T HE S HOW MUS T GO ON AWARD S
2015 RECIPIENT: Michael Wennberg
Imperial Theatre will be hosting its fourth annual The Show Must Go On Awards
& Fundraising Dinner on Friday, September 25. Cocktails begin at 6:00 pm with
dinner served at 7:00 pm.
The Show Must Go On Award honours individuals or groups who have made
a significant contribution to Imperial Theatre as a live performance venue. In
the great show business tradition of the show must go on, these people have
persisted in spite of obstacles to bring performers and audiences together in
this beautiful, historic theatre.
Bernie & Elizabeth Cormier have graciously agreed to be honorary co-chairs
of the event, and will be presenting the 2015 award to Michael Wennberg.
Mr. Wennberg is being recognized for his efforts in the community restoration
of Imperial Theatre as a performing arts venue for the city of Saint John.
Only 100 tickets are available for the event, which includes a three-course
dinner served onstage, live entertainment, a silent auction, and one live
auction item.
Tickets for The Show Must Go On Awards are $150 each and a charitable
donation receipt will be provided for $75.

GORDIE MACKEEMAN &
HIS RHYTHM BOYS AND VISHTÈN
Thursday, October 15 at 7:30 pm
Once you’ve seen Gordie MacKeeman dance
his way up a bass fiddle without missing a
bow stroke on his own, you can never forget it.
Imperial audiences in 2013 loved the PEI group’s
combination of traditional bluegrass and fiddle
music with Gordie’s “crazy legs” dancing. So we
brought them back — this time on a double bill
with their fellow Islanders, Vishtèn. For more than
a decade Vishtèn has been spreading the joy of old
time Acadian music while forging their own indiefolk-trad-fusion. The best kitchen party ever!

He calls it “Canadiana cowboy music” and
Tim Hus has earned his claim to it. The legendary
Stompin’ Tom Connors said, “I’ve been looking
for 30 years for a young guy who’s proud to write
songs about our country. I’d like to pass the
torch to Tim Hus.” From the oil rigs to the wheat
fields to the truck stops, Hus brings us Canadian
Country & Cowboy songs from coast to coast.
SHEESHAM AND LOTUS & SON:
THE NEW KINGS OF OLD TIME
Thursday, May 12 at 7:30 pm
In a concert like no other, this trio performs
“good time songs of the past” on a variety of
instruments including their own creations such as
the Sepia-phonic Monophone and the Contrabass
HarmoniPhoneum. A combination of great musicianship, zany antics and a deep love for traditional
American fiddle and banjo music has taken this
group around the world. Let’s party like its 1929.

In a concert like no other, this trio performs “good time
songs of the past” on a variety of instruments including their
own creations such as the Sepia-phonic Monophone and
the Contrabass HarmoniPhoneum. A combination of great
musicianship, zany antics and a deep love for traditional
American fiddle and banjo music has taken this group
around the world. Let’s party like it’s 1929.

Hip, fun, sexy, high-energy performance.
Just what you’d expect from a concert by nine
of Canada’s best classical musicians. We could
say this is not your grandmother’s evening of
chamber music, but if Grandma’s also a
Pink Floyd fan, it probably is.

A DARLENE LOVE CHRISTMAS —
LOVE FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Wednesday, November 25 at 7:30 pm
Oscar winner (Twenty Feet from Stardom), Billboard
recording star (He’s a Rebel, Wait Til My Bobby Gets
Home), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and the
woman who made 27 appearances on Late Night
with David Letterman singing the holiday classic
Christmas Baby Please Come Home, Darlene Love is
a legend. The New York Times says “Darlene Love’s
thunderbolt voice is as embedded in the history of
rock and roll as Eric Clapton’s guitar or Bob Dylan’s
lyrics.” Frankly, we can’t believe our luck in having
her perform here at Imperial Theatre.
