Summary of Pageant History…
Having selected Judee (Fisher) Hagen of The Dalles as the first Miss Rodeo Oregon in 1957, the organization has
continued over the years to be comprised of hardworking volunteers that help to ensure the success and
expansion of the organization and its programs. Information about the program in its early years is scarce,
but in recent years Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant, Inc. (MROP, Inc.) has taken great strides in becoming a
strong and successful youth oriented organization that is able to provide a program for Oregon horsewomen,
that encourages positive growth in strength of character and personality, healthy attitudes, self-fulfillment
and self-respect.
As Oregon’s “First Lady of Professional Rodeo,” Miss Rodeo Oregon will attend rodeos sanctioned by the
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), and will appear at community events and parades
throughout the State of Oregon and western United States. It is estimated that she will make 60
appearances and travel over 20,000 miles throughout her yearlong reign.
Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant, Inc. is organized and conducted to select the most qualified young Oregon
horsewoman to promote the sport of professional rodeo in Oregon and to represent the State of Oregon at
the annual Miss Rodeo America Pageant through an annual state pageant. Oregon towns and cities have
played a vital role in helping the organization maintain its goals with their wonderful hospitality and
generosity. Many of Oregon’s premier cities and towns have played host to the annual pageant such as
Pendleton, Vale, La Grande, Sisters, Roseburg, Hillsboro, Prineville and St. Paul.
Providing our titleholders with the tools they need to have a successful reign has always been important to
MROP, Inc. Throughout the history of the organization titleholders have received awards such as saddles,
trophy buckles, luggage, and chaps. In 2003, MROP, Inc. awarded their first educational scholarship in the
amount of $1000 to help titleholders in their future educational endeavors, and are currently giving a $1500
scholarship to contestants named Miss Rodeo Oregon and $500 to the first runner up in each pageant.
At the end of her year of reign, Miss Rodeo Oregon travels to Las Vegas, Nevada, to compete for the title of
Miss Rodeo America during a week-long competition against other state titleholders. In 1958 the first Miss
Rodeo Oregon was crowned Miss Rodeo America, however declined for personal reasons, since then we
have had numerous top-10 and top-5 finishers, and category award winners. It was not until 2011 when
Mackenzie Carr, 2011 Miss Rodeo Oregon was announced as 2012 Miss Rodeo America that December in
Las Vegas, NV.

Oregon
My name is Julie Drescher and I am honored to
be chosen as the 2015 Miss Rodeo Oregon. As Miss Rodeo
Oregon, I will be representing our great state, as well as
the sport of rodeo throughout the country.
In addition to traveling all over Oregon, I will be
flying across the United States, traveling over 30,000
miles. I will make numerous appearances at major
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA)
parades and rodeos, local schools, businesses, and civic
functions throughout the year.
At the conclusion of my reign in December, I will
compete for the coveted title of Miss Rodeo America
during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR)
held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Julie Drescher is the 23-year-old
daughter of Dan and Jodi Drescher of
St. Paul, Oregon. Her family consists
of two older sisters, and a younger
brother, along with a large extended
family. Born and raised in the small
town of St. Paul, Julie attended
Parochial School and High School in
the local district. Growing up, she
was always an active member of her
community. Julie participated in St.
Paul Parish activities, St. Paul
Booster club fundraisers, represented
her high school as an accomplished
three-sport athlete and was also a
princess on the 2011 St. Paul Rodeo
Court. After completing her
prerequisite credits at the University
of Oregon, she transferred to Western
Oregon University and completed a
Bachelor’s of Science in
Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus
in Education, Special Education, and
Communications. Julie is currently
taking graduate courses at Western
Oregon University in the field of
Special Education to eventually
become a Special Education teacher.
Additionally, Julie is also working as
a substitute teacher for the Silver
Falls School District. In her free time,
Julie enjoys hunting, fishing, riding
her horses, and hanging out with
friends and spending time with
family.
