Things seem to be going pretty well with the drop-off
and pick up areas. Our main concern is the safety of our
students each and every day. We would like for you to
review the following with regards to this situation.
Morning Drop-off
1. Do not leave your car in this area unattended.
2. As you pull into the drop-off area, please pull as far
forward in this area as possible.
3. When you arrive in the morning, please be sure that
your students depart from your vehicle as quickly as
possible.
Afternoon Pick-Up
1. Do not leave your car in this area unattended.
2. As you line up in the pick-up area, please pull as far
forward as possible.
3. As cars pull out, please pull forward upon the direction
of the parking staff.
4. PLEASE encourage your student, if he or she is
being picked up, to depart the building as quickly
as possible so that we can clear this area safely
and efficiently.
CASA 5k Run
On August 20 come out and make Lecanto Rule AGAIN at
the Fourth Annual Colors for CASA Two Mile Walk/Run
or the 5K Time Trial. Cost is $7.00. You can register on
line at Run Sign Up or stop by and see Ms. Bullock for a
registration form or email Ms. Bullock at bullockf@citrus.
k12.fl.us for a form. The 5K begins at 7:45 a.m. and the
2-mile begins at 7:58.
Parents and students,
Don’t forget to check out the student online newspaper,
the Panther Prowl, at LHSPantherProwl.com! You will
find daily updates regarding news and events going on at
Lecanto High School!
Please be sure that you watch for students crossing
through these areas as they arrive to/leave school.
With the above in mind, we believe this will make our
arrivals and departures, safer and more efficient.
Thank you for your cooperation and if we can be of
assistance, please let us know.
The Citrus County Schools Transportation Department
needs Bus Operators. This is an opportunity to earn
income and still be home with your children when school
is not in session. We are looking for safe drivers who care
about children. We provide training and testing to receive
a commercial driver’s license. If you are interested,
please contact the Transportation Business office at
352-726-1931 and/or complete a Substitute Bus Operator
application on line at www.citrus.k12.fl.us.
Parents/Guardians, Please remember that when you are
picking up students for early dismissal, you will need to
bring a Driver’s License, or other Government Photo ID
for verification.
In an effort to reduce duplication, DOE will no longer
be producing the School Public Accountability Reports
(covering Elementary and Secondary Education Act
Requirements for State and LEA Annual Report Cards) in
a printed version. Instead, the DOE will post these reports
online before the end of September 2016. These reports
can be viewed at http://doeweb-prd.doe.state.fl.us/eds/
nclbspar/index.cfm. Our department will continue to
provide the links on our department’s web page if you
choose to use that one in your notification to parents/
guardians (http://www.citrus.k12.fl.us/departments/
research_&_accountability/default.htm).
Lecanto High School, in accordance with Florida High
School Athletic Association policy, has a very informative
website for all sports on C2CSchools.com. On this
website, simply search for Lecanto High School and our
website will open. You can subscribe to individual sports,
see what events are occurring this week or download
important information. We will be uploading our “Week
in Brief” to the website. This is a weekly snapshot of all
activities, clubs, organizations, sports, etc. that have
meetings, contests or fundraising events planned. We
will also have our future newsletters and school forms
uploaded.
Take some time to check out Lecanto High School on

Senior News:
ACT and SAT – Students who plan to attend a
four-year college must take either the ACT or the
SAT. Students are encouraged to take both tests.
Students should check the admissions requirements
of prospective colleges to determine which test
is preferred. BE SURE TO TAKE TESTS EARLY
ENOUGH TO MEET COLLEGE ADMISSIONS OR
SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES. Four to five weeks
are usually required for test results to be processed
and mailed to colleges. Also, be sure to include the
Lecanto High School code, 100-944, so that scores
can be included on your transcript. If you don’t
include the LHS code, your scores will not be sent
to LHS. NOTE: The ACT and SAT are offered at
Lecanto High School.
If you plan on using an old cap and gown, you are still
responsible for the $40.00 graduation fee, which will
cover the expenses of the diploma cover, tassel, and other
costs of graduation. This fee is due by April 15, 2017 to
Mr. Allan in the front office.
If you purchased a cap and gown through Herff Jones
that fee already covers all graduation costs, so you will
not owe any monies to LHS. If you have not purchased
a cap and gown yet, see Ms. Fagan in the front office
for a form. You must mail this in yourself. You can also
purchase online at Herffjonesstpete.com.

SUBJECT:
Release of the 2014-15 ESEA SPARs
The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires that school districts provide parents with an
annual school status report to include but not limited to the following: student achievement, accountability and
teacher quality indicators. Due to the transition to the new Florida Standards Assessments and informational
baseline school grades, the report could not be produced until after release of these data. To assist Florida
school districts in preparing these reports, known as the School Public Accountability Reports (SPARs), the
Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has posted reports containing data for the required indicators at
http://doeweb-prd.doe.state.fl.us/eds/nclbspar/index.cfm. These reports contain indicators required via the
ESEA Waiver.
The following list provides the indicators that are required for the annual public disclosure reports under ESEA
provisions, as well as additional indicators providing data of interest on the status of Florida’s public schools.
Districts may add any additional indicators they deem relevant such as attendance, retentions, school funding,
etc.
