Tapflo quality
The Tapflo pump is usually an essential part in the process with hazardous fluids. We always strive to supply the safest
and most environmental friendly solution for these fluids. As a part of our safety thinking, we are
in the frontline following important standards, guidelines and directives. Many of our products
comply with the EC ATEX directive for equipment in explosion hazardous environments. All our
pumps are of course CE marked and followed by our comprehensive instruction manuals. Tapflo
is an ISO 9001:2001 certified company. The EHEDG certification of our aseptic diaphragm pump
was achieved in 2009
The history of Tapflo
Tapflo was founded in Kungälv (north of Gothenburg), Sweden 1985 and has since then been working with design and
manufacture of air operated diaphragm pumps. The product range has grown from a few plastic models, to complete
PE & PTFE, metal and sanitary series and lately also with complete ranges of centrifugal pumps. Tapflo has now established sales offices in 20 countries and independent distributors in another 30 countries - spare parts and pumps are
available worldwide.
Since 2012 Tapflo is the official and exclusive partner of Gruppo Aturia.
Aturia began to operate in the Centrifugal Pumps sector in 1927 and became a leader in the
Submersible Electric Pumps field by patenting the Submersible Motor in 1946. In 1960 it extended its
markets to countries in the Mediterranean, America and Asia. Over time Aturia acquired four top Italian
companies: Rotos (1990), Marelli (1990), Audoli & Bertola (2003) and Aris Chiappa (2009).
Rotos was set up in 1919 and manufactured electrical motors, monobloc pumps, multistage pumps
and vertical pumps. In 1962 it entered French group GUINARD and became a development centre for
multistage pumps. Based on this experience, it started to produce pumps for the process industry (ISO
2858 and API 610). In 2005 it started to produce magnetic drive pumps in its plant based in glio di Po.
Founded in 1891, it began to manufacture electrical motors and centrifugal pumps in 1898.
The company was acquired by Aturia together with Rotos in 1990. Thanks to this acquisition, Gruppo
Aturia extended its range of products considerably by including GIEM and ITEM’s pumps (monobloc
pumps, split case pumps and large-capacity pumps).
The company started producing vertical pumps in 1890 and over the years it strengthened its presence
on the market in terms of applications for the heavy industry (steel plants, cooling systems, power plants
and the marine sector). Gruppo Aturia acquired Audoli & Bertola in 2003, thus improving its presence
in the industrial sector. Its office in Turin is currently a centre of excellence for fire-fighting systems
(NFPA20, FM).
G. Chiappa Fonderie was established in Turin in 1921 as a steel plant and started to manufacture
bronze, aluminium and cast iron casts. In 1940 it began to produce vertical pumps.
For over forty years, in partnership with the world’s top gas turbine manufacturers, it has been developing
pumps specifically designed for lubrication services.

Certified Quality System/Quality Control
Gruppo Aturia’s commitment to improve Quality has
been acknowledged by the Lloyd’s Register Group with
the “Quality System” certification.
The pumps’ performance is checked in the Testing Room.
The wide range of NC machines allows operators to
easily achieve the precision requested to process the
components.
The IT management system and the collection of
processing data also allows to trace products at every
stage of the process.
A flexible and integrated cycle: from engineering to final testing
The product cycle begins in the ”Engineering Department”, where its technicians collect all inputs directly from the other
managers. Starting from a large data base including more than one thousand hydraulics, Aturia can find always the
best solution. Thanks to its long experience, Gruppo Aturia can today design pumps for special fluids with power up to
1000 kW, pressure up to 150 bar, low NPSH, with and without seal and temperature up to 500°C.
To meet market needs, which require deliveries in shorter and shorter times, Gruppo Aturia invests in a large stock of
components.
The quick assembly of components assures a prompt delivery of the pump.
Furthermore the large availability of stocked components guarantees a timely
supply of any spare part required.
At the end of the production
cycle, the pump can be painted according to Company
standards or to Customer’s

Submersible
SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS
The installation of submersible electric pumps,
for more than 60 years, has allowed Gruppo
Aturia to acquire countless applied experiences
in practically all fields in which these pumps are
required. Submersible pumps, simply born to lift
well water, have first replaced deep well vertical
pumps. Through the use of different materials such
as bronze, cast stainless steel and Duplex they
are now successfully used in heavy applications
where a high reliability is required, such as Mine,
Off-Shore, Industry, Navy. The installation of
submersible pumps in suitable vertical or horizontal
cylindrical tanks allows silent- operating pressure
lifting systems in a more reduced space compared
to the traditional solutions with surface pumps.
In order to offer customers hydraulic characteristics
with best efficiency, the wide range of capacities
and heads is covered by over five hundred types
of submersible pumpsets.
In the last years, adopting a new design, Aturia
has introduced a range of motors suitable for hot
waters.

SURFACE APPLICATIONS
Gruppo Aturia offers a wide range of surface pumps
answering to the needs of manifold and important
productive fields. Monobloc pumps are used in
building such as water distribution systems, heating, air
conditioning.
Single stage and split case pumps are used in pumping
stations, Fire-Fighting service and industry for clean
water when large flows and limited heads are required.
Multistage pumps are used in pumping stations, as well
as for artificial snowing, for reverse osmosis and for more
sophisticated duties such as boiler feed. Vertical pumps
are used in recirculation systems for industrial water, in
power plants,in steel mills, in drainage systems and in
fish farming installations.

