Sandpiper’s Cove Luncheon
Guest Speaker: Rick Kaiser UDT-SEAL Museum
Over 60 Palm Beach Council Navy Leaguers turned out for a fun and delicious lunch
at the beautiful Sandpiper’s Cove Restaurant in North Palm Beach.
We were joined by honored guests Rick Kaiser and
Ken Corona; both retired Navy SEALs and now
Executive Director and Ass’t Director of the
National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum and Memorial
in Fort Pierce.
Rick gave a very informative talk on the mission of
the UDT-SEAL facility and then answered every
question that was posed during a spirited Q&A.
Rick and Ken then patiently stood for photos with
many of our members while continuing to address
additional questions.
The staff at the club under the leadership of Dolores Schlick and including wait
staffers Daniel and Belinda supported the luncheon with outstanding service in the
beautiful waterfront dining room. The Sandpiper’s Cove club is becoming a favorite
venue for many of our members.
Prior to the dinner and speeches, Council President Jack Hanscom gathered all
attending Officers, Directors and Appointees for the coming year to assemble for a
photograph and swearing in by our guest of honor Rick Kaiser.
Rick began his talk with a thank-you to two
of our council members, Rebecca Williams
and Ken Lee, who serve on the Advisory
Board for the UDT-SEAL Museum.
Rebecca is also Chairman of an upcoming
Navy SEAL Tribute Dinner to raise funds
for the important family support missions
of the UDT-SEAL Museum and the Navy
SEAL Foundation in Virginia Beach.
After the speeches and accolades council
member Chuck Stark led the activity to award
6 or 7 door prizes, each of which was a
souvenir or memento from the retail store at
the UDT-SEAL Museum. Thanks to Rick &
Ken for bringing these items.
Council President Jack Hanscom presented
Rick Kaiser and Ken Corona with a couple of
fine Corona cigars, and the council also
presented the pair with a Clock/Compass set
in a wooden box, with our council challenge
coin affixed and the box inscribed, “In
Appreciation - to Rick Kaiser and Ken Corona
– honored guests of the Palm Beach Council
14 January 2015.”

with Patricia Reybold.
And our council accountant Kathy Gellis joined
us for lunch, hosted by Treasurer Eric
Rydstrom; and she quickly pitched in to help
Ken Lee get the computer system up and
running. Kathy is always doing things to help
us out.
We had a terrific turnout of new members who
joined in the past few months as well as some
long-time members who haven’t been able to attend for a while. And they all had a
great time, as shown in the following photos ……. and thanks to our photographers

Council President Jack Hanscom announced that a group field day would be put
together to visit the UDT-SEAL Museum and Memorial, probably in August.
He can use some help in organizing that – give him a call to lend a hand.
A flyer was placed at each table today encouraging members to become Award
Sponsors in the coming year, and Merry O’Donnell was saluted for kicking off the 2015
Awards Program with a $500 donation. Please join her and your council shipmates –
become an Award Sponsor!
