrollment has been a focus recently, and I would love to help make a difference for the
future of the school. I have fresh energy and a strong desire to be a part of making Ss. Peter and Paul even
stronger!

I can bring the following unique talents to the School Board:
I have experience working on a board as I was a member of our Home Owners’ Association Board and have held
positions on various committees. More importantly, I’ve 15 years’ experience in education. I understand how
schools, students, faculty, curriculum and budgets all mesh together to provide positive learning opportunities.
Reasons for wanting to be on the School Board:
Our school is a great place and I want to see how we can do more. I want this opportunity to share my knowledge
on important issues. I also want others’ ideas on what they think we need and see how we can better meet the
needs of our students.
LUKE’S GOSPEL CORNER
Judas' betrayal inaugurates Jesus' glorification, not merely His passion, and it is through Jesus’ passion
and resurrection that He glorifies that Father. It was for "this hour" that Jesus came into the
world. Through Jesus' death and resurrection He is lifted up and reunited to the Father. Through Jesus'
death and resurrection the love of God is made manifest to the world most perfectly, and Jesus once
more takes His place at the right hand of the Father in glory.
Today's Gospel from John 13:31-35, is taken from Jesus’ discourse to His disciples following the Last Supper in the Garden of
Gethsemane. In the Last Supper, Jesus institutes a new covenant with God’s people rooted in sacrificial love. Here in the
Garden He tells them, "My children, I give you a new commandment, love one another as I have loved you." Almost immediately after uttering these words, Jesus demonstrates how much He loves us through His passion and death. Jesus has reconciled us with the Father through the sacrifice of the cross.
Jesus tells the disciples, "This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” As Jesus loved
us without limits and laid down His life for our sake, we as Christians are called to lay down our lives for the sake of others.
We see this love of neighbor lived out in the early Church. Pope Clement, a convert of St. Peter, remarked, "Let everyone be
subject to his neighbor. . . Let the rich man provide for the wants of the poor; and let the poor man bless God, because He
hath given him one by whom his needs may be supplied." Awed by the love of Christians, pagans of the first centuries exclaimed, "See how these Christians love one another!"
The history of the Church is resplendent with such examples of selfless love. It was the Church who founded the first
schools, hospitals, and orphanages in Europe and America to serve the underserved. St. Frances Cabrini built hospitals in
Chicago, New York, and elsewhere to care for immigrants who had no other place to turn. Just last Sunday, our fellow parishioners, as members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, collected items to serve the poor.
This selfless love of neighbor, lived out in the joy of Christ's resurrection with supernatural hope, drew a divided pagan culture to Christ and to His Church, and this same radical love and joy can draw our divided world to Christ and to His Church as
well, for beauty attracts! Selflessness draws attention to eternity and witnesses to the words of St. Matthew, “For what is a
man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Let us love one another, as Christ has loved us. Let it
permeate our homes and our places of work. Let us bring the joy of Christ to those in need.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE HAPPENINGS

new commandment: love one another….This
is how all will know that you are my disciples,

Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to
grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who
are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed
Frederic Ozanam, and its patron, Saint Vincent de Paul.

PRAYER INTENTIONS
PRAY FOR THE SICK
PRAYING FOR THE SICK AND DECEASED
Please remember in your prayers, the following people who are seriously
ill and others who are suffering with long-term or terminal illnesses:
Please note that if you wish to have a family member or friend’s name
included with the petition for the sick which is read at weekend Masses,
you must call the parish office by 9 AM on Friday. Your loved one’s
name will automatically be added into the sick list in the bulletin the
following weekend. If you add a loved one’s name to the petition when you
come to Mass, please follow up with a phone call to the parish office on
Monday so the name may be included with the sick list in the bulletin.
In the interest of keeping our sick list current, the first weekend in May
we will remove names put on prior to April 1st, unless we hear from
you or a family member that you wish a name to remain on the list.
Call the Office, 630-355-1081, to add, remove or keep a name on the sick
list. Any names received after 9 AM on Friday will be included in the
following weekend’s prayers.
Deceased loved ones who are buried from Saints Peter and Paul Parish
are automatically named in the bulletin and in the petition read at weekend
Masses. Other recently deceased loved ones may be added to the petitions
by calling the parish office by 9 AM on Friday.

Host Family Program
Host a player for the summer
(late May-late August)
Unique opportunity to spend the summer with an up and coming baseball star!
The Dupage Drones are seeking local families, couples, and individuals willing to open their homes to host a
player or players for the 2016 season. The Host Family program is vital to the success of the team and offers
players a home away from home during the season by matching them with local families.
Those who participate in the Host Family program receive many great benefits including season tickets for
each member of the immediate household, a meet and greet party with the players and other host families
prior to the start of the season, a discount in the Drones Team Store, and other in-season perks.
To join the host family program or for more information, contact the Drones at [email protected]
Players may be assigned housing as early as the first week of May. Pending the length of the postseason,
players may be in homes as late as mid-August.
Many benefits come from housing a player, whether it is the opportunity to impact a young man’s future or
allowing that same young man be a positive role model to your children or possibly getting to know a future
Major League Baseball star, your involvement in this program is vital to our team’s success! As a “Thank
you!” for housing these players over the course of the season you will be qualified to receive the following:

Season tickets for your household.

20% discount on Drones apparel.

Guaranteed Promo Items.

Featured Spotlight in local media as well as a Drones Home
Game.
