A Grand Day Out
■■■■ A DECEMBER EVENING of go-karting on ice in Monaco
laid on by BWA Yachting was followed with more speed-fueled
antics on the slopes at Valberg in January, again courtesy of
BWA and its offices in Monaco, France and Corsica along
with its co-sponsors.
Jean Marc Bernard Realis
Yacht teams consisting of a snowboarder, a skier and a snowshoer were invited to compete in the first Annual BWA Snow Cup.
Limo’ed directly from their ports to the snow (thanks, VIP Limousines), kitted out with ski passes (cheers to Valberg Ski Resort and
ESF) and with state-of-the-art equipment from Monaco Marine,
captain and crew were wined and dined in splendid mountain sunshine courtesy of BWA.
Thirteen teams tumbled, whizzed or whooshed (some head first)
down the slopes in a bid to claim the BWA Snow Cup by fair means
or foul (snowshoe runners, we know who you are!). Third position
on the podium went to Team Lioncub, an entirely family affair of
brother, sister and fiancé – Captains Tom, Laurel and Lorian – who
won tickets to a night of ice karting in Monaco. Team M/Y Lionheart walked away with second and an invitation for dinner at Maya
Bay sponsored by Only Yacht. Team M/Y Zenobia was declared
the 2011 BWA Snow Cup winner and was treated to a snowmobile
expedition at the end of the day.