PROCESS APPLICATIONS
ROTOS, thanks to the long experience gained working in the
“Guinard Group”, operates in fields characterized by extremely heavy duties, requiring high-tech pumps according to
international standards foreseen for such applications. Pumps
manufactured in compliance with API 610, ISO 2858 and
ISO 5199 standards find their natural application in the most
important chemical and petrochemical installation as well
as in oil refineries. Magnetic Drive pumps, manufactured in
compliance with API 685 and ISO 2858 standards where
the utmost reliability and safety is required when pumping
dangerous chemical (inflammable, toxic) products. “Barrel
pump” versions are studied for an efficient pumping of liquified gases and volatile liquids. Other special fields such as
geothermy, reverse osmosis, off-shore, cryogenic fluids and so
on, will find in the ROTOS range the suitable pump to satisfy
any particular application need.

PROCESS PUMPS API 610
These “heavy duty” type centrifugal pumps are designed for high
efficiency industrial services under extreme temperature ranging
from -100°C up to +500°C. These pumps provide the answer
to a wide variety of pumping problems from the most difficult
liquefied gases at low temperatures, to the similarly difficult conditions of service of the petroleum industry where liquids have to
be pumped at temperatures well in excess of their ignition point.
Between these two extreme cases, there is an important range
of liquid where the pumping temperature is close to the boiling
point causing dangerous hydraulic reactions at the impeller eye,
the effects of which could not be withstood by a standard pump.
These pumps are the result of long practical experience gained
in actual operation on these conditions over many years in main
industrial installations.Rugged design together with the highest
quality modern production techniques make these pumps suitable
for heavy duty pumping.

EASY MAINTENANCE
QUICK INSPECTION
The use of a spacer type coupling allows dismantling
of the pump without disconnecting the casing from the
base or from the piping. Easy acces to the seal. For
packing seal,the gland is in two parts, an arrangement wich permits replacement of the packing rings
without dismantling the pump. Corrosion of the rotating assambly is eliminatedbecause the shaft, impeller
key and screws are all made from stainless steel.
STANDARDIZATION OF COMPONENTS
For the wole range of these pumps, the number of
bearing houses, shafts and dtuffing boxes has been
standardized.This offers two advantages:
1° Spares facilityThe spares being common to several types of pumps, spares stock may be reduced to a
bare minimum.
2° Easy modificationShould the user wish to modify
the pump characteristics or the seal only the corresponding parts need to be ordered.

Water scooping machines able to lift big quantities of fluid at low heads. The performance curves show
the difference between these units and the centrifugal types of pumps, i.e. high brake horse power at low
capacities.
Taking into consideration what said above, it is important not to install gate valves, valves or other instruments
on the delivery pipe to avoid the decrease of capacity and the consequent increase of pump brake horse
power with motor overloading when the valves are partially or totally closed.
Field of application
The capacity to pump big quantities of liquid at low heads allows the application of these pumps in various
services. The most important are:
• Agriculture - irrigation of wide surfaces.
• Land reclamation - land reclamation and drainage of marsh land or areas subject to floods.
• Ecology - transfer or movement of big water quantities, anyhow treated or to be treated.
• Shipyards - dry docks pumping down.
They find also large application in the feeding of canals and transfer of fluvial or sea water. Capacities range
from 200 up to 30.000 m3/h against heads from 1 up to 8 meters at one stage, and up to 16 m at two stages.
Pump unit
The pump is composed by:
• Bowl.
• Column pipe.
• Discharge head with discharge elbow above or under
floor level, according to the requirements.
Bowl
The bowl is composed by:
• Suction bell.
• Propeller or blades mounted on the proper hub.
• Diffuser.
The propeller blades can rotate around their axis.
During mounting the blades can be positioned find locked
according to the required conditions of service. Pump sizes
over ”ELV 600” can be manufactured for blades adjustment
during pump running. This operation can be made manually
(by means of proper hand wheel) or automatically (by electric
actuator). This advantage is considerable on plants where the
capacity is subject to big variations.
Column pipe
The column pipe is composed by:
• Conveying pipe.
• Shaft.
• Shaft bearing retainer.
When handling clear or slightly loaded liquids, the guide
bearings in the column pipe are lubricated by the pumped
liquid; in case of other special liquids our technical department
will propose the proper solution.
Propeller pumps can be driven by:
• Directly coupled electric motor.
• Electric motor through reduction gear.
• Diesel engine through right angle gear box.
Discharage head
The discharge head is composed by:
• Support frame.
• Discharge elbow: under or above floor level.
• Motor stool.
• Flexible coupling.
• Axial thrust supporting unit, including grease or oil lubricated roller bearings:

With ”Audoli&Bertola” Division, Gruppo Aturia operates in the Fire-Fighting field as supplier
of water fire fighting packages fully in compliance with the European Standards (EN 12845 e
EN 12259-12) and the American Standards (NFPA 20). Audoli&Bertola technical skill allows
to easily operate in building and industrial fields and to meet the hardest specifications required
by refineries, petrochemical industries, off-shore, platform and on-shore plants.
Audoli&Bertola has developed a product range for explosion proof areas: a lot of packages
have been realized with diesel engines and gas engines suitable to operate in EExd IIBorC
Atex classification area.

These pumps have a two-part casing divided in a
horizontal plane through the shaft center line. They
are well suited to fire protection service where a water
supply is obtainable under a positive head.

Vertical shaft, turbine type centrifugal fire pumps
Vertical shaft, turbine type centrifugal fire pumps have submerged impellers
contained in a series-bowl assembly at the bottom of a vertical shaft. The design is similar to pumps used extensively for industrial and municipal service.
These pumps are FM Approved for discharging water from lakes, streams,
open sumps, drilled wells and other equivalent subsurface sources. Each pump
consists of a discharge head, motor stand, column pipe, line shaft, bowl assembly and suction strainer. For electric drive, FM Approved pumps must be
used with a vertical, electric motor. For internal-combustion-engine drive, FM
Approved pumps must be connected to the FM Approved engine through an
FM Approved right-angle gear drive.
