28th Eastern Province Polemarch
Robert L. Jenkins, Jr. Esq.
Fall/Winter Edition
Brothers all, in the recent edition of the Kappa Journal our Grand Polemarch has laid down his Six Point Plan. Our Province Polemarch
Robert L Jenkins, Jr., Esq. has been vigilant in ensuring that the Eastern Province is in compliance with his plan. As the Eastern
Province we have the awesome responsibility to be accountable one to another to align our initiatives in support of his plan. Therein, I
have been working diligently with many of your Province Committee Chairman and Chapter Polemarchs to customize new and
innovative initiatives that will further differentiate Kappa form other organizations while fostering a stronger Bond amongst our
Undergraduate and Alumni Chapters.
During our recent Undergraduate Leadership Conference, I distributed Student Financial Aid packets to attendees for distribution to
their respective chapters, in an effort to maintain on campus sustainability. As I continue to visit chapters throughout the province, it is
apparent that we have an opportunity to transcend our Guide Right Program to include our Undergraduates. Therein, I am working
with several committee chairman to develop a mobile app that will offer online interactive webinars with diverse Achievers both in
fraternal and subsequent life. This will afford our undergraduates direct access with accomplished professionals as they pursue their
chosen field of endeavor.
Lastly, be on the lookout for the Senior Province Vice Polemarchs Newsletter entitled “RealTalk.” The publication will provide various
updates regarding Province activities and initiatives, inspiring stories of acts of Brotherhood within Kappa, sharing of successful fundraising ideas, and updates
regarding scholarships and internships available to our membership

Eastern Province 2015 C. Roger Wilson Leadership Conference
This year, with the support of the Province Polemarch and Board of Directors, the committee hoped to provide a leadership conference grounded in a lens
of collaboration and innovation. This approach would provide the type of training that would engage members in outcome driven innovation; we called this
enhanced conference CRWLC. Much like how the TEDX events that have revolutionized the way people exchange information that supports leadership
development, The 2015 CRWLC used modern instructional and technological techniques to train our members for leadership in a changing world. The
CRWLC program was designed to help chapters and individual brothers spark conversations and connections through outcome driven innovation
experiences.
The general session presenters provided brothers with the required national CRWLC. Presentation of course with the flag ship s twist. Our Province
Polemarch, Brother Robert Jenkins, Esq. kicked off the conference with a rousing call to action around leadership development and supporting collaborative
and innovative approaches. Next, Brother Freddie Colston provided a presentation on Parliamentary Procedure using Innovative Collaboration Tools like
conference and web calls. Chairman Marvin Carr provided a highly interactive session that took the members through several 21st Century Innovation
tools while putting into context the impact that using these tools may have on inner and external chapter collaboration.
During the afternoon session on day 1, Past Province Polemarch Cornelius "Neil" Hudgins excited the members with an announcement that the fraternity
was doubling down and recommitting itself to supporting the St. Jude s Children s Research Hospital. He asked for chapters to dedicate themselves to
helping the fraternity to reach its fundraising goals and to submit the names of a chapter rep responsible for their St. Jude’s work.
A modern and colorful interpretation of the "4 points of the diamond" was delivered by region II board member Paul Robinson. He provided members
with ways to "Keep things in Perspective: God, Family, Education & Fraternity" by giving straight forward examples of the good, the bad and the ugly
truthful balance act that is the life of a kappa man. Later, Marcel Anderson led the membership in an insightful presentation about the kappa brand and
ways to use it to strengthen our membership and attract new member. To close out the required national presentations, Brother Dr. Rodney Perkins
educated us about the new collaboration with the National Institutes of Health Safe Sleep Fatherhood Outreach Initiative and the Guide right presentation
was given by brother Tony Harrison.
The Breakout sessions wowed us as well and the
leading them were inspiring and informative. Lastly, several large group activities provided
young and seasoned brothers with the space to collaborate on ways to improve the relationship between the young and the experienced members of our
province. They also were able to give clarity what the expectations of a new intake process would bring and how each and every member could and should
support its success.
